I think it might reach $50,000 at some point in the next 5-10 years. But no, $500,000 is insane in my opinion.

i think its too soon to reach $500,000 in 2020 because we know bitcoin price is too volatile especially for now we have bch that trying to increase like bitcoin. we need to break much higher price before we can reach that price and its need more time before we can go to that price. but i am sure that many people including me that agree if bitcoin price will reach that price.
Exactly. He isn't even considering how hard it is for us to move up by $1000, and he's already thinking about $500k. I mean it's good to talk about the long term but 2020(3 years time) isn't exactly long term.
I hate to say it but, i don't think that this is likely to happen at all. The price has risen a lot and in between halvings there is usually reduced economic activity within the bitcoin ecosystem. $500k per bitcoin would be a whopping 8 trillion dollar market cap. Something that i think we'll achieve in a few decades time when btc goes mainstream but definitely not now.
I think that we'll all be entertained by him giving himself a nice BJ on national television, though. We'd all be entertained by that.

i don't think bitcoin can reach $500k, cuz 10 Trillion market cap is a lot! maybe will hit $50k, the only info that i know now is bitcoin willreach $13k in Feb/Mars 2018
I agree that $500,000 seems way too high at least for 20 years or so. There will most likely be gains but probably a more gradual increase with some corrections along the way.
There needs to be more adoption by businesses and big investors before the price will really take off. That's going to take years and will be very gradual.

Mcafee is completely right to be bullish about bitcoin, in fact i think he is one of the only big names outside of crypto that supports the growth of bitcoin publicly, and is willing to take a bet on it.
However 500k is just way too big of a number to achieve in 3 years. It could happen but i do think that he is being a bit overconfident with his predictions. It's probably not going to climb all the way up, but rather in stages and gradually, with a lot of corrections that can't be avoided.
But still, prove me wrong Mr. McAfee. It it does climb to 500k then i'd be more than happy since i do hold btc as well.

Second, $500k is indeed just a number. Fiat is going to inflate in the long run and bitcoin is not inflationary. That means that intrinsically bitcoin is only going to go up in fiat value as time goes on, and mass adoption takes place.
However, John Mcafee seems to think that mass adoption can happen within just 3 years. I don't think this is likely.

Nope, it is not a matter of getting more investors is a matter of the whole world economy running through bitcoin and we are not even close of that happening so that price of bitcoin is not going to be seen at the time frame he established.

500,000 dollars is very high amount and i think it will not happen even you wait few years or for lifetime . Because if that happen for sure the whole world use bitcoin before reach that and thas very impossible . I think the highest price of bitcoin is 20,000 to 30,000 follars . But everything will possible to happen in this world and for sure if you have a lot of bitcoin to make a lot of profit . More bitcoin is better.
Maybe he and his billionaire friends are planning on pumping billions of dollars in Bitcoin and make it rise to more than $500,000 per Bitcoin. I believe that will be a better outcome for him than eating his own dick on national television.
If you really don't believe on what the master of programmer predicts , then just hold a little bitcoin for at least the next 3 years.
There's no harm and let's see what will happened , mcafee stated that of course with strong reasons.

Being a positive thinker as that, that is too much. It's good to hear someone opinion that high on trusting bitcoin value but that is totally wrong when it will not touch on reality. 2020 is 3 years from now so it will only be just 300000$ below. That is what I believe in.

It would be great and amazing, but to go to $500k in such a short time from now just seems crazy and impossible. But then again, way back in the day, saying Bitcoin to $100 seemed crazy and impossible... 
Anyway, I would be ecstatic if we even got to just $10k in 2020. $500k, $100k or even just $50k? That would make me explode.

I don't think it will reach 500.000$ in just 2.5 years of time. But I believe it will hit 50k$ tince 2021. And people will actually start to think bitcoin can hit 500k. I am waiting for 2020 sitting on my couch.

I appreciate his optimism but i don't think it is going to happen.
Honestly, if would shock everyone, even the biggest bitcoin fans if it happened.
He actually made the prediction when the price of bitcoin was steadily rising on a day to day basis, and i think that's what has mostly influenced him to say such an outrageous thing. Obviously, he did not consider that growth will ultimately slow down. There is nothing on this world that can sustain 10% per day gains, without correcting itself in a major way. I see a major correction happening next year, which will slow us down quite a bit.
So sorry Mr. McAfee.
