Before you buy a new coin you need to conduct research and analysis. It's a big risk in your case.
I buy new coins but before that I did some research first. to find any of those new coins, I choose the "Recently added" menu in coinmarketcap because it makes me easy to researching for the new potential coins.
Now while not buying any new coins, as cash necessary of life, and the situation is excellent, when such low prices!
I personally buy new coins on its ICO stage but i choose only those coins that has a potential in long term and a good price in the market.
Pardon me, I'm just a newbie when it comes to all this trading stuff. I just got curious on the field of trading and have checked out in CMC recently launched coins, top gainers and losers. My question is, do you usually buy new coins then set your target sell? Or do you just buy from top losers then keep an eye on it?

it is good to check at coinmarketcap whenever there is a new coin, but in my trading plan, I don't always buy new coins I am just focused on which coin is currently placed at Top Gainers or Top Volume. I just choose one or two coins from top gainers once I noticed it has a good traded volume within 24 hours.
I like to buy new coins, because it usually gives very high profits, but the accompanying is also very risky
I buy new cryptocurrencies, if only they have a good team and a friendly community, a product useful for society and there is already a functioning project
Usually, I do it as well. For instance, recently I managed to invest a lot in EIDOO and Robotina. However, now the market is absolutely unpredictable. I have temporary stopped doing it.
Top gainers and losers are references to determine our trading attitude, not a few for new coins that look good because they successfully enter the daily volume standard, but of course there are several other factors that need to be considered and the most important is how deep their communication is with ongoing developments . the increase in the new altcoin volume certainly doesn't just happen
I'll buy sometimes if I saw its potentiality but I'll never hold it for a long time and just sell it when I've got profit already. I'll do this way cause mostly all new coins will drastically going down and ain't recover easily.
If the new coin is very potential with a good developer with convincing research results and will be listed in a large market, it is worth buying it in my opinion
if I myself are better off buying coins that are old and many are trusted by investors and traders because the new coins are very risky. the problem is that there have been a lot of new coins eventually experiencing a scam 
New Coins/Token its really easy to catch the profit, most of ICO using a token and after they listing the price going more than 70-90% from ICO price the opportunity its you can make a short trade with fast profit. Because after this drop, sometimes they make a good rebounce.

With the current market conditions, YES, I am still buying new coins/tokens as long as I am sure with the project. I always do a little research about the team behind the project, whitepaper, roadmap and application of the project in the real world. As long as all these aspects are met, I will still buy the coins offered in the ICO's. In fact, I will save the coin for the long term even though in some new coins that I buy, I will only sell them when entering a good market.
Buying new coins is sometimes very risky but can be very profitable. On new coins sometimes will be made flash pump and that's where we can get a big profits. All depends on your knowledge and courage in investing.
the risk is normal when we are here and there is no harm in trying, select new coins that we think are good and promising but our investment is a little because to test whether this coin is profitable. but I would rather invest in 10 top coins in a market cap coin because there we know everything.but we also have to look at the overall market condition, even if the market conditions are bearish even though the top 10 in the coinmarket list will also experience a dangerous price decline, of course there may be some coins that will rise in price, but that may only last a while, less more like a flash pump

I buy new coins but there are still lots of things to be consider. I make sure that a certain coin that I will be buying has a good potential. I do series of research to make sure that I'll gain a good profit through it. An active team would be a big help.

I do both the things you mentioned in your post. Buying new coins in an Ico project Help Me with the required research needed to stay informed. Staying informed help me make better decisions. On the other hand occasionally I also look for the gainers and losers of the day to baste my trading decision accordingly. Just to add I do trades once in 3 months or so
This dip is a huge opportunity for every trader to buy some coins and hold. Its not every month you see or experience complete dip in coins values. If you are holding Fiat or bitcoin or ETH, this is the best time to buy low and hope to sell for higher profit when the market is good.

Yes l buy new coins to discover a new profit so that my kids will survive for our family needs.l really need to look a way to have profit because this is the onky way l know to provide the needs of my family.
