I wonder why some people believe so much in exposing themselves as a major way of letting people know that they have not minding the risk involved in doing such things, this is not only attributed to crypto holders it is a lesson to everyone who is doing something reasonable that is fetching them a lot money, do not let anyone get too close to you to the extend of you discussing your business plans, your investments and the number of houses you own and other things. I believe this information became open because they were able to trace that it was the family member that kidnapped him who knows others that such things has happened to and they were not traced because no one knows what happened to them. People should learn how to keep secrets and live a very simple life style it will do them more good than harm.
Sharing with an outsider would be more complicated if such a situation occurred within a family member. Moreover, if one's wealth is stolen by someone in one's family, then there is no difference between outsider and insider. One must take utmost care for one's safety to avoid such dire situations. Otherwise the chances of losing will increase. Although there are many people in the world who can be trusted, this does not mean that they should be told about personal wealth. There are many who can cheat for excessive greed. Money has become so important to people nowadays that family members cheat with each other. It is best to keep ones wallet seed phrase in a safe place at his own risk. But it is also important to inform his loved ones about the wealth so that they can enjoy that wealth after his passing away.

Oddly enough, this is why I want bitcoin adoption to take place at large scale.

If all of society is "rich", then the rich can hide in a larger set of people and fewer single entities are targeted just because of their wealth.

And what makes you think that adoption at a large scale will make everyone rich? Someone who adopts Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies doesn't necessarily have to be rich. You can buy Bitcoin worth $10 to begin with, and you adopt Bitcoin if you do that. So, adoption doesn't always mean that more people are getting rich. This means that more people are becoming aware of Bitcoin and its benefits. These two are entirely different things.

Besides, problems such as thieveries, robberies, stealing, or kidnappings won't stop if most people in the society become rich. People will still wish to have more than they have because that's human nature. The more you have, the more you want. People will still be threatened if they have a lot of wealth, and there will be people with less wealth. There will be enmity between people; one might kill the other if they can't beat them in monetary terms.

The world will become even a bigger shithole than it already is.

Adoption means faith and usability of BTC for everybody, in my opinion.
You won't get rich from putting on $10 - but you will become part of the community, sorta.

I was listening to a news that one of the relatives of a person kidnapped him and asked him for bitcoin in ransom. This happened because that person showed his bitcoin holdings to many of his relatives and news spread among them that he has lot of money invested in crypto. Though, finally funds were recovered from that guy but he could have even lost his life in the whole scenario. Thus, you should be careful with disclosing about your bitcoin holdings to everyone.
I also don’t know how I missed this thread, it’s been a year now that thread was created and i am surprised how i missed it. This world is a really wild place and weird things keep happening everyday and with different things happening the more reason we have not to trust anyone at all not even our own relatives. People can do crazy things for money and so for our own safety we should keep our wealth and bitcoin possessions private, trust very little circle and never disclose your total assets to avoid attracting unwanted attention that may risk our lives. Our safety is in our own hands and when no one knows that you have certain things how will they plan to come steal from someone who has nothing so is best advised to be cautious and discreet about our possessions.

Right, brother! I agree with you. Showing off wealth attracts unnecessary attention and is dangerous. It is much safer not to flex your money on social media, In the era of social media, showing off your wealth is very dangerous. Showing off on social media is like temptation. Money does love silence, but peace of mind and safety are way more important than this. Great advice!
Showing off or flaunting your wealth is really a way of advertising yourself to thief and bad people. Living a very private life is the best thing now in this world we are now, say less about your private self and also post less on social media.

I mean it's a pretty natural thing to do even if it is not crypto if you have a huge amount of money on your account you're not really just going to disclose to to anyone that you don't really trust or probably not part of your family. Mostly you're just going to let your family know. Probably because when talking about cryptocurrency a lot of people think that you're some kind of rich guy that could easily print money on trading, compared to just someone who has money in their bank account.

When it comes to this matter I personally just share this kind of information to my family and my girl, no one else, I would totally avoid giving a lot of information to some of my friends that I don't really trust or I don't really know, mostly I would just give small hints like I know cryptocurrency and invested a small amount on it something like that.

It should be like that so that we avoid some things that are not wanted as the worst possibility, and of course this is also in line with the concept of anonymity which has always been emphasized from the start so that we should have a little limit so that we don't show ourselves too clearly, it's just that sometimes things like this become a little difficult just because in some cases sometimes they want a thirst for achievement and prestige to be recognized by others that they are successful in having a lot of assets in their portfolio.

This cannot be avoided because I often see some of my friends who are still quite fond of seeing them uploading what they have for consumption on social media which is actually quite dangerous because we must be aware that this will actually make us consciously or unconsciously submit ourselves to be targeted by some people who have bad intentions.

You shouldn’t share about crypto assets, your economy, and things that should be private to you on social media. Yes, a lot of things are shared on social media today and people get to know each other that way. The increasing consumerism and ostentation has led to social media being used for this purpose.

It is dangerous for people with bad intentions to know about you. Showing off or talking about your assets on social media will make you a target for people with bad intentions. Being careful about what you share on social media is a great security measure.
As I said earlier that it should definitely be reduced even if possible should not be done but it can not be denied that for now it seems that when someone can not brag about themselves on social media it sometimes makes some of them feel that it is a lack of things so in the end there are always a lot of people who try to continue to make some achievements including bragging about themselves when showing off their assets.

Moreover, for some conditions sometimes it is used as a condition to lure people to follow them due to the assets they have. Not a few people do things like this. Although in the end this goes back to them too because they are free to do whatever they want but on the other hand they indirectly unconsciously open their anonymity and make them a target (target) of irresponsible people due to their own actions in the end as the worst impact.

They are actually not too aware of the bad possibilities that occur because the focus is only on making public consumption that does not actually need to be done.

Most Bitcoin holders keep their holdings by installing wallets on their mobile phones. If for some reason a holder's Bitcoin holdings become public, it becomes risky for him to walk the streets. Bad things like robberies or kidnappings can happen any time malicious fraudsters find out about Bitcoin holdings. Or if the mobile is hacked or stolen for some reason, thieves or fraudsters can certainly gain access to the Bitcoin wallet. So maintaining privacy regarding Bitcoin holdings certainly emphasizes your own security. Just as your Bitcoin is good for you, it can also be bad for you if someone outside finds out about your Bitcoin.

It is safe for us to always keep our crypto assets from social media because we don't even know who could have the capacity to lure us getting access to our password or seed phrases maybe through corrupt link or whatsoever. Many scammers are on the Internet and they are always observing looking for their next victim to steal from. As a crypto investor, it is better we discuss about cryptocurrency in a neutral ground than trying to impress the public exposing the worth of our crypto assets. This alone can attract scammers and hackers to keep tracking our conversion so that they could get access to our password or something that will ease them to steal from us.

Most times people who go around telling people about bitcoin doesn't know when they are gradually revealing themselves to people because they are more trickish with their questions when asking you about bitcoin. Most times i don't go ahead introducing people to bitcoin investment and i believed it was at the process of wanting to introduced people who gets to reveal himself and his total holdings that made those people planned against him to get him kidnaped. The bull run is here and we should also be mindful when it comes moving out with gadgets.
Why will someone be that gullible to have tell the public about their crypto holding without knowing. We ought to be very careful when talking about our crypto holdings online or in the public because we might not know who is capable of luring us in exposing the value or quantity of our crypto holdings. The Internet is full of lies and we should not be so passionate everytime to the extent of getting deceived by mere words that have the potential of making us go extra miles feeling pitiful. Consciousness need to be awaken because the Internet is full of different people that can trigger our emotions in doing what we don't ought to do on a normal circumstances.

At this time, it's very important that everyone remain silent on their Bitcoin holdings. With how Bitcoin is skyrocketing, many are also with their evil eyes. So, you tell only what you want to tell but in a limited conversation because you don't have to tell everything to any person even if you trust them. You trust yourself and your instinct on this matter because when it's about Bitcoin holdings and money, many ears are listening and thoughts could be dark with people you'll never know what they can do to you.

When I check some social media status, I see a lot of people that I know that do post about Bitcoin update, I'm very certain that I have Bitcoin investment than what some of them claim to be posting but I never for once do such on social media knowing fully the damage it can cause me if things turn out badly. In my place right now, we are dealing with a lot of insecurity, even the police extortion is enough reason to avoid showing off with Bitcoin.
Be careful there buddy, you don't have to flaunt your Bitcoin holdings even online and social media unless you can keep your anonymity. But if not, much better to be lowkey happily watching the price in your home.

There is this phrase if mirrors, objects in the mirror are closer than we think, this can also be apply to friends. Some people that yiu regard as friends aren't your true friends, they are just they are just waiting for opportunities to use you. Some can Rob you or even kill you but because they will look bad if caught in the action is the reason whey some of them don't move quickly, this is why private life remains the best.
Yeah, this is the whole point of it. There have been victims of a '$5 wrench attacks' and that's why we have to be careful about keeping our personal and private matters.

Not only about Bitcoin, but also about all the wealth you have, just stay simple and humble about what you have, because usually people who show off their wealth to others will end up with unpleasant things. That's why I myself don't really show off what I have and still prefer to be anonymous, even when other people ask me if I have Bitcoin I will answer that I don't have it and say that they should find out about Bitcoin themselves, not about being paranoid but I'm just being careful since there are many crazy people out there.

A humble man is a fine man for sure.
I really like people who don't jerk their bags or anything else in fact off -these people know the value and the sweat put into something like that, so they respect their own efforts and the efforts of others.
In crypto or in something else.

Asset like bitcoin are meant to be kept private without anyone knowing about it,  I don't see any reason why other people should have idea about your investment. The first security of an investment is to remain private, just focus on your investment and never to open up to anyone about it because revealing to people can attract people who will want to attract it. Keeping your investment within yourself makes your asset to be more security that nobody will even know if you have an asset. People just make mistakes of letting other people about their investment trying to impress and not knowing they are putting their self to danger.
