This is something the US government generally does allow.

It does however require that users of both currencies play by the same rules.

I don't see much consistency in their ability to follow their own rules.
The Fed doesn't like competition, and thus will shutdown and steal from anyone who tries and competes: DGC, egold, liberty dollar, liberty reserve.

The main reason Bitcoin has made it this far without them shutting it down is because they cannot accomplish this task so easily at this stage.

The operators of all of the currencies in your above examples were breaking aml/kyc rules and as a result were not following the same rules that the dollar needs to follow and were shut down accordingly

No, I think he makes a good point. Compromise is a way for everyone to get some of what they want; it should be a way that everyone can "win"

The compromise is allowing their currency to compete with bitcoin.

I LOVE LAMP!

Yes, except for php which is notoriously difficult to secure. However, LAMP makes for a good solution stack for many CMS applications.

Look, it's a tradeoff. If you want some level of mass adoption, you are going to have to accept some degree of govt oversight. You always have the option to opt out by staying underground, not paying btc related taxes etc

... compromise is the language of losers, cop-outs and generally failure.

OP does have a point, Satoshi did walk away the moment Gavin accepted the invitation to speak with the CIA. Coincidence?

YES THAT WAS TOTALLY AND COMPLEETLY A COINCEDENCE!!!! HE WUZ PLANNING ON LEAVING WAY BEFORE THAT!

I THINK THE OP IS RIGHT, SO I'M GONNA MOVE THE SOURCE CODE TO SUMPLACE MORE SECURE WHERE THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T SEE IT ANYMORE. AND I WENT AND GOT ME A GOOD HAT TO WEAR WHEN I WRITE CODE SO THEIR SATELITES CANT HEAR ME EITHER.

FOR THE CHILDREN!

Plot twist, gavin is satoshi and never really left. Or maybe gavin is CIA and satoshi is gavin so was satoshi talking to satoshi this whole time O.O

so instead just say you are concerned about how the government exploits usa citizens through abusively taxing their citizens.

OP says: don't give the government any information about BTC, yet he posts claiming to have 30 BTC that he doesn't know what to do with:

I think it would be perfectly reasonable for the OP to not want the government to get in Bitcoin's "business" if he has such a large amount of bitcoin, however he severely misunderstands the concept of open source as anyone can see pretty much anything about bitcoin

Don't think they need any info to be told when you are shouting them at the top of your lungs in the most sophisticated, seductive and pervasive surveillance tool to ever grace the history of mankind - the internet.

Best part is most people think they are more anonymous then being offline.

You can't make this stuff up.
Well to be fair the places that bitcoin is being discussed and information about bitcoin can be found are not exactly the most difficult to access websites around (provided the country you are accessing it from is not trying to censor the internet - china-)

People are all for freedom and equality until they have to pay the price for it. Only those willing to really understand either and their requirements deserve to enjoy the privileges.

If you want to hold a conversation with government agents about bitcoin you should probably be dropping peyote buttons and indeed insist that they the government agents too are taking peyote ... or else it's essential essence will be missed completely and they would just never "get it".

Just make sure you avoid those Aluminum Foil Hats..turns out they are actually a conspiracy by the government to better be able to read your mind.
