I also report plagiarism after I warned the OP of that thread to quote the source and he/she ignores my warning.
How has this work for you? There's no need to ward plagiarists I think.

I also had the same habit in the past but now I tend to report it to the mod directly. I think we've been very lenient about this and on top of that, this no-plagiarism rule is posted on top of the board (sticky thread) so if they don't even bother to read it, I believe they don't really have the right to enjoy the forum.

But some OP can change too, however, the number is too small. It's inefficient for me.

I seldom use the report button. Ideally, I would just make a comment on the topic and also inform the OP to move his/her topic to the right section.

The problem with mass reporting comes in with the spamming of reports to the moderators. I use the options very selectively, not to waste the moderators time with useless reporting. I will report off-topic posts that are done by people to spam their signature, because it makes the whole forum experience bad for everyone if they just post non-constructive drivel in people's threads.  Tongue

I also report plagiarism after I warned the OP of that thread to quote the source and he/she ignores my warning. It makes moderating much easier, but it can complicate moderation, if people abuse this feature.  Angry

I believe most of senior members doing that. So this topic is dedicated to motivate newbies.

You are correct sir, this is main function to keep forum clean and deal with spam.
Moderators of this forum can't see everything, people can help them see things faster Smiley

Lately I am active on multiple borad and noticed that lot of post made on wrong board although post isn't bad. Most likely OP not sure where he/she have to make post. So in that case you can help them by report to moderators. So moderators will move the thread on appropriate sections. I like to encourage everyone to use this because you can help for right and useful discussion instead of just make generic reply on this kind of post.

I'd rarely report some post on the wrong section since the post I saw are not too bad so I will make post constructively trying to help and discuss about OP problem, and also tell the OP to post on the right section while adding the unofficial guidelines of Bitcointalk link on my comment to inform the OP for further reference.

My concern is some member just posting a generic reply to tell OP to move the thread without any further 'education' about the forum. I know that there is nothing wrong about it, but why they didn't just press the report button or PM OP.

Also you can send a PM to OP asking him to move his thread to the appropriate board, so he doen't start complaining as to why his thread was moved.
If he doesn't respond respond to your request, you can then report it to a moderator.
I am agree with you if you have enough time. Although not sure OP will respond or not but it's not bad idea. But for me I use report button due to lack of time and perhaps I will forgot about it later on. That's why I feel that report would be short solution. If I send PM then I have to wait for respons from OP. Everyone can found his/her post on his/her post history even its moved. So I don't think this is big issue.

That's good to know for future reference thank you. I always wonder where to put topics about privacy or general blockchain topics since it might not fit in Bitcoin or altcoin

What I do most times is to tell the creator of such post to look down and he will fine the right section to make his/her post in other to get the right response, because once a post is place on a wrong section it might never get the right replys and there by not giving the poster the right answer that can solve the problem.

I usually rather inform the OP, too instead of reporting a specific thread to a moderator. If a moderator would move a topic without notifying the OP I am sure a lot of people would think that their topic was deleted and get demotivated.

As title says, do you use "report to moderator" button during posting? Especially for main thread. Lately I am active on multiple borad and noticed that lot of post made on wrong board although post isn't bad. Most likely OP not sure where he/she have to make post. So in that case you can help them by report to moderators. So moderators will move the thread on appropriate sections. More thing is, you can report also spam or off-topic post/reply. So moderators will delete that kind of spam post. I have noticed lot of spam post during my posting and I am reporting as well because moderators alone couldn't make a decent forum. We can keep our role to help them.

If you don't know how should handle report then I would like to suggest below thread. It will help you to understand full details,

[Guide] Reporting effectively

Hope you will keep your role to build a decent forum.
