Why not switch to SolidCoin mate ?

Amm ... why yes?
There are numerous reasons I think LiteCoin is good, the release schedule being one of them.
As for SolidCoin, a thread of an IRC chat between Gavin and Coinhunter showed me that I should have no dealings with SolidCoin.

Care to show us ?

I left the miner up all night, and I don't see any interesting balance in my TBC client. I am fully connected, at block 14,577.

Update: I did solve a few blocks after a few days. My first crypto currencies that I mined with my hard earned hardware! Thanks Locust!

However, I will be switching to LiteCoin when it's released.

So what's up with not paying the 50,000?
You've still got 7764998 in tFzfqw3FvCPTYYJ9x4nfd99UpG8XyQkKDk

TBX already has an exchange that is workin' fine. I see no reason to pay 10 times its fee just to have a second one.

If anything, at this point I believe new exchanges can be relegated to the care of the invisible hand.

Nah my point was where you got the actual 5,000 from.
It's the 7mil's first transaction that used some of it: block 10017
(the previous 7mil transaction was simply an address transfer)

So what's up with not paying the 50,000?

BTC-e hasn't actually done anything with their 5000 it's just sitting there
(though at most it's like only 50BTC so less than $250)

Hmm looking at the 2nd level faucet address tFaucetH2xmCj2NFxUHwKkdHnXQyGPGJ43
that holds the initial 500 - someone had some spare time ... Smiley

So a look through the block-chain before it opened should find an exact 5,000 transaction ...
Showing your address and a BTC-e address ...

Exactly, and I specifically demanded that they post it, with the receive address, so that none will be able to claim that I am engaging in some obscure activity.

I'm surprised you missed it

Little known fact - exchanges either don't want to bother with "neocoins" at all, or they require the coin "author" (or whomever contacts them) to provide a liquidity boost.

Liquidity boost sizes provided to btc-e are published on their website in the "opening exchange on pair X news"

Can you clarify what this means?
E.g. on TBX/BTC it says

"Exchange received a bonus at the address 5000 TBX tPrATxxGCNsWrJ1bdzBE8Gw6pxrXsHiv8p"

Does it mean you/someone gave e-btc.com 5000 TBX as a fee, for them to open up the exchange? Or am I misunderstanding?

Yes, and I openly said that in thread and IRC before proceeding, so I was more open than open office about it.

Also, just for your information, another exchange (I won't name them, they did me no wrong after all) demanded 50 000 (fifty thousands) TBX for opening a TBX exchange.

So btc-e are good people Cheesy

What was the reason for the 7.7 million number? Did 7.8 seem like it would be too much? 7.6 not enough?

Arbitrary number, since it appears quite apparent that there is no way to arrive at a "noncontroversial" number. To be frank, just used same number for GG and TBX.

Unless someone can propose a protocol for selecting a "good one", this number is as good as others

I propose that right now, a single individual owning 10% of the current coins "for the benefit of future development, bounties and whatnot" would be far less suspicious than someone owning 90% of the coins for those purposes. Everyone should decide what's trust threshold is.

That is what I meant. 10% of current coins more acceptable than 90% of current coins ! But they ( lolcust/artforz/bitcoinexpress/SAC ) dont seem to understand that.

People mining and trading TBX right now apparently disagree with your assessment, and their subjective opinion has no reason to be considered inferior to your subjective opinion.

Good luck to them and to you.

7.7 shows he is 7+7 = 14 yrs old !

No, it's 7-7, meaning that I am a supernatural "undead" presence that never lived and affects world around by manipulating digital devices through spooky action at a distance.

Current coins are a meaningless metric, especially when there is no upper limit on mining.

Also, as far as "everyone should decide" is concerned, you should realize both apparent intractability of having "everyone" have a say, and reconciling the opinions of "everyone" into some meaningful decision.

People mining and trading TBX right now apparently disagree with your assessment, and their subjective opinion has no reason to be considered inferior to your subjective opinion.

He did not even bother to premine them.

Simply because that would have caused my fun-d to bloat the blockchain, and I decided that it would be mean of me to make other people download megabytes upon megabytes of my fun-d when I can fit it into one little block.
