Hi there. So i wanted to give it a try and used a small wallet to check if electron cash is safe to use. Well it is not. I imported a wallet using all the precautions needed to save my bitcoins, and imported a small amount of bcc into the wallet. A couple of minutes later the bcc were sent away like magic. Farewell...

So be carefull!!!

Here's a screenshot

I am pretty sure that it really depends on where you get the wallet from. There's a bunch of websites out there that state that they have an Electron Cash wallet though they have some kind of virus placed onto it so the money could get transferred without the person being around to approve it.

I've used the official wallet and did what it stated to do within their website and I was able to get Bitcoin Cash without losing any Bitcoin (I did have to spend about 0.0001 BTC as a transaction fee).
After I've received Bitcoin Cash I just sent it to an exchange.

My bad was for keeping the BCC 24h + on the Electron Cash. Sad

Huh

"Ok everyone, I believe that I have used Electron Cash successfully. Here's how:

I followed the procedure (at https://electrum.org/bcc.txt) faithfully, xfering my bitcoins to a new electrum wallet on another computer.

I downloaded my version of Electron Cash by following the link on bitcoincash.org and clicking on the Electron Cash link in the list of Wallets. I then clicked on the "Run from Source Code" link which downloaded Electron-Cash-2.9.2.tar.gz to my computer.

-You may find it interesting that the tar.gz file contained what looked like the kind of data one would find when downloading source code but also contained within the archive was a compiled version of Electron Cash. I found no instructions indicating how to compile the source code but I didn't look very hard. I realize that I have NO ability to analyze the code anyway so regardless of how I proceeded a certain leap of faith was required. With that in mind I simply ran: ./electron-cash in my konsole........" etc.

1. I open Electrum bitcoin-Wallet (with 2FA from trustcoin) and look at the adresses
2. I look up the one adress in Blockdozer and it tells me that my BCC are there
3. I open Coinomi BCC Wallet
4. I scan the Electrum private-key-Picture from the adress where my Blockdozer shows my BCC are
5. Coinomi says 'there are no funds on this private key'

Anyone knows what's wrong here?

Thanks!!

Make sure you're connected on the bitcoin cash blockchain network not on bitcoin regardless what client you use

That was the first thing I checked Smiley
You are actually getting those priv keys from the wallet addresses, right? Like:

1) Open the menu "View" and click on "Show Addresses"
2) Then open the new tab "Addresses"
3) Right click on the addresses that had Bitcoin before the fork, then click "Private key".
4) Click on the qrcode icon to show it.
5) Sweep them with Coinomi

Do the addresses that you know to have BCH show up at all in the addresses list in electrum?

I'm having an issue with Mycelium missing addresses that have BCH, just 0.02 but still annoying that the 3 and 4 BHC show up while an address used minutes later disappeared completely.

Hello everyone. I have a problem claiming my Bitcoin cash from the private keys.

I had a BTC balance on Electrum wallet (with 2fa enabled) before and after the swap. Moved my BTC after the swap to a diff address for security reasons. Now cannot use my private keys, every wallet (Electron cash, coinomi, Bitcoin ABC ) says that there is no funds on those keys, but the block explorer confirms that my Bitcoin Cash is there: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/36XmauGXBMEMjMNbRXxmCWy1X8g9SLEwFC. What am I doing wrong? Anyone has an idea?
Thanks.

Will pay 100$ in BTC to a person who will find a solution to my problem (fyi, I don't have my seed phrase for Electrum wallet)

The wallets have issues they keep get 'poisoned' by bitcoin nodes moving them to the wrong blockchain, it's real pain in the ass.

I installed Electron Cash 2.9.2 just before, and it's trying to connect to pop3 ports on some server, which my firewall stopped.

WTF is that all about?

same thing happened to me - but then the coins appeared in my wallet again. Its misleading but I don't think elctron cash is a scam. It worked for me to claim my bcc at least without losing anything

This thread might be started because they are bticoincash haters. Everyone in this forum should expect a lot of misinformation coming from the opposing side. There are people out there who do not want bitcoincash's value to grow because it can become a real potential threat to bitcoin.

Your 2fa applies only to your wallet not your coins or even less other coin forks or their wallets.

Blockdozer says
0 bcc at my original bitcoin wallet
0 bcc at my bcc wallet where i 'imported' the private keys

Nah, i was wrong. I put in the wrong address.
The BCC is there.

But:
My electrum wallet is with 2 factor authentification.
So: Electrum Cash software does simply not support it.

So: Either wait for them to update software to fix that,
or take another BCC-Wallet? (Would this work)

Anyone got a tip for me what to do? Can i just install 'any' BCC wallet and do 'restore from private key' and have my BCC? (even though i have 2FA)

That's exactly what I did before importing the private key. Although I skimmed through the source and didn't notice anything fishy just from glancing and grepping some functions.
Where did you managed to find the source code ? Last I heard they aren't open-sourced yet ? Even if you went through the source, you can't really know what's going on until you understand the encrypting functions. If possible, please give a link to source code.
https://electroncash.org/downloads/2.9.2/win-linux/Electron-Cash-2.9.2.zip It's linked right from their index page.

For me Electron Cash wallet worked like a charm, compiled from source and moved all my coins to a new address before I did the import just to be on the safe side, I got my BCCs in matter of minutes, haven't used it since though.
Also you should know that your private keys are exposed to the new electron cash wallet in case if you're planning store coins on the same coins, you must think twice. At the given situations,it's not yet completely marked as safe storage in the system. You should move your BCC coins from that wallet to an exchange or the core wallet.
