- The price of bitcoin really has problems because its price is rising too fast and there is no stop sign, I do not know what the problem is, I just know if something goes up too fast or too slow, it will have the risk and trouble behind it
- Bitcoin too, it is a potential currency and the price increase is of course, but its price is rising so fast that it can easily collapse because the platform is not solid and not stable, the rapid price increase could be a trap for investors and traders

What market has a "stop sign" anyway? Isn't it a good thing if the price of bitcoin is rising too fast? That means that we are going to make more money. The people that have buy order at a much lower price will move up their offers so there would be walls below the current price of bitcoin. The walls on those buy orders might even be stronger than the walls before since traders would want the price to continue rising. They wouldn't let bitcoin's price go down so easily.

If something goes too fast, people say that it's even risky because there might be little support in the market. When the price is going too slow, people say that the investment is not good at all. People just don't know when to be happy about the market's behavior.

Price really matters as I think people take decision of buying or selling their coins looking only at the price so its really important factor for each and every user who is using bitcoins or who invested money in bitcoins.
I think all things or all of the functions of bitcoin will be related to the price, when you want to use bitcoin for shopping, of course rate will affect how much bitcoin should you pay and etc

If I answer you no then I'll be lying. Even though my hope is for us to see 1 btc equivalent to 1 btc some day with the price of fiat mean nothing to us, the current movement of the price still gives us the indication in how well accepted btc is and its demand. I do agree with your reasoning but until the I will still closely follow the btc price movement.
Yeah I don’t see the point of trying to treat bitcoin as independent before it has reached that level. In the real world most things one wants are not available to be bought with Bitcoin anyway. So, you always have to be looking at the amount bitcoin is worth to know what the total value of your BTC investment is worth. Eventually though I think it could be possible to treat bitcoin as its own currency and not compare it.

After two years and 150 pages, I wonder, has anybody asked:
"Does anything else but the price of bitcoin matter"?

Because right now Bitcoin is still fueled more by hope rather than other more important things (in my opinion).

Let's be honest if bitcoin would hover for 10 years around this price only like 1% of us will still be around.
It's like a honey pot where everybody thinks only how much he will make.

The idealists have long ago left the boat.

Really philosophist one!! Cheesy
Well, you can't put all the beeds in one string. I agree majority of Bitcoin enthusiasts are those who are with Bitcoin only due to significant increase in price but not everyone!! Don't forget, along with investing item, Bitcoin is largely accepted as means of payment! People are dealing and trading in Bitcoin units irrespective of fiat prices. Hence, there are still people who are exploiting something more from Bitcoin just than investment.

Hmmm. If so, then they have lost their opportunity to sell at this peak price of $1200. And they can even sell at a much higher price in the future. Bitcoin is fueled by hope to those that have no more money to invest. We are simply waiting for the price to increase. But to higher people or to the whales, the whole thing surely is a game. A game where there's full of connection to each other. Is China going to dump? Is Japan going to buy more? etc.

I will be honest with you that if the price didn't increase at all, I would still stick around. We're not simply holding bitcoins, we're also earning more bitcoins as time pass by. Thinking of the tremendous amount of altcoin crowdsales going on, I really doubt that bitcoin's price will stay the same since the popularity of cryptocurrency is increasing. It's always impossible for something that's built with the supply/demand relationship to have the same price within 10 years unless the market is already dead. To me, bitcoin will always have movements regardless if it's up or down.

For true devotees of Bitcoin, the price of the digital currency is almost irrelevant. They believe in its inherent value or, more frequently, cannot see any value at all in the alternative of government issued fiat currency. Price is therefore not a concern. At the other end of the spectrum, for those that harbor what appears to be an irrational hatred of Bitcoin and anything to do with it, the exchange rate also matters little. They were screaming that it was all worthless when the price was at over $1000, and somehow convince themselves that an exchange rate of over 200 times what it was before that bubble proves their point. For the vast majority of people somewhere in the middle, however, the price of the currency in Dollar, Euro, Yuan or whatever terms is important.

The price of Bitcoin definitely does matter to me and to a lot of other people as well. If the price was not as high as it is now, there would barely be any users. Most people are here for the price and how the increase of it will earn them some good profit. Hopefully the price of Bitcoin continues to rise so that more and more people get interested with it and invest.

certainly I want bitcoin price is always high and do not want the price down hehehehe

We all want that way bros. I think only whales that early sell their bitcoins will just wish to let the price dump so that they can ride again on the big waves. Price of bitcoin is all that matter before anything else, Bitcoin will be just useless once it dumps hard because investors are just investing because of it's price hike. No one will support a coin that no value at all.
It won't be useless even if the price of Bitcoin is dump hard. To prove that Bitcoin has rise every time it falls hard the only question is when will it rise. Also what I have observe every time it falls it always attempts to have a new high on its price. That is the good thing about the volatility of Bitcoin it always give us traders the chance to ride with it when its price is low and we have the chance of shorting it when we are comfortable with the price. The only problem about profiting with Bitcoin is that a lot of us are impatient of it to go up making other sellers sell on a loss.

the price is very important for anyone. for traders, investors, or merchants, regardless of the price they will not be able to do anything to use bitcoin.

As quoted without doubt the price of bitcoin matter a lot, because every move takes place with reference to the price and it has got increased popularity as well user profiles just based on its increased price than any other digital currency as well as the traditional currency that's been used worldwide.

It may be irrelevant to devotees of bitcoin, I think some of them are still relevant to bitcoin price because most of them are business man and entrepreneurs. As a business man, they are also thinking about their asset and how they investment are doing. That is a proof that they are relevant to bitcoin price.

The price of Bitcoin doesn't matter for a merchant that may accept Bitcoins as payment buy then immediately sells the Bitcoins. But for anyone that holds Bitcoins for any period of time it seems like the price does matter.
true, they do not matter what the rate or price of bitcoin .. merchants will accept that price. because the bear was of the user or buyer

I think the price of bitcoin matter more for a merchant because suppose if he will start his business with bitcoin and he will provide a service in some bitcoins and if the price of bitcoin double up then it will mean that the price of that service is also double so people will not buy anything from him until he reduce the price of that service to the market rate.

John Nash's theory of money states that an ideal currency would be viewed as a unit of measurement like a meter, but as money.  Bitcoin's value could theoretically match this requirement due to the fact that it's halvings will result in practically no new Bitcoin being mined in 2040, so the natural inflation/deflation rate will be 0, as long as adoption doesn't still increase

This is certainly not John Nash's theory

The concept of money as a unit of account has been around for ages, so there is no need to use Nash's name in vain. Apart from that, Bitcoin fixed supply gradually tapering off to zero is not a very good approximation to this concept. The reason for this should be straightforward, since the relationship between this unit and what is being counted will be constantly changing (due to dynamic nature of any real-world economy)
