I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.

thanks for the great answer. I think esactly the same.

One acceptable cryptocurrency is the future. And government pressure into that coin is the thing to discuss in the future.

But if governments try to control that system, alternative coins will survive in order to eliminate the pressure..

I think the best thing about crypto for now is that governments have no control over it. Once governments sink their fingers into it, it might get all turpsy-turvy.

I do believe that there is a possibility to overtake bitcoin by one or more altcoins. Bitcoin is a pioneer but it has its own limitations. There are great businesses out there  and willing to implement blockchain technology for future use. For example  I came across with SingularityNET not long ago through Sophia the AI robot who's became the first citizen of Saudi Arabia and found out that Sophia's AI will be on blockchain. Hanson Robotics is a leading technology and has a great future like many others. I have faith in altcurrencies as a whole and no doubt of their future.

I think many of the altcoins will have no future and they will be just memories. But I have good expectations from the ethereum. I hope to see that its price will reach really high amounts like bitcoin's price.

My opinion is, that altcoins are zero sum game. Users gamble against each other.

Altcoins only value is, that you can change them to Bitcoins.

With all the icos and altcoin popping here and there, not all of them survives or lasts long. Some of them just fade or disappear while some survives. Altcoin's future depends on its technology and developers and so as its investors. So long as the project keep on improving and the population of its investors keeps incrrasing then i guess that certain altcoin has a future.
While the community is key to the survival of a coin, the developer needs to be extraordinaire as well, you cannot just create a cone of another coin and think yourself as a great developer, you need to try to do something better than other coins or to find an application to the blockchain that no one has thought.
However, we do not need to have much application like now of the ICO market. There are many good ideas and all ideas is ok, I can not negate the idea of some potential projects. But, can the devs of these projects make their idea become the truth in future? And is it really improve our society or just useless?

Some do, others don't.  Now however is a good time to find a good alt currency and invest as almost all of them have dipped. I invested in AMB - great U.N backed project and it was growing steady. Thisdip felt like a good opportunity to get a coin thats gonna go to the moon soon!

people wouldn't be holding ETH and XMR if altcoins don't have future. but there are some that don't have future though. some roadmap of the projects just stop right after they have develop mobile app or woo commerce plugin and so on. they didn't even thought of actually making their token valuable like being used to have demands.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.

For me yes, they have a future even though most of them are just a scam or what we called shitcoins. There are still some of them that have a potential that have a future to grow in the next couple of years just like ethereum and waves I can count on my fingers on those altcoins that are going to be successful in the future. They might not pass or surpass bitcoins but still they can survive for years especially ethereum because I have plenty of them in my wallet. I am hoping for it to grow just like what bitcoins before and today. And for me to have millions in my wallet because I know that the value of my holdings will be worth millions as time goes by.

I think Altcoin has a good future because every month there must be Altcoin that appears and its value is increasingly rising day.

I believe that only half of currently released altcoins will survive in one year, a quarter - in two years, and only around 5% - in 5 years.

There are some altcoins have future but not all of it have future. Some altcoins are good at first but as time goes by the value of it getting ignored because or the new altcoins and new ICOs. The people always wanted new, they forgot the value of the old one because they saw a new one

Yes, we won't see the whole picture for now but they are moving slowly to shape our future. A good example is InvestFeed which can replace facebook/twitter in the future.

There will be a great future for altcoins. But some only will rise and most of the altcoins will sink.

Yes, of course, Altcoins really have a future and it depends on team, technology, market capitalization and the value and the concept of this coin, Good coins have bright future thier rate will up and down according to the market situation but they dont loose the power and value and public intrest also or some good coin may drop for some time but they will come back in future or nearly closed futur.
