archive.org it could be down or hacked, nothing is really safe when storing it online.
I just want to save my soft files on the hard drive that only I can access.

I've found archive.org fucking hopeless for most of the old things I was curious about. It might have one page from a certain month and much of the time that's empty too. No way can you depend on it to retain stuff that interests you. And crypto is an awful lot more fleeting than most other subjects.

I think that online services like Wayback Machine/Archive.org will save some crypto related websites that are gone.I'm not 100% sure though.I'm not interested into saving any cryptocurrency related websites, videos or articles.I guess that,if some sort of info is on the internet,it's going to stay on the internet forever. Storing your coins on hard drive is one of the safest way of holding your coins. It is also a multisignature wallet. The seed phrase created by the wallet should be placed at the safest place after noting it down on a piece of a paper. If you by mistake loose that seed phrase that is your own fault, so be very careful while dealing with it because it will give back you your coins.

Either for your own amusement or for your unborn clones?

Do you diligently save sites, videos, discussions and previous software versions just in case they disappear from the internet for future reference? Is there actually any type of dedicated crypto archive out there? I'm not sure I can think of anything.

No matter what happens to the entire scene the impact it has made will be studied for centuries. I wonder how much information will be available to the curious in the years to come.

Here's the only snippet I ever bothered with. It took several hours of waiting but was a moment well worth preserving if only for my wank bank.

In my own opinion, recording and preserving about the history of bitcoin would be a great idea that you are just like a historian but in bitcoin. The only thing that will benefit from doing it is just for future evidences and for people who will make a study about bitcoin. But none of us don't have a lot of time for us to saved sites, videos, discussions, etc because we are too busy to earn profit with bitcoin.

Dang. I missed the shot I could get when Bitcoin was up to 20k in 2017.

It didn't hit 20 grand on any of the most credible exchanges. It did on a few illiquid ones but that doesn't count in my book.

10 grand was the magic figure for me and I'm glad I grabbed it. Just a couple of years before that figure would've seemed like pure sci fi yet there it was.

My bad.  Grin
I still don't have any account to any exchanges that year as I was still learning Bitcoin.
Same boat as yours though in 10G.

I never saved any sites or videos just to make it my future references. What am I doing is that I just check those insight of every analyst about bitcoin price and base my prediction there. Even though some of them is not a legitimate prediction I still accept their inputs and insights and analyze it also by myself.
I still save some, mostly left it as tab in my chrome so I can read when Im about to close  tabs at night . I do also save Some screenshots of my trade and earnings since sometimes I can't believe I did it myself or to remind me My losses or gains way back in my newbie days in trading bitcoin that many post I see about it I saved it.

I never save news or videos about bitcoin. because in my opinion it is of no use. and if you want to see the bitcoin movement in the previous year we can see it on the graph. most people i think only upload bitcoin graphic images when bitcoin pump or dump on social media.
There is no need of recording or preserving the history. If it help you in any way you can do that. You can check the required information anytime you can get it from multiple sites on the internet. In the present era of technological advancements people opted for shortcuts and time saving options. If you have the internet facility avail it for a better cause and search whatever you need instead of holding and preserving the history.

I really don't save any videos, websites, graphs nothing I saved till now i felt its of no use because it's just occupying space in my laptop. When it's required I'll check it out the graph and on Google. If it's too important I'll save it.

It's up to you whether you save or not Bitcoin transaction.

I think very few people will do the job of storing or recording the data or history of bitcoin because most of us are not market researchers, we are not the editors for a magazine or website, we are just very ordinary investors and what we care about every day is value, the latest information about bitcoin, it is enough for us to set up a plan for investing or making money. Besides, the actual records don't have too many reference values when each time is a different face of bitcoin, it cannot help us too much in the future.

I've never thought about it that way,
Normally I use my browser to bookmark important news But if the news is removed from that site I can't find it anymore.
Sometimes, if I find very important news then I archived it for my future use.

I was one of those hodlers that would refresh the updated price of Bitcoin overtime.
I am searching using the keyword "btc to usd" commonly in Google and it was like an unhealthy habit for me.
I could've save a screenshot or even put it into archive if I had the chance.

I haven't record any history but I preserve the ideas I read on the forum about bitcoin history. The latest was a poem written and I really like the it was created. Its something new and very interesting to read. Though it was a little short history, it still has stated some of it and how it grows.

For me I am still saving some news and videos about bitcoin especially those videos and news that are very relevant and important that may used on the future or someday. We can use Those important news and videos to manipulate and understand on what is happening on the market right now. This is very important for us to be updated every time especially those history because this are the one we can use on how we will survive the current situation of the market.
Saving the market graph from the past years can help us to predict what will happen on the next few days.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
ive preserved my local history. as in i have saved countless screen shots of the pools i mined at (logs, hashrates, miner payouts), exchanges, receipts of mining hardware, pictures of my gear. printed a lot of that out too.

did it mainly to prove where and when i got my btc. in this heavily KYCd country (USA) one will surely need to prove where that btc came from. and where the money to buy miners and btc came from too.

so, i did it mainly for myself in case i ever need to prove where my sats came from.

We don't need to do that, wasting time because market is unpredictable and knowledge always grow up, in this case we can see from history chart because up date information more needed than analysis the past. I only saving my history strategy and record it into notepad as my valuable journey. Stay focus with future with analysis past is good method and term but now we face something different. All manipulation, speculation and gambling make market not healthy any more.
Yes it is absolutely a waste of time because if you want to take a look at some informarions about crypto world or cryptocurrency you can just take a look at it on the internet. We are in a technology advance century and all of the things are can barely find in the internet. Collecting or gathering the datas about crypto world are time and space consuming most especially if you're gonna store it to your gadgets.

the only record of a bitcoin site that I followed was from a transaction email notification. more emails about withdrawals. like Hashocean a few years ago. which is very booming among crypto hunters. based as cloud mining (possibly HYIP) can last more than 1.5 years. others I have never recorded in the form of video or photos.
