I think altcoin will tend to be new and change a lot in the next 5 years. Too many altcoin really do not promote the available gadgets on the market. Holding a lot of altcoins is not a wise decision mate. Because lots of altcoins are dying and they will not recover! Many Altcoins are scamming or no update at all! Though Altcoin will last for the next 5 years but not every altcoin! You need to hold good altcoins like the top 100 coins according to coinmarketcap ranks for a long time, and sell low volume and inactive altcoin and turn them into Ethereum!

Well to be honest that’s difficult to predict, some coins may flourish towards the next five years some may die or decline. A lot of factor may come along the way such market status bulls and Bears. it is beat to keep an eye to all your coins and have a flexible platform to exchange to a more stable one should it decline.
So in a nutshell, in the next five years the really good altcoin will exist. And the altcoin created for scam will surely die. And that is absolutely true, the market is becoming more strict and gradually the altcoin scam will die, leaving only the altcoin good and useful to the community.I think that for most altcoins this will be the last bull market and then they will die. 90% of altcoins are garbage and are created only to enrich their owners. Only the best of the coins which will have a huge potential to grow as their need be existing in coming years will survive rest of the coins better to sell during the bull run as after that these coins value would not rise much and you might end up getting nothing on those coins.

This depends on the technology, the pace of growth and the project behind the altcoin in question. Altcoin like ETH is great in nature and has been in a kind of contest with Bitcoin months ago. The value is down right now but this is something for the time being only. There are coins like LTC, NEO and ripple which are also preferred for some short term investments and are included in the portfolios to make it diversified so I do not think that altcoin which are on the top charts may fade away. 
yes, i strongly suspect that altcoins as well as other cryptos can still last for the next five years knowing that majority of them are still continue to develop and got a lot of real time suport from the large companies .
but lets accept the fact that not all alts will remain alive because some of them arent really useful . those type of alts can slowly decay over time as soon as bounty hunters and hodlers of those coins willl start to dispose them .

5 years is a long time in the very volatile crypto markets. Many altcoins will do very well over this period while a large number of those will go out of business. Just need to watch your holdings regularly.
