@DogeDev

Respectfully, resetting the voting and adding options made the chances of agreement much more difficult.  Cog had about 70% of the votes here for about 2 days beyond the deadline announced on the Twitter poll (where Cog finished 2, but not far off 1 and where there were about 1/2 the votes as here). Voting polls like the one here are better operated when you delete one or more of the lowest vote getter(s) and re-poll or re-talley until you get to a winner.  However, here, adding more choices has split whatever voters any of the previously listed choices had.  Please consider eliminating choices at this point so we can move towards something effectively. If you prefer to stick with DOGED, we should eliminate voting altogether.

No offense implied here, just my friendly suggestion

As someone else posted Hashcash is already taken - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash
As Zedux pointed out that is not a cryptocurrency so it's not taken ;]

Ok so let talk about this - we want to change the name from DOGED to move away from Dogecoin because of the confusion etc - then we use a term that has been around since 1997 to vamp and create a new brand?

Sorry, but that makes no sense at all.
There are a lot of reasons to disassociate from Dogecoin, a major part of that it being taken seriously. Associating serious proven and known terms like hashcash, tor, and i2p strengthens the product. Many words mean more than one thing, even most crypto names do already. This is a grand slam for marketing and rarely has this many traditional product naming strategies going for it.

Ok, lets associate with something mainstream society can associate with....
Like a #hashtag, a pound symbol on a phone, everyone knows that its a unique identifier for tags, a hash is an identifier
identified tag/identified cash, get it?

Yes I get it, but it lacks being unique - that's all I am trying to point out.
Like COGS and Capital and doge and bit and coin it doesn't stand alone unuttered in history, yeah. It really doesn't seem like a problem ever.

no just confusing:
https://hashcash.io/
http://www.hashcash.org/

Capital
http://www.capital.com/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_(economics)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital

Hashcash
https://hashcash.io/
http://www.hashcash.org/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash

This is the same argument. Nobody gets confused

Hash and HashCash are both very interesting options.

Part of the reason I like CoGs is that I feel like people might mistakenly search for it while looking for things like Steam (which also has a mechanical symbol --our coin has features on Steam) and I've realized, although a weird coincidence, the game CS:GO is the same letters as COGS but mixed up, which is another reason people might mistakenly read more about the coin and maybe find interest.  Just a weird realization I made.  Don't mind me, I've had a long day and smoked a lot of greens.

Unrelated to Steam, Cogs is nice because its neutral.  It its a tool.  It does work, no matter who you are, where you are from, or what culture/language you speak.  Cogs is trying to build a better future, it doesn't say exactly how, but its a building block.  Its a very powerful image.

I know we can get more then 2 votes for safecex.com exchange Huh Smiley

 Cool VOTE!! THANKS!!  Cool http://safecex.com/coin/add?q=DOGED

Too bad you need to make an account.
If I've got free time I will do my part.

I don't see the downside to requiring a person to log in before voting.

Helps prevent fraudulent votes, you can't trade without an account and why would they add a coin if the people will never trade it, or even take the time to register and express their interest.

don't think we need to tell people it's a form of currency with the name.

Lets focus on what sets this coin apart from other coins.

Secure Anonymous Network and a very competent and committed Dev.

With our new Darknets properly utilized THE NETWORK DOES NOT CONTAIN THE USER IP.
Making the currency UNTRACEABLE.

What about a name like STANCE This coin is making a stance for decentralized financial privacy.

The problem is the majority of the world does not even know "Bitcoin" is money. So why make it harder for them to adopt? It's a huge advantage to be associated money.
Once they look into the coin they will see why it shines.

Splash sounds like a Ripple knock-off.

A few pages back, I asked this question which I'll post again here just to raise the issue - not seeking a response per se:

Quote
How are people deciding exactly (i.e., what factors are in important in choosing a name)?

More questions to think about:

  • Who are the desired users (everyone, or just a group with a shared affinity)?

What is currency supposed to do?

How do you know what meets your standards and what does not (are there examples of each)?

call them bytes. not byte coin, or byte cent, or any coin name. straight up "a byte" or "bytes" if plural. if we were able to send messages to addresses, we could just attach a few megabytes to a message or something like that. i dont think people will like this idea because it might be too simple, but thats what i was just thinking about and it made me kinda laugh. right now there is about 8.68 gigaBYTES mined if my math is correct lol Tongue

How about DigiLite coin? Grin

Maybe worth considering if Digibyte bought up all the DOGED on markets Wink
That would be down to community members but could go a way to bringing the communities and developers together perhaps. Smiley

I like your thinking
