Of course they don't. I only grew an interest in bitcoins when I started taking testosterone for over a year. It was quite uncanny. What kind of dumbass question is this?

What's a girl?  Huh

Not that it's a very good indicator, but my bitcoin related videos on youtube used to have 1-3% female viewers. Realistically I'd say about ~5% of users are female at this time, in the beginning it was probably close to 0%, but now that bitcoins is becomming more mainstream we will see more women.

Are girls / women interested in Bitcoin ?
Your opinion ?
I think females are by itself less inclined to take chances and risk money that one needs.

Bitcoin is by no means a ponzi scheme but when first presented with it, one does not necessarily distinguish between the two. Internet funny money? Oh, come on, gimme a break. That was my first response too. I only took it seriously when a friend told me it's based on austrian economics. Another question to ponder on. How many girls know about and understand the idea of austrian economics?

Anyway, I think the reason there are not many women around here is not so much connected with us, males annoying them. They are intelligent and can show and tell to an idiot just what he is. I think they are just on average less likely to try some new unproven stuff that can cost you a lot of money and will certainly cost you a lot of time, which could be spent for other things, like socializing.

Although I don't think we, users really scare them off, I still think we might be nicer to them because they represent a big, mostly not yet involved user base.

When a woman claims to have registered, many forum users reply with derogating responses such as “tits or GTFO”[3].

"Am I the only female nerd... ahem bitcoin user haha ?"

Right, because that's even a girl to begin with.

Sorry, let me clarify:

Either 15-year old girl's first time on internet and seeking attention because she just found out what her gender can do, or G.I.R.L. troll.  In the former case, "Tits or GTFO" is not derogatory; "Hi look at me I'm a girl" is self-depreciating in and of itself, and responding to it with "if you want me to do so I want to see your tits" isn't degrading the poster any more than they already did to themself.  In the latter case... who cares? It's a troll.

Do you ever see posts that begin with "Hey I'm a guy" on any forum that has nothing to do with gender?  No, you don't.  You see girls (or male trolls) doing it everywhere, though.  Why?  Who knows.  All I know is laughing at their buffoonery is amusing for me, though.

Hm, a lot of sexism ITT.

I for one am a big fan of the ladies. Girl power FTW!

I would love to have a Bitcoin enthusiast as my "partner in crime". Cool girls like that are hard to come across though I suppose. Actually, there are a lot of cool girls but the cool ones are usually unattractive. I am in shape and wouldn't consider myself ugly by any means, so I feel like I deserve to find a cool & attractive girl.  Wink

PS: Ladies hit me up. We can go on an e-date, I will buy you e-flowers and send you a follow up post-date e-greeting card filled with sweet nothings. I can be your Bitcoin sugar daddy!  Cheesy Grin

You are defining a joke image as "inappropriate" and "should never have been posted here"

It is just an image with pink and some gifs  Undecided

I'm all for free speech. Free speech entails free criticism of speech, and I am exercising that right.

You mean you are exercising the right of free speech to criticise free speech.

As I said, 7% of users admit they are female in an anonymous poll. This decreases to 4% when measuring only those who fill out profiles. There is a hostile atmosphere here, and that needs to be fixed.

We should especially offer services for the great percentage of women that are 80+ according to this ingenious poll.

Yeah. Go fix this outrageously hostile atmosphere. Offer free hugs for the poor exploited women who desperately need you to defend their rights...
