Russian has changed more. The introduction of people of other nationalities has made Russia even more of a melting pot of nations than America.

Russia ain't Russia. But that's okay. China isn't China, and America isn't America.

Almost time to die again. Smiley

Russia has successfully maintained its white majority, despite decades of illegal immigration from the Muslim countries (unlike the case with the United States). For example, Russia was 88% White as per the 1959 census. It is 85% white as per the last census (2010). On the other hand, the United States have gone from 87.5% Non-Hispanic White in 1950, to 63.7% in 2010.

Russia probably won't live that long.    Grin

Russia had survived for more than 700 years, against overwhelming odds. They have survived the assault from the Mongols, they routed the French army under Napoléon Bonaparte, and they were able to defeat the Nazis under Adolph Shitler. Russia will survive, as long as the human civilization exists on this planet.

Almost every country isn't the country that it was. What I mean is, it has changed over and over, and the people who are living, or are ruling, simply use the same name. No country is the same, say, 3 generations down the road. Look at how the English language has changed even with loads of dictionaries to keep it the same. Russian has changed more. The introduction of people of other nationalities has made Russia even more of a melting pot of nations than America.

Russia ain't Russia. But that's okay. China isn't China, and America isn't America.

Almost time to die again.

Vladimir Putin will hold on to power as long as Mother Russia is willing to let him hold on to power. Funny thing is about the process by which Mother Russia let's her leaders know when it is time to leave, it is often sudden, not seen coming & you do not get to take much with you when you are let go. So few leave positions of power in Mother Russia on their own terms.

as long as Mother Russia KGB is willing to let him hold on to power

He can be  replaced at any moment, get some ilness and die

Why is that?
So far it seems like Russia is doing amazing.

All you have to do is go to a Russian dating site to see that the women are trying to get out, any way they can.

Besides, even though Yandex isn't a failure, it almost is. Yandex: the success story of an innovative company.

Your country may be your worst enemy
Pretty bad question. A better one would be to ask why every challenger disappears?
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead earlier this year.
Boris Berezovski was strangled in his London home.
Mikhaïl Khodorkovski has been forced to leave Russia...

This is the best you have got against Putin? Thieves such as Berezovski and Khodorkovski stole tens of billions worth of funds from the public funds, which resulted in the indirect deaths of millions of ordinary Russians. If you support these bandits against Putin, then you are not only against Putin, but against the Russians as well.

The problem isn't in the people I've named, it's in the Russian system. Can you name another country where political opponents get murdered? Or where they must leave the country? Those things do not happen in the UK, nor in Germany, nor in any other normal country.

Berezovski and Khodorkovski are not career politicians. They are criminals and murderers who looted the Russian public funds, when the American puppet Boris Yeltsin was the president. When Putin became the president, he came down hard on all these criminals and their Western backers. The real opposition politicians in Russia are people like Alexei Navalny and Yevgeny Roizman. Don't tarnish them by associating them with these crooks.

I'm not tarnishing anyone, you do. And note that you've failed to reply to my last question...

There could be plenty of people willing to challenge Putin if Russia was a normal democracy under the rule of the law.
Is is pretty saddening, even if there was someone good enough to be Putin's successor he has to be appointed by Putin himself. If he would be part of the opposition then he will be murdered?
For now it seems that if there is someone who challenges government in Russia he is being disposed of.

Do you think Putin will rule Russia for life?

Is there anyone, whom do you consider a viable replacement at this point?

Are there really options for someone new to take over after Putin's presidency will end?

Personally, I think he will. He has no legal obstacles not to go for next elections, he's probably the only candidate to win.

No, I think after several decades Russia will have a new president. I don't think he will rule when he is 90 years old.

Putin will be the next ruler again because there is no one till now can replace him. And when he becomes very old then only Russian will think about it to change the presidency.now there is no one who can oppose him with big numbers of questions. he has no legal issues. He is a clean man and have done many things for their countrymen.he will win the election again

Putin is doing a great thing, and I don't think he is going to step off the president's chair any time soon.
It's not like the situation's bad for Russians either.

The Russian economy has been growing ever since he took charge in 1999. The average wages have risen by as much as 2,000% during the 1999-2015 period. Back in 1999, the birth rate in Russia was almost half of the death rate. Now there are more births in Russia, when compared to deaths. The number of suicides, murders, alcohol poisonings.etc have gone down considerably. I don't know how Russia will fare under someone else, once Putin retires. But Putin has set the basics right.

Yeah you said it better Smiley
What I'd also like to add, Putin is successfully managing one of the world's most powerful countries and is in control of its army. So whoever is thinking of going to war with Russia *cough*cough* isn't gonna have a good time.
