You can google it, OP. In case of US lotteries it's usually 180 days to claim the money. In some cases it's 90 days, but no less than that.
In the UK national lottery it's 180 days and in the EU it's the same.

If you win an online lottery, the win is credited to your account and should be available as long as you have access to the account. If the casino is located in any of the above jurisdictions, the time co claim should be at least 180 days, or unlimited, although some sites can have a specific time to claim written in T&C.

Yes, you read that accurately.

If I buy several lottery tickets and then leave my account dormant for a long time, say at least 6 months, and my ticket wins the jackpot during that time.
Will anything happen to my prize money? Will the casino refund my money because I never claimed any of the rewards?

It's just a thought I've had for a while and decided to ask here in the community.

It does really depend on a certain terms and conditions on each site but if we do speak about physical/local casinos then it would be playing around 90 to 120 days or max of 1 year before your winnings would be forfeited.
I dont have idea if this one would be applicable or been applied on online casinos about on how long those prizes would be forfeited but come in mind that once you do hit up a jackpot then they would definitely be crediting those winnings into your account automatically or on a specific period of time.If ever you wouldnt be able to claim it out then it would really be no problem  since those funds would really be just still on your account
and its up to yours whether you would be letting it sit there or it would be a waste if you totally forgotten about it. This is why we should really be mindful if ever we do make out some bets or gamble into our accounts
or simply being that mindful about our accounts that having some funds or active bets.

In my country, it will take a full year before the claim expires.  So winners have 1 year at most to claim their winnings but I think every country has their own set of claim expiration so I may say it varies from country to country or if it is in an online platform, we can ask the support staff for that.  So yes lottery rewards expires depending on what is written on its terms.

It's best to give the information as to why you'd not gonna be around in at least 6 months, that's too long and the casino might consider you dead lol But I think if it's a crypto casino, they will just credit the amount to your account if you win.

Let's say it's an offline casino, there is an expiration as they said. Sad that no one will claim your jackpot. For 6 months, what would you do by that time, jailed and you don't trust anyone?
If it's an offline casino, sure there will be an expiration since they will need the winners account information for the payment of the winnings, and one does not or should not expect them to wait for the winner that long..

But for online casinos, like you said, they will simply credit the winning to the users account, when ever the user comes online, he or she can withdraw the money, this is if the casinos is legitimate though, there are some online casinos where if they don't see the user online for like 3 to 6 months, they probably will assume the user no longer exist and withdraw the money.

Based on the Freebitco.in and I checked it now, it will never get expired.
You can ask this on the casino staff too.
Yes, I also think it depends on the terms of the casino itself.

At Freebitcoin, like in some other online casinos, winnings get credited instantly. It's online...

But when it's come to offline lotteries and buying tickets it's different. Maybe a month or two ago I saw an article about some German lottery, after 3 years nobody collected the main prize and the money went back into the prize pool. Every big lottery has its own ToS, lottery tickets expire after some time, depending on the country it can be some short or long period of time...

Quick research:
Quote
Do lottery tickets expire UK?
We hope a lucky player comes forward in time but if a valid claim is not received within 180 days (around 6 months) of the draw date, the prize and any interest earned on it will go to benefit National Lottery Projects across the UK.

I just checked, and in my country, it's 60 days:

Quote
The "State Lottery of Serbia" points out that the lucky winner has 60 days to contact them, and if he doesn't, he will lose the "lotto" millions he won.

Wait again,  if it is an online lottery such as offered by a casino then I think the reward is automatically credited to your accounts -snip-

That's the clue of this topic. What many are calling "physical lotteries" expire because nobody claims the prize in a certain time (90-180 days), but this is not how online casinos work. There, as rewards are automatically credited, there is no need to claim anything, so this rule makes no sense. Yes, inactivity can still pose a problem, but the deadline for it to happen is usually much longer.

So now, answer this question: what do you prefer, finding in a drawer an old lottery ticket dated last year and worth 100 millions, or a hardware wallet you forgot about in 2015 which contains 3 BTC? Many people don't know that lottery tickets expire, so I hope that after reading this thread you know the right answer.

If you are pertaining on physical lottery then it has an expiration since the jackpot prize needs to be claimed within the duration date or else it will be add back on prize pool since your tickets is considered loss if you didn’t claim immediately. Check the specific duration dates on your lotto website to make sure te]he specific duration because they have different duration date based on the type of lotto that you are playing.

But online casino lottery obviously doesn’t have expiration date since your reward is automatically claimed and sent to your wallet once the result is out and prize settled.

It really depends upon lottery to lottery and every lottery will have different rules of their tickets expirations. I know there are few physically lottery which will be valid for 3 to 6 months but online lotteries have much lower durations. Its always better to read the term and conditions of the lottery where you want to participate and you will get to know about their expiration.
Also mostly casino will not refund you the money, even if you do not claim any rewards.

Which website you are talking about? There are thousands of website with the lottery system. I’m sure everyone must be having their own workflow when it comes to defining the timeline. For example, if you check feebitcoin then you will their lottery tickets can be accumulated until the prize is drawn. It’s simple lottery with weekly cycle so I am sure it’s valid only for that particular period of time.

However there could be another tickets such as GT which are valid for period of six months. So in that case that would be by default valid for six months.

The website which you talking about should have such rules, better check and play along.

Not quite sure but if I'm not mistaken there's a code in every ticket or such that tickets are numbered which could be a factor especially with land based lotteries. Also, it would be impossible that lottery providers would allow people to have such advantage right? So more likely there's an expiration. With regards to online platforms, I think same thing goes for it. It is simply the edge or advaantage from doing so in which providers cannot allow to happen but on the other hand there's a slight tendency for such lottery combination to be doubled, trippled or more (well winners would have to split the prize in most instances therefore, this is not subject to bankruptcy.) At the end of the day, lotteries won't make it possible for them to be pushed due to their own scheme perhaps being condifent that the number of bettors and the amount they are getting, is still sustainable to the platform or provider itself.

In the Philippines, if you were to purchase a lottery ticket and you subsequently left it dormant without claiming the prize money, you have one (1) year to claim it counted from the date it was drawn. Failure to redeem such prize would constitute a forfeiture on your part and the prize money would be re-circulated or donated to charity, whichever is the case.1

For casinos, I think it depends upon the ToS and their rules/regulations about lotteries. They have their specific mandates and rules on how long the prize would be valid for redemption. As far as I know, the redemption period has a lifespan of at least <12 months in order to fully receive your prize.

Have you ever read the bonus rules that are given at every casino, each casino has different rules about bonuses, except for your balance in the account.

For your answer, you mainly go to the casino and see and read their rules regarding lottery tickets, bonuses and so on, that you left here, of course you never claimed the bonus, you will find out the lottery ticket, the bonus is still stored there or expired.

As far as I know, some of the casino bonuses or lottery tickets that you get and never take, some of the casinos are yours to lose, it is assumed that you have been inactive for a long time, and some of the casinos are intact, does not disappear even if you are on vacation for one year, when you visit the casino your fixed bonus, for that I suggest you visit the casino that you have played at, see if there are still lottery tickets or they expire.

I feel that with some casino's, if the prize money is unclaimed, they may need to retrieve it so that it can be rewarded to another person who is available to claim it. After a period of time and your reward money is unclaimed, many things can be assumed to have happened to you.

How can that be possible that a casino will retrieve a lottery reward from an unclaimed participant due to one reason or the other and give it to another account or person who did not participate. You have to participate in the lottery or have an account registered for that to be entitled to a reward and you won't have to benefit from another person's win. If the participant is unable to claim it I think it returns to the casino but not to someone who didn't apply for it or qualified for it.

Online or physical lottery tickets?

If there is a physical lottery in our country, it will expire,

If it is a physical lottery, it has a period of 3 months depending on my country, if you do not claim the prize, those funds will go to the benefit of the towns

I'm pretty sure OP means an online lottery. You don't get accounts that can lie dormant when you buy a physical lottery ticket.

If I buy several lottery tickets and then leave my account dormant for a long time, say at least 6 months, and my ticket wins the jackpot during that time.

With online lotteries you have to read TOS as each company will have their own limit but in general they do expire. The whole company can go out of business too if you wait for too long. Wink

Pretty good question, I also have the same question as you.
because I haven't done gambling behavior like this, got a number then I left it in brackets for quite a long time, so I don't have the experience to tell you, sorry in advance.
But if there is a necessity to claim a winning prize in the rules, what we win will be lost because you don't claim it with a time limit, but if there are no such rules and usually when you get a win it is immediately entered into your wallet/balance it is possible even if you don't open it within six months.
Also, with a note that gambling platform  is still operating until the day you check it, if not, of course it will also disappear even if you get a win. That's my logic. CMIIW

I think this depends on the casino, I've never played the lottery outside FreeBitco, and my experience there is that, you could leave your account dormant for several years, and your funds will still be intact anytime you decide to enter the site again.

I left a small amount of bitcoin on my FreeBitco account since 2017 when I last logged in, till 2021 when I logged in again, and to my amusement, the bitcoin were still there, so it very much depends on the casino, I believe information concerning this should be contained in the terms and conditions of the casino, so very important to read that up.

^I don't know which lottery casino you are talking but I am sure that is an online casino.
However, all your questions will probably be answered if you will read the TOS of which casino you are talking about, everything was on the TOS and each casino has its own terms regarding this matter.
Based on the Freebitco.in and I checked it now, it will never get expired.
You can ask this on the casino staff too.

Yes, I also think it depends on the terms of the casino itself.
Some of them that I have seen, they have conditions when it comes to lottery rewards.
If you have tickets, much better if you will regularly check the results of the lottery.
Lucky if you play on freebitco, as there's no expiration, you have no worries if you forget to check out your account.
But when it comes to other lottery games like the physical ones, much better if you always check before it is too late for you if you luckily got it.

The different casino are formed by different individuals, and you should know that although there will be some similar terms in how they operate, there will also be a few changes that each of them have made to that will be unique to them. You have to know the terms that every casino has towards their lotteries, so you will know exactly. I feel that with some casino's, if the prize money is unclaimed, they may need to retrieve it so that it can be rewarded to another person who is available to claim it. It's very unusual to have people abandon their accounts say for half a year with a jackpot prize win in it. Not quite sure if anything would happen to your money under normal circumstance but for an offline casinos there's a probability that they can't hold on for such a long period capitalizing on the idea that maybe the prize winner could be dead for wasting such duration of time in claiming their prize. So either they might invalid you as the winner and give it to the number that appeared as the  second runner up. OP, It's better imagined than going through the whole saga!
