No. Hell no. A BTC address affiliated with a mobile number is a huge problem in terms of anonymity. One of the pros of bitcoin is being somewhat anonymous to some extent, due to wallet addresses not being affiliated with any personal data or information that the wallet owner has. Connecting wallets/addresses to a mobile number will render this feature useless. You can use those services if you want. But don't come crying here saying that you lost your bitcoins because the service provider got hacked.

This important feature of bitcoin which is anonymity will be under threat if this should happen but that does not mean it won't happen considering that there are several companies coming into bitcoin and not everyone wants to be anonymous and at the same time people are ready to give up anonymity for convenience which that might bring about. Using the banking system for example, with my phone number, I can virtually do anything without having to open an app or connected to the internet.

Hi guys and girls.
What do you think will they ever make BTC connected with our mobile numbers (so we could pay with it)?  Cool
you can send bitcoin right from your mobile wallet, scan qr code or paste an bitcoin address and send. why do you want it to be connected to a mobile number?
That is not what i was wondering about, my question was can you go out on dinner and pay with it like credit card (plus i didnt say that i want that i was wondering is it possible) .
not yet mate that's still a way far since adoptions are not fully implemented and like what others said it will break the purpose of bitcoin being anonymous if you will provide and connect your mobile number your wallet will now be traceable and for sure if you have a lots of bitcoin your identity will be revealed.

Maybe some think that this could be very convenient but actually that would scare away many users from Bitcoin. Even now anomimity is on very low level, much lower than it was at the begining of Bitcoin, and connection wiith your mobile phone number would finish it. Many, including me, wouldn't like that.

That should not take place anymore, because here too people use additional mobile number and have wallets. It's like a to track every transaction happening through the particular mobile number. It looks similar to the norms that some service sectors follow to know their customers identity.
I thought that  anonymity is among first places with all btc or crypto currencies.

This idea is absurd as bitcoin will never be bitcoin anymore. We knew bitcoin became popular because of being anonymous and why they had to connect it with mobile number? People can easily track you and will know you from the telecoms company if someone wants to know who's this person that made millions or thousands of dollars sending to other people.
It is right that due to anonymous feature bitcoin has become popular across the world very soon and people want to keep secrecy especially regarding their income. Bitcoin has not yet been legalized fully in the world so in near future it is not possible for bitcoin to be connected with mobile number it may be only in one case when bitcoin recognized legally across the world like dollar.

Only the government can implement this thing but I'm sure of that almost the bitcoin economy will be subject unto this thing. There's no reason to connect bitcoin / bitcoin wallet into a mobile number, the feature of bitcoin for being anonymous will be void and we will look for some other coins if this will happen.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of anonymity?

If a telco provider teamed up with services such as Bitpay, it could be a possibility to just send coins through SMS and that would be economical too knowing that internet access wouldn't be needed. However, the risk is that you will be entrusting your coins to third party services.

We do not need that option. There is no added functionality if you connect bitcoin to a mobile number but risk security of the owner. If you can connect bitcoin to a mobile number, you can easily connect it to a face and criminals can easily attack owners of addresses with large amount of bitcoin.

Yeah i agree with your opinion and i think if that happen bitcoin is more easy to hack by some hackers today even bitcoin secure but still a lot of people there bitcoins got stolen by hackers
Was BTC unhackable  when first aired on internet? I think not.

Bitcoin is not that easily hacked though there are ways to hack a bitcoin wallet provider especially the one's in the exchanges or without the private keys. I think even if we connect our bitcoin wallet into a phone number, there will be no dramatic change at all.

This is a very feasible idea, and you'd be surprised - there are potentially dozens of projects just like this that are in the works.

It wouldn't be such a far off idea to imagine a digital asset version of phone line credit being developed.

There are already several versions of this in various countries in Africa and Asia, where phone credit is being used as a form of currency.

Using blockchain technology in this area will obviously boost efficiency, and provide that all important verification layer that is so essential when dealing with any kind of transaction.

So really, it isn't difficult at all to imagine Bitcoin or any other digital asset being linked with a mobile phone number as you suggested.

This is very possible... and there are potentially dozens of small teams based around the globe, who are perhaps working on something similar to this

I don't know about near future, but in India we have a bitcoin exchange, Zebpay (Android only) and in this app my mobile number is my unique ID (registration through mobile number only), all my bitcoin transactions and withdrawals are linked to my mobile number and I can send bitcoin to any Zebpay user by entering their mobile number, works like a bitcoin whatsapp wallet Grin

There is M-Pesa, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-Pesa

A mobile phone based payment system. Users can send and receive funds through SMS, no internet connectivity required. I don't think a mobile based, offline, SMS based transactions system would be feasible for bitcoins.

I think it is connected to a wallet that I know which is the coins.ph but it is not connected there that you can use it to pay some of your friends bitcoin but rather a security. I think it is pretty lame to make that in the future.

Considering there is an ethereum name service which maps .eth domains to wallets, connecting btc with a mobile number is not a far stretch.
