Hell yes, IRC is wonderful.  You can run it in a terminal environemnt so it's perfect for debugging your shit if your desktop environment is down.

Yes, I understand there's functionality like that available within IRC, but I've only used it for chatting.

I'm no pro by any means, but I don't think it's necessary to install anything. I access the Digitalcoin IRC channel through a webpage.

https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#digitalcoin

I fall into the "once in a while" camp.

no it isn't but I enjoy the features of a full client. the web client is fine for once in a while or those who don't keep lots of tabs open.

funny this came up.
I was thinking of installing it again just to check out some channels.
I usually hung out in the wild west efnet. Either the channel @'s were afk/bots or power trippers with their cliq.
Never had much reason to check out the other networks at that time.
Only 1 person I personally know uses it, it's too complicated for the rest.

no

reason: i'm too lazy to install it and verify if the claims that it is not dead are true or false
It's supported online in some websites

there is a channel for any project, distribution, filesystem, or topic you might need to consult someone on. I don't read them all the time but its invaluable resource when an idea or question pops in your head.
+1

It's alive and kicking and the fastest way to get help with numerous projects, including Bitcoin.

I use it when I need to contact someone on support, some sites still use IRC as their support channel but other than that I don't ever use it.

I use it whenever necessary (contacting support and what have you) but not for recreational use. I miss the old IRC days, may start using it again. Smiley
