Debit cards have been along for a long time and they have certainly reduced the use of cash, but not fully replaced it.
Even with new innovations, such as Apple Pay, etc., is it likely that cash will dissapear entirely any time soon ?

Could be the same case with bitcoin vs. gold / cash.

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
Ha.. don't say for a long term prediction if they even cannot know when btc price going down.
All they know just say BTC will..
BTC will..
BTC will..

I'm too bored to hear that.
It's like someone who said someday BTC value can surpass $1,000,000,000,000,000,000 #facepalm

Bitcoin will take a long time to replace fiat currencies such as the US Dollar, but I'm sure that it would replace Gold someday, as it is a good investment right now (price going up) and it is like the "Gold" of crypto.  Smiley

Maybe the bitcoin will become very popular in the future,
But replacing a very popular fiat currency is really hard.
I believe that both e-currencies will be used online but no replace in the near future.

BTC will not ever replace the dollar. I am quite sure that a blockchain based digital currency will be implemented as a global reserve currency. It may be the dollar, or it may be some new international currency. BTC is a proof of concept and an investment vehicle. Altcoins are the R&D department.

Wrong. Bitcoin is Gold 2.0. It will be the "to go" place when goverment issued currencies fail. Goverment issued currencies will never be open source and decentralized. All altcoins are shit. Only projects like Maidsafe and Ethereum are worth anyone's time. Monero is good too until Bitcoin doesn't reach higher levels of anonimity. Other than that.. nope, nothing on the horizon. All of the cool stuff is on Bitcoin. The dollar will fall just like all fiats have fallen before, because they are based upon human decision and not math.

I don't see that happening in our life time.  Maybe 150 years from now, so right now on this planet not one person alive will see the fall of the dollar and be replaced by Bitcoin.  It might never happen as well.

The government will never give up its power to print money, so any chance of Bitcoin becoming an "official" currency is zero. However, if people use bitcoin to transact more than the dollar, that is not something the government can control unless they outlaw bitcoin. However, in order for this even to be possible, you will first need to be able to do everything with bitcoin that you can currently do with cash (and I mean, everything), and my personal opinion is that we are probably not capable of getting to that level of adoption within 15 years.
Yes!
They kick gold for this reason

Not at all, rather, blockchain technology will be adopted and placed into the financial system I think. Its early days but its coming. Didnt ebay file for 2 crypto based currencies recently?

it's worthless if not decentralized.

just like the internet is worthless if not global.

I don't think that bitcoin will replace bitcoin.
But bitcoin will be concurrent with dollar and other currencies for online transaction.
Because there are zero of few penny fee in transaction.

I disagree.  Maybe in the way off future if Bitcoin survives that long it might be competing with the dollar.  Keep in mind there are tons of people in the entire world who have no idea what Bitcoin is.  Not to many people don't know about the American dollar.

Bitcoin is now growing in price and as it might not replace the dollar, I could someday as it is a revolutionary way of payment. Block chain is the future and this is just the beginning of a very long journey.  Grin
