Base on my experience, every time that you have doubts on your card, no matter how strong it is, you will end up losing the game because you are not confident. Yes, I agree that interms of gambling its all about luck and skills is just an additional of the game. I always gamble and i knew the game well but if I am not that lucky even how I tried to stay positive and even how i tried to play the game with the best that I can still it is not enough for me to win and loss in the game. thinking positively will not help you in obtaining the Profit that you wanted but it would affect your emotional response whether you win or you lose. If you lose on a certain bet and you are still positive that you will win then you are still rational and think straight so you will bet according to your plan. If ever you win then there is a possibility that you will reach your target profit and stop gambling or become greedy and bet more. Positive thinking is vital on how you react to a situation.
If you are thinking negatively then there is a possibility that if you lose, you will become frustrated and bet all the money you have and expect a negative outcome. I am sorry but i need to disagree with what you have said. I may not be a gambler but i played occassionally and i can say that it is not all about luck especially when we are talking about table games. It needs strategy and skills though there are times that the presence of luck is with us while playing. Slots and dice games is different, there you need more luck than strategy. So it really depends on what game are you in to.having positive thinking makes you feel comfortable with your every bet resulting in a good outcome sometimes. It's possible that you can also be calm at a lossing streak if you're thinking positive like you can recover your losses or bounce back from a bad streak.
