EDIT: I mean mostly kids online, its hard to be a kid and gamble physically. I feel like the gambling rate for kids is increasing a lot and is gonna be a problem in the future, especially with the CS:GO situation.[/center]
Isn't Valve already taken care of this problem? Not that long ago they requested every 3rd party service where you could bet on CS matches with your in game items to shut down?
This kind of gambling is really easy for them to monitor and nuke. I don't think it would be much of a problem anymore. Unless betting sites will go deep underground or something.

From what i know value just shut down a few csgo gambling websites, I don't think they are targeting kids and preventing kids from gambling.
No they are not. They can't nor they have the authority to do so. Children are responsibility of their parents not Valve or anyone else.
Shutting down places where children could place a bet is enough - maybe if the problem will persist in some way then Valve could add some new mechanic to the skins, tagging them somehow.
As long as you will be able to trade items thought Steam you will be able to gamble - for example betting vs your friends privately.
Do you think that it would be possible for the steam marketplace to still be up without gambling existing in it at least not in large amounts?

You can still bet on games via steam, its just much less widely supported or known about now.  Its not actually upto Valve to regulate how people trade such items but somebodys mommy complained about little jonny spending all his cash on gambling.    There was also a massive drive by young adults to push alot of their audience of teenagers into gambling large amounts, very deceptive practise and basically fraudlent enough to justify jail time.

However the linchpin to all this is that game items, little pixels on a screen with bright colours arent really money even if people do use cash in order to get them.   Same way that bitcoin itself is a token not classed as currency in many countries.     So the gambling was of non cash items and in any case it was done by individuals own choice privately.   Small companies were setup to take advantage of the young user group which is where it becomes so unfortunate and exploitative.    The main path to suing is to attack the largest profitable enterprise so they went after Valve who then did make some attempt to throw out or restrict these grey area firms.

You can still bet cash directly on computer game matches, I imagine this is considered directly a regulated industry.  They do check age more often in that case.   Gambling at a young age is still a thing in modern games, to summarise.
The Valve system is a raffle type game, I consider that gambling and its targeting children.  They have cut down on more obvious dice games not under their own control but not their direct business of cash for items (Raffle) which is a form of pay to play, like the old arcades I guess.  Since it involves luck its gambling, the wider issue was sports gambling which is 90% gone

So you mentioned about CS:GO (steam game) here in my place many of my kid friends who are gambling with DotA 2 bettable items. I just don't know if that is still on the go, because I heard that steam disabled the betting of their items. But still they manage to gamble for betting it per game they do. And their range is ranging 12-18 years old.

Yea I was gambing under 18 and now I have 18 about 2 weeks was my 18 year bitrhday but I gamble online from 1 year ago and my first sport betting tikets was when  I was 5 years old hehehe but gambling can be good for kids which are under 18 because If they gamble smart they can earn a lot but I think that gamble for under 18 need to be allowed but with some limits.
i am not sure you would be allowed to gamble if the site mods knows that you are below the legal age as it is clearly written in terms and conditions of every site and i have seen people being banned in dice site for boasting the youngest individual gambling. And you could really gamble under the radar since no body really finds out unless and until you start talking  Wink

Experience something that is long enough for the age under 18 years of age. I don't know what you mean do gambling, but certainly I am sure that you already have some tragedy that get you the defeat. Indeed in the Sports gambling especially seriously fun because there we can easily for profit, but it's all going to be a big loss if it can not control themselves, because a good self control our lives in gambling will be a bad friend. Beware

While my guitar gently weeps!!!
Yes. Most of the people who gamble are minors. As they need money to buy things and they can't get from their parents. They use gambling for them to have a lot of money and buy things. That's bad for the gambling because minors manage to gamble even if they don't have a money of their own. They can use their parent's money just to gamble.

No, not too many... There are only few minors who gamble, mostly they are the one' that has a parent but can't feel their presence... Not just that they need money so they gamble, sometimes it is due to the ambiance of the house, maybe their parents are always away or worst they are there but only do their usual thing, to nag each other...  Smiley

People in under age of 18 can gambling like Bitcoin gambling you did not know the real age of all players. But in real they can gamble but in the secret way.
but i think gambling in all over the world is illegal for those boys who are under the age of 18, all the casinos and other online gambling sites do not allow people who are under 18 but still there will be so many people who will be playing gambling illegally.

I dont think the minor gamble to get what they want. They usually gamble due to peer pressure cause they want to join in the fun with their friends. They treat it as a form of entertainment while hanging out with their friends.

In this age anyone can gamble online, even kids can.  You can just give a fake birthday in the registration and some gambling sites dont ask for that as long as you have the money. Yes it is a problem cause kids should just focus on their studies. Gambling is too early for them

Gambling sites, adult sites, and any other illegal sites for ages under 18, of course do not accept end-users that are under 18.
But they cannot control it because everyone can fake their ages in the internet.
Also, gambling games nowadays are super easy. Even a child can play them.

yeah this is not right but it is happeneing nonetheless.

children these days can access any website they want and no amount of parental protection on the computers is enough to prevent that.

and bitcoin is helping them even experience gambling since it is anonymous and they don't need credit cards to pay for the gambling site funds.

That is reality under age 18 kids are very very curios and they want to explore everything, so many surveys showing these result how many kids are involve into these kind of activities while stay online, bitcoin made gambling so easy for everyone and that is the reason they are taking benefit to stay anonymous on online gambling casinos.
