The prize can expire and the casino will use the prize for a new period.
They assume that the winner cannot collect the prize and do not give reasons.
And I think it will also happen to offline casinos where when they can't contact the winner, they will disqualify the winner and maybe replace it with another winner.
But I guess it does happen to people because they hope so desperately to be the winner and the last thing they do is buy the ticket and leave the casino.
It's possible that they won't be back for another 6 months or they may never return to the casino.

Yes, you read that accurately.

If I buy several lottery tickets and then leave my account dormant for a long time, say at least 6 months, and my ticket wins the jackpot during that time.
Will anything happen to my prize money? Will the casino refund my money because I never claimed any of the rewards?

It's just a thought I've had for a while and decided to ask here in the community.

It depends on the website and the online casino you're playing with. If you haven't claimed it yet, what's stopping you? Some may have time limit as to how much long you can only claim your reward or profits and if you don't you will lose it. Some send it directly without claiming notice. But there's a bigger risk for not claiming you're prize money is when the gambling site you're playing with gone backcrupt or just begone all at once. There you cannot do anything about it. So if there's a chance, claim it and store your prize on your own wallet so have the control over it.

All lottery tickets do has an expiry date and this refers to the terms and condition of the provider, maybe duration give for claimant and if you didn't meet the required time and date of longevity then the provider my decides to forfeit it since you didn't come to come claim it within the duration given.

Most of the casino doesn't give extra time rather they requested the owner to claim it with immediate effect otherwise you don't longer have access to it again. However, the terms and conditions are always on the casino site before you could play and win a lottery always make sure that read the instructions carefully as other not to Violate the rules.

       -  On the physical lottery outlet yes, you were right that within 6months if the jackpot winner didn't appear to get his winning rewards it will automatically forfeit. Now, in terms of discussion in online gambling, I'm not exactly so sure if they also have the same procedures in it.

Becaue as far as I can see that once you win in online lottery most of the time the jacpot winner always get his winnings at once.
They don't let it last more than a few days as far as I know.

Wait again,  if it is an online lottery such as offered by a casino then I think the reward is automatically credited to your accounts once your number is the lucky number and logically some lotteries such as physical lotteries of those played in the casino would have an expiration date and if the prize winner doesn't claim the winning within a certain time,  the winning may be revoked according to the term and condition and if this becomes the case it will be clear to the player to know the stances and the duration of claiming the prizes.

It will be weird if winning tickets do not have expiration dates. But maybe there are countries or companies that are offering no expiries on their winning tickets? After all, it's been paid and the prizes will once again start from their lowest and then grow back every time there are no winners during draws.

In my country, our lottery sweepstakes have a 1-year expiry date which is a lot of time already. Big winners usually do not claim right away for privacy purposes. I even heard about a winner in our local lotto sweepstakes that claimed his prize nearly a year already since winning.

Online or physical lottery tickets?

I just did a quick search on bc.game lottery article and nothing was written on the duration at which a lottery ticket that wins will expires or would become invalid for claim.
In my opinion, a user should be able to claim his/her reward anytime they Wish to, because I see no reason as to why they'll render the ticket invalid after sometime. If we were referring to a physical lottery ticket I would have judge that different but since I'm referring to an online casino then it shouldn't have any maximum duration at which it will be valid.
I think that the duration of the lottery awards may depend on the conditions prescribed in each particular lottery. Therefore, if you plan to take a break for a long time after buying a lottery ticket, then first of all you should study the conditions for the lottery. I think everything will be written there. Also, you should take the time to study the local gambling and lottery laws in your country, because, I think, depending on different countries, there may be differences. In turn, local laws may stipulate the period of time when a player can collect his prize money if he won it.

As a result, I can say that:
1 - read the lottery conditions from your service provider;
2 - learn your local lottery laws.

I know about the national lotteries if that is what you want to know. Usually it has a claim date or duration for you to come up with your winning ticket to claim it and if that duration is exhausted, you will hardly get that winning reward back. It is about 180 days that it is placed for claiming. So to that effect, before you play it you are told some of the conditions to claim it including tax on it just like claiming the huge winning from offline gambling sites .

Different platforms have different policies. If they have an expiration date, I think they will most likely take that prize and put it back in the prize pool for a future draw. And if they don't, then you won't have to worry about it. If you win any jackpot, they will contact you and tell you the process of how to claim it. Regardless of the time frame for how long your account is inactive. So if you want the best answer, you need to contact the specific platform and ask them directly. We don't know everything about every platform, so the best course of action will be that. If you really wish to keep your account like that, then ask the platform first and see which one will allow it.

I don't know about the validity of offline tickets, but in Italy the ones who usually win the biggest state lottery which is sometimes 100 million Euros they don't go and claim it right away, some people have claimed it a lot of time after the draw and that was still valid,so it depends from country to country regarding the offline lotteries.

As for online lotteries,I don't think it goes dormant at least in Freebitco.in I have seen dormant accounts who have won the lotteries and they were accredited to their account,so again even here it depends on the different websites politics.

If there is a physical lottery in our country, it will expire, and this depends on what kind of lottery game you are joining; they range from 3 days up to 1 month, and after that, you'll lose your winnings if you haven't claimed them as that is their agreement. But online, I am not really aware of it, but I am not sure why you will be leaving your winnings or, like, forgetting it. I mean, you can check it on a daily basis, like every minute, or they are also sending you emails to make sure that you won.
Lottery may have various rules, but for this reason, a lottery buyer must read the terms and conditions before purchasing the lottery. Lottery buyers will get all the information whether physical or online. A buyer to keep an eye on those things. In physical lotteries, winnings must be paid out with a specific time frame. Lottery winnings are more likely to expire if a lottery winner does not collect the winnings within the stipulated time. But there is no such problem in online. Because lottery buyers can easily monitor those things on a regular basis. If you win the online lottery, you will be notified by email.

There are different rules and regulations applicable to "brick n Mortar" Lotteries and also online Lotteries in every country, so this is a difficult question to answer. In my country you have 90 days to claim your Lottery winnings and after that it goes back into the pool for the next draw.

I can understand that they put restrictions on the time that you have to claim the winnings, because it is extra administration and risk for them to secure that money. I wonder if you get the interest on that money if you leave it there for a month or two... (not that I would do that.. if I won that money)  Roll Eyes

Read the Terms of Service of the lottery, in which you are participating. Everything should be stated there.
I don't know about any active lottery players, who would just forget about their tickets and leave their accounts. Grin
I don't think that the lottery would refund your tickets if you forgot to claim the jackpot. Probably the lottery platform won't pay you the jackpot, if you don't have a withdrawal method in your account. I'm no expert in online lotteries. We need someone, who is actively playing online lotteries to explain everything in detail.

I'd say it's rine but who's to say that a casino wouldn't be such an ass that they'd cancel your win because of an inactive account? Even if it was directly rendered to your accounts wallet, as long as it's sneakily hidden in their ToS that they can, they will do so. It's pretty much free money to them anyway since they technically "announced" it as a prize somebody won.

As for physical lotteries, they usually have a limit afaik? They're much more public about it though, since technically someone not claiming the prize just resumes the lottery again just lik when nobody was actually called a winner.

If it is a physical lottery, it has a period of 3 months depending on my country, if you do not claim the prize, those funds will go to the benefit of the towns

In general, they do expire. In Europe Euromillions and other lotteries you have 90 calendar days to collect your winnings, otherwise you will lose them.

What to do upon winning the Euromillions Jackpot?

Although it is strange because I see that in the UK, the time to collect the Euromillions would be twice as long:

Every player has 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize. f

Especially half a year is too long. So if there is a jackpot winning ticket in the casino it is better to withdraw the prize within that time if it is mentioned there. Otherwise various steps can be taken like stand KYC you need to be authenticated. So I think it's best not to waste time especially when you win prizes. Since you are claiming money without taking the prize, you should make your withdrawal decision very quickly.

There's also a chance they might remove the account, as this is mentioned in the terms and conditions of a few casinos. IMO it's rare for casinos to touch your balance, so I doubt the reward would get refunded or moved unless it's stated under their lottery's terms and conditions that they have the right to confiscate the reward if it's not moved for several months.
Centralized exchanges have that shit rule too. If we don't notice and don't read their Terms of Service, we can lose our online accounts and lose money too. Recent months, Twitter, Google tend to follow that trend to terminate inactive Twitter accounts and Gmail accounts.

It is not safe to store cryptocurrency in online account
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts, but it is more risky to store in online accounts which you don't log in after 6 months or longer.

Yes, they do expire. Depending on the lottery that you are playing and law of the land it is generally between 90 to 180 days. The same goes for online lottery too and it is recommended to always keep a track of the expiry date before and after the purchase of tickets. There are a few apps to help you with this issue. If do a Google search using the keyboard lottery ticket tracking apps. Some of them are from lottery organizers and some are paid apps. If you do want to use it then maintain a ledger with all the details of your lottery tickets.
