Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

I think that it will never  happen as existence of dollar is far more than bitcoin and even when we live in a world which is changing quicking, when it comes to money and transactions people want to play is safe, just like old school. yes bitcoin will gain popularity and might to accepted world wide but it will never dominate dollar, doesn't matter how weak the dollar becomes

Bitcoin will not replace dollar soon. At least not for the next 20 years. The user base of bitcoin is too small and governments will try their best to curb the usage of bitcoin.

It cannot, and should actually not replace any currency because we all actually need fiat unless Bitcoin gets used completely as a currency everywhere...
Whether or not, still most people in the world know what Bitcoin is, so even if governments try to ban Bitcoins, people will still use it...

Not yet! Bitcoin is still struggling to be legal currency to compete with dollar! Probably it needs decades to replace dollar! IMO they will coexist for a long time.

As many people have said, bitcoin won't replace the dollar. S country likes to have control over their primary currency, and they can't really take money out of your cold wallet, can they?
It is true, not possible a country to change its currency to foreign currency,
the dollar will remain, impossible for bitcoin to replace the dollar

Yes exactly true no matter how worst Dollar might down but still Bitcoin cannot replace dollars as the local currency any country. Probably a new born country can use Bitcoin as their currency but any established country will not give up their national currency for Bitcoin even though Bitcoin is much much more valuable than dollar and other currencies.

No, but they can create their own altcoins under the Bitcoin blockchain in sidechains, that's as close as it would get to Bitcoin replacing the dollar, but even in this case it would benefit Bitcoin itself greatly, the price would x10000000000.

I do not think they will create altcoin based on bitcoin. If their money supply unlimited, nobody will use their currency.

I highly doubt this will ever happen, in fact I don't want to see this happen. These are 2 different currencies, you can't just replace one with the other.
I think it would be the most horrible idea, think of all the debt the dollar has, that alone shouldn't even encourage you to want this.

I don't think that dollar will replace to bitcoin, because you need to see this like this they are people who still use cash and some people debit card.
Also you need to think that the goverment wont just replace.

Im sure in future bitcoin can replace dollar and bitcoin potential to be  "the money of the owrld"
it's time to plan " BTC "

Hahah! Plan BTC, well maybe it will be replace in the future, but it will take a long time to do that.
The goverment won't just replace dollar just like that, because you need to know that they are people don't use bitcoin.

It will replace Dollar But It takes at-least 20 years Because most of the bitcoin user are U.S. and U.K. So In future Everybody would like to switch into digitization and modernization only. according to this criteria Bitcoin will rule all fiat currencies.
There are a lot of Russian and EU countries using bitcoins and don't forget the dominating Chinese pools , increment's in legality of bitcoin on Japan.
But still there is very very less hope for bitcoin to reach mainstream cause it requires the whole world to be literate and have good knowledge in software's,security issues and stuff.
i would say it will be the only competitor to dollar in some decades.

Not really.... Right now the price is way too volatile to be able to be considered a currency, also the adoption rate is although increasing but not enough to say it's already mainstream. There is a lot of promo work and dev work to be done.

I do hope one days that could happen though.

I think that the dollar is unstable and fiat currencies have an infinite amount of issuance available, unlike bitcoins. There will always be a limit(21 million) to the maximum coins available to issue. There's no-one that has control over BTC so the public has the peace of mind. I think the public will realise how bad the fiat currency's concept is and turn to bitcoins very, very soon.

I think it's a very naive way to think about Bitcoin, bitcoin will NEVER replace the dollar, because that would set a dangerous example for the ruling elite, blockchaintech will replace the dollar, but it will be created by governments and banks, which the sheeple will happily trust, the first blockchain with build in manipulation that will be Sad

Well, it could be happen when people overseas didn't trust dollar anymore.

But with some conditions like, bitcoin distribution is equivalent, there is no pump and dump, more people use bitcoin rather than trader, etc.

Its certainly possile, we dont even know bitcoin 10 years ago and look how much bitcoin affected our life.
Now Im not saying that bitcoin will takeover USD or any Fiat currency for that matter, but I think it can co-exist in this near future.

bitcoin was released in 2009. bitcoin can become as a
alternate currency, but it wont be able to replace dollar
even after several decades, or more. bitcoin may
become popular in near future but replacing legal
currencies that wont happen.

Yes that is really true that just can't replace it, maybe just use it.
You just can't say that Euro will replace to Dollar.
