Yes, it is definitely necessary to invest in ico. Github is a very important part of ico. To look at the code source, pay more attention to some related content and activities.

Everyone knows that's it's necessary to check a project's social media pages and whitepaper while analysing ICO projects, but first of all we are investing in the technology, not in the marketing. So the main thing to take a look at should be GitHub of the project, and looking at it we can get the overall picture about how the team is working and whether the funds that are being raised are really spent on the development of the project.
Do you agree with this? How important is GitHub for you in ICO analysis?

Checking Github repository is not the only way while analyzing the ICO. Not everyone is technically sound enough to understand the github of the project.
For me, ICOs are mostly important from Fundamentals point of view and hence I prefer doing FA foremost investing in any ICO.

CoinMetro - the future of exchanges
It's definitely a good thing to check, no reason not to.
GitHub code as well as alpha products are all good signs, while not having either is a red flag in my eyes.
There's too many projects that only has a whitepaper to show, and yet hope to raise millions of dollars.
wouldn't a serious project try to make sure they can attract as many people as possible, by ensuring that they have something to show?

I will go frank with this one, I never check the GitHub because I dont know much about the technical stuff. If I have to understand the idea behind the project then I will just go and read the whitepaper in details which is actually meant for the general investors. Thats gives me more profound idea as I will never understand whats going on within the GitHub page. Also, I never thought about going over there and check whether I can understand that one or not. For now its all about the fundamentals and as simple as I can keep it for myself.

Github is actaully is a proof if there is something going on with the projects and sometimes such projects show more that the community is involved and they are sharing commits if there is a bug/problems in the code

Github as an important part to determine how good that ico is.Remem we should make sure the contract has already verified all of the codes have written properly by the developer.
It's really important for me because it give a clue about what will be happened and make sure the developer is not putting the back door.

Great to hear that, as there is another mega thread in this board about whether people actually read whitepapers, and to my surprise many confess that they hardly ever do it, explaining that they can get the idea of the project just by looking at the website. But for me whitepaper is also a way to determine how seriously the team is working on their project, whether they have made a solid research and already have all the technical solutions in details, not only the idea of their product. The same with GitHub.

Now I think I need to check the most successful ICOs of 2018 and then look at their GitHubs to find out whether there is some real correlation between developers' productivity and amounts of money raised.

Actually, yes I always try to do. I don't understand the language of Github but it is very necessary for a project to have Github. Before investing in any ICO, usually, I look into their social media platforms, Telegram chat group's activity, Github Source code, Unique Contract address, KYC Approve by Icobench and some other things.
