Send it to lightfoot.
I sent it to lightfoot after the PSU died and he flashed the firmware to boost the speed then he added 3 BFL chips and now I have a 20gh/s Jalapeno.
He does great work.
Here is his thread on it.  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hacking-a-bfl-jalapeno-to-32gh-and-beyond-336782
Send him a PM and tell him I sent you to him.
He can tell you how much and where to get the chips and everything.
In all it was only about a week and a half turn around time.  It would have been faster but I had to save up for the chips.

I got my 7ghs still running.  Wish i had the balls and skill to add a couple chips on it.

Unless someone offers to buy it, I'll probably run it till it or bitcoin dies (or i forget). just to support the community.

They are fun little miners and the fact you can boost them beyond 20 gh/s for a few bucks makes them even better.

As am new in Mining bought my Jalapeno on the 21/2/2014 its a 7Gh/s model.Runs since then nicely.
Even if I sell all other miners I have am keeping this...

I sold mine just after Christmas. Made a tidy profit off them. Feel it was a good call on my part as at this point I'd feel like I was definitely screwing someone selling them a jalapeno but back then it was only 'maybe, probably screwing' so used that little moral loophole to get out. Got a 300 gh/s monarch on order though, so I should get that up and running sometime around the heat death of the universe.

A little optimistic on getting that Monarch aren't we? I'm not sure if 2 weeks comes before or after the end of time, gotta ask Mr. Hawkings...

If you have 45 of them definitely get ahold of lightfoot.  If you bump each one up to 20 gh/s or more you will have 900 gh/s!

I have 45 of them

I'm still running my 2 Jalapenos(15 g/h combined), and they get me 0.0024 btc's combined per 24hrs; this is equivalent to $1.35 per day at current btc prices; electricity is $0.35 per day.  Why?  It is still technically profitable, I enjoy running a mining machine (will only buy bitcoins this year), and I have to consider that I am mining for bitcoins that will be worth $10,000 instead of current prices; this means that I am really making about $24 per day for having them running.  Anyone else running dinosaur tech gear?

Interesting question, I think the answer is yes, I bumped into someone that had one today and was using it.

Cheers!  Oh, and if you have something to spare, please consider a small donation to this project to help humanity:

Thanks!

Exactly, plus the tweaking and upgrading is fun.
It's fun to go into my library and see my little mining operation or downstairs to my server room and see my avalon chugging away amid my servers and switches and such.

Yeah, if you think it would worth $10,000, please sell your jalapenos and buy BTC.. you should earn more then double this way..

I was thinking the same. I guess its more of a mental thing really. Running them yourself you'll feel like you got some sort of hands on use from them. That's the excitement from it all, watching that fresh minted coin come in.

One thing you could do is point them at an altcoin to maximize and extend their lifespan.
That is a great way to keep them going.
I have my gear all running too.  Even my 4 USB block erupters.  You can use MultiMiner to control which units mine which coins.
It works great.
That being said I will buy your Jalapeno for $75 shipped and pay with BTC if you like.  Smiley

I'm still running my 7GH/s Jalapeno - I paid $100 USD to upgrade it from the original 5GH/s (and later found that people who hadn't upgrade got the upgrade for free!)

I'm even still running 9 ASICMINER Block Erupter USBs, which have been mining 24x7 since July 2013.  Actually, I'm still running every piece of mining hardware I have ever bought.  At some point I need to cull out the less efficient ones...

That would be an excellent way to use older gear I hope it pans out.

ispace.co.uk >>>thinking about mining a non-exchange coin with my fpgas soon to hopefully make their money back.

do you have to buy the upgrade chips to get 20 g/h or can I just download and tinker with a few things to get that rate?

You know what is ironic is that once I had mine upgraded to 20 gh/s it was actually less noisy.  I have the case off for better airflow but the fan runs at about half speed most of the time so much less noise and the temps stays down usually around 48 to 51 c.
Not too bad.

If you can put up with the noise, why not? They are still mining more BTC than they are using electricity, even at $0.30 / kWh.

I believe I have 8 running - some hidden away in a basement and others in the back of a data center rack.
