I think it is very possible than the digital currency will replace the traditional medium. As the technology advances even more, maybe one day the percentage of the usage of the technology 98.2% which the e-currency will be known and recognized as a medium in exchange and purchase. Due to that event it may lose the value of fiat money.

Personally I say yes as our society becomes increasingly dependent upon technology, digital currency will become a more popular means of paying for different things and it is more effective and instant. I haven't used much physical money in the past 8 years and I rarely had any problems with that.

What do you guys think? Wink
I do really think so that in the very near future cryptocurrencies will somehow replace the massive usage of fiat or real money because people will surely be starting to engage into cryptocurrencies which is in lined with the modern technology that is much easier to access and open for transparency wherein we can monitor the movement of our money. If the usage of cryptocurrencies will continue, I guess it will replace fiat but not that totally

Even before Bitcoin, many people use cards and online payments more than cash. paper money is for small purchases now anyway.

This is a very difficult question. States will never accept that they do not control the money issue. That is why the transition to crypto-currencies will be very difficult and long. But we are at the beginning of a long journey. I really hope that the crypto-currencies will put out fiat money
Put out? There is no problem about exchange cryptocurrency to FIAT money. As you said, the government never accept they can not control monetary system. This is the most power of them in the world's economy, if miss this power, they also do not need to be the government Cheesy.

Before I heard about Bitcoin, I thought that online banking would replace paper money because it is more convenient to use and is safer when you send huge amounts of money. Bitcoin has a chance to be implemented faster than online banking in some countries. I would rather use Bitcoin than depend on the bank which can do whatever it wants to my money.

I think yes, digital currency will replace paper money but it will takes time. It will not be easy to do  replace it in just a blast. Bitcoin needs to be more stable and powerful to do so.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I think digital money will never replace paper money. The value of digital money is unstable, it can not be used to buy everyday items, paper money is more common than digital money.
You are thinking of digital money and you are only thinking about bitcoin and other crypto when in fact there are more sources of digital money than that, paypal is digital money and it is stable and it can be used to buy everyday items, so you are wrong.

I believe one day digital currency can replace paper money. But I think I will not reach the generation where digital currency will replace money, because it will take process.  Everything undergoes evolution and I believe that paper money will also evolve, it may be not sooner but there would be a day.

I don't think so. Paper money still needs especially area no internet and blackout time. On the traditional market, we can't pay it with a debit card or credit card, we need paper money to pay it. But Crypto can be an important digital currency some day in future.  Smiley

I think this scenario is inevitable.  It's not a matter of it, but rather a matter of when.  There are certain countries now where digital payments are either on par with paper money or even surpassed paper money completely in terms of transaction level or amounts.  Technology is amazing this change from traditional forms of payments and transactions is already happening.

It depends on what you consider digital money. If things like bank accounts connected to debit and credit cards count, then in many ways digital money already has replaced paper money. When you send someone a check or buy something with a credit card, there's no physical money being sent around behind the scenes. As for cryptocurrencies, we'll see what happens.

Yes , our society is depending so much on technology but that does not mean physical materials have to be regardless. Bitcoin cannot replace the fiat money, bitcoin has a limit estimated to be 21 million which is very low compared to each country's gold deposit. In my own opinion , bitcoin is a currency created to transact online , buy and sell, but for replacing fiat its a big NO.

I definitely think that this may happen sooner. The current monetary system cannot survive in this digitalized world. Lots of innovative projects on crypto currencies will change the trade system first. This has begun and cannot be stopped.

As long as governments in each country still have their own regulation of the legal currency to conduct transactions in their country means it can't be said that the digital currency will replace the paper money. However, if a government has changed the rules and added digital currency into the regulation then it may not be able to replace the paper money because until now the digital currency is always exchanged first into paper money so it can be used to make various payments.
