Sweden has the largest collection of idiots the world has ever seen. I can say this because I am 1/2 Swedish.   You should read up on the copper as money idea, and basically how they invented fiat currency and how the people lost their life savings twice (I think it might have been in one generation too).   The story looks clear, the world switches to digital only.  However, remember the central banks will still be printing money to make up the deficits and loans to hardliners.  As result, the bitcoin complex will rise (note: I use the term bitcoin complex to refer to BTC, BCH BTG BTD and all real spinoffs as a combined unit) as they are fixed in supply.  All fiat currencies will eventually hyperinflate - Swedish Kroner, USD, Chinese Yuan, and the Euro.  The reason for this is simple, users will slowly switch to the bitcoin complex as it will be rising in value, while the fiats are dropping in price on a relative basis.  Workers want to keep their money.

Sweden is contemplating to stop using cash by 2023, does this mean cash might be extinct if other countries follow suit?

In the part of the world that there are no internet it is difficult for cash money to be extinct ,because you can only use this bitcoin when you are connected to the internet, and there will be enough signal that can cotter the need for the connectoin nd some transactions.

I don't think it will be easy for the whole world to be cashless. Because still many developing and undeveloped country also developed country are very much dependent on cash. But slowly many developed country started to think over the issue to be cashless. So let's see what happens.

Right even bitcoin is increasingly used it does not mean that the fiat will be replaced by bitcoin.it has no chance for bitcoin to replace cash.I know that cash will be increasingly rarely used because the times will be more advanced and digital technology will be more widely used. ATMs, credit cards, debit cards, etc will increasingly be used and cash will be less used. For me cash will never be replace

Not to sure that Cash will be extinct because many country will don't agree for it to make a world currency the decentralized currency that we have right here right now and it will not gonna safe for those who are not aware from using it, but if that's ok to them it will be ok to me that it will  become our cashless cities.

I hope not.. No matter how new technology is, we can't remove cash suddenly at the year 2023. It's five years from now, I don't think they can make it.

I don’t think cash will be extinct. It will depend on the leader or governments of that country. Not all the person knows about the new methods of cashless musty the indigent person they can’t adopt or accept this new kind of the system. What if the internet connection got a problem? How can use it? However, being cashless also have good benefits at all I think we can reduce that corruption because of the transaction is can be seen by all the people.
as you say, I have thoughts that are almost identical to you, all depending on how the government is applying it or not, because as you say not many people are adopting the new method, of course the economic factors of each individual influence it, every individuals have different capabilities in viewing the user of the method, not to mention the required internet connection to be able to access it,
but for something like corruption, I'm not sure can reduce it, because sneaky people have different ways to get what they want

I doubt it wil be extinct. I mean not unless all your people could afford to have a phone to do online transactions then eliminating fiat money will not help at all. Imagine how will poor people but stuff they need? Like food? A cashless country could help track everyone's spending and help to fight money laundering but then again you country should be stable enough not to have a person who is poor. That being the case, third world countries are out.

there is a big possibility, especially on big countries. in 3rd world countries, it is very much deficult to extinct cash. the first possible replacement to cash is credit cards which most people in 3rd world countries don’t have.

Cash will exitinct someday but not soon at my opinion. Our banking system still unsafe and digital money nowadays very hard to protect completly. Would be very sad if one hacker destroys whole country economy. Grin

The transition from cash to digital cash is the discretion of the Government by each country. If Sweden will now start to adopt cashless society. It doesn't mean other will also do the same. It all depends on each of the government by each country.

I imagine that in future our children and grandchildren will pay all transactions and goods and services with plastic cards or through electronic money transfers via mobile banking services on smartphones, which means paper money and coins will be extinct and not used again in the future.

We all know that our technology grows faster, cashless transactions will take place in many countries, but it will never remove cash because there were circumtances that online transactions were not applicable so they will use cash as payment. Best examples were small expenses that were daily encountered, if you will transacted it online, the transaction cost is greater than the payment of goods.

I think most country will see the result first if they can manage their economy by using another currencies except cash, because you know isn't that easy to change your currencies nowadays, and every single person knows how good this cryptocurrency. But involve all the society using this thing maybe need long time.

It will happen but I think not all countries will follow, as we know every country have it's own rules and regulations that they implement for the benefits of their own people, so if one country didn't see the need of it to follow,  they will not implement it.

Personally I will not accept that things happen because it only worsen the economic state of a country. Indeed later we will face the digital era but that does not mean if the cash will be totally extinct. The use of cash in daily activities is very useful also for real world interaction as well.

If that would be successful then the government will have to issue cellphones and cards to everyone. I don't think a third world country will followsuit. People who are poor and couldn't afford a phone to have their digital transactions. But then again, eliminating physical money sounds good. I mean we can eliminate the production of it. But are we sure our digital transactions are really safe with all the hacking going on. Just something to think about.

No, cash will not be extinct but if the government will implement the use of cryptocurrency in that certain place there will be chance that cash will be extinct, in places that cannot be reach by internet its hard for cash to be phase out, because how can those people transact business without cash, if there is no even electricity in that area,

In some places may disappear, but this does not mean that all countries will follow the example of Switzerland.

It is possible that it will happen. But I think it will not totally happen there's still a country who still use cash. because I this years there are still people who are not aware about bitcoin or let we say in the digital/crypto currency. There's a lot of people still use the caah and do not believe in bitcoin. I think in 2023 it is a big adjustment therefore it will not totally all the people did not use the cash.
