As someone else posted Hashcash is already taken - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash
As Zedux pointed out that is not a cryptocurrency so it's not taken ;]

Ok so let talk about this - we want to change the name from DOGED to move away from Dogecoin because of the confusion etc - then we use a term that has been around since 1997 to vamp and create a new brand?

Sorry, but that makes no sense at all.
There are a lot of reasons to disassociate from Dogecoin, a major part of that it being taken seriously. Associating serious proven and known terms like hashcash, tor, and i2p strengthens the product. Many words mean more than one thing, even most crypto names do already. This is a grand slam for marketing and rarely has this many traditional product naming strategies going for it.

Ok, lets associate with something mainstream society can associate with....
Like a #hashtag, a pound symbol on a phone, everyone knows that its a unique identifier for tags, a hash is an identifier
identified tag/identified cash, get it?

Yes I get it, but it lacks being unique - that's all I am trying to point out.
Like COGS and Capital and doge and bit and coin it doesn't stand alone unuttered in history, yeah. It really doesn't seem like a problem ever.

no just confusing:

Capital

This is the same argument. Nobody gets confused

I am not saying Capital is a better name

but CapitalX is...lmao

that's why I came up with CAPITALX

X - can stand for a lot, but the meaning behind it was EX, as in the replacement.

This will stand for replacing Capital.

the ticker could even be CAPX.

Hash is catchy, but it sounds like it is cannabis based. DOGED certainly in no cannabis themed coin (and I think we already have enough of those)
It's way more commonly used now in the name "hashtag". The "tag" part is what made it work. By extension "cash" is added to "hash". The name Hashcash and symbol HASH with moniker # fits nicely with the young internet Twitter/Instagram/Facebook crowd
It rhymes so you don't forget it (giant marketing advantage)
Easy to pronounce and nonpolitical
Obvious purpose conveyed in the name
Obvious security conveyed in the name
It nicely already relates to both bitcoin tech and social network tech
Plus it's fun to say!  =]

I have to admit, HashCash is pretty damn catchy.

damn catchy I've to agree! I mean Hash as hashcash is like saying fiatdollar or dollarcash it's very redundant.

Hash is definitely my new favorite.

If I could vote, I would vote CAPITAL - sounds official and all!
I think calling it "CASH" would be better for most instead of "capital", even though the general concept is on spot.
But check this,

Bitcoin + Cash = BITCASH
"Bitcash is anonymous like cash."
BTC2

On the exchanges BTC2 will show alphabetically right next to BTC giving newDOGED tremendous marketing exposure.

One problem with CASH is there is already a Cashcoin unfortunately Sad
That's why we call it BitCash
Also, that name shows just before Bitcoin alphabetically  =]
BITC is maybe a better ticker.

just tuned in after a couple months away.

Rebranding is a great idea but lets not make the same mistake that was made with the initial name.
DogeD has serious potential and a competent committed dev, lets not fk this up.

1) Do not attach yourself to another coin in name or reputation as that coin may become a joke (doge) or disappear altogether as the altcoin war of attrition continues.
2) Have a name that in 5 yrs will seems serious and lend itself to corporate marketing. (Alt timeline is still about 5 yrs out and like it or not for mass adoption to take place the evil corporate institutions will have to recognize the potential)
3) Logo has to be follow the guidelines above and be simple enough to recognize instantly. Great examples below.

These are exactly the things i have been pushing. Grin
COGS= an instant mental picture (people obviously picture different size and shaped cogs, but they still picture a cog or cogs)
COGS= never considered a bad thing in anyway, always looked upon as a vital mechanism.
COGS= Used all over the world in many forms.
COGS= Original. no other coin name similar
COGS= Easy to say (cogs) see  Cheesy
COGS= People often say to get the cogs turning in relation to solving a problem or thinking about how to solve a problem.
COGS= Welcome to the COGS revolution. that's what they do don't they, revolve ?
COGS= I bet GOOGLE was laughed at by many when it was mentioned as a name.( i couldn't imagine any other name than GOOGLE now)lol
COGS= Could also be used as C.O.G.S=Coin Of Great Service/Currency Of Great Service. or anything else that represents C.O.G.S well.

my important factors for a worthy name would be. (and lets face it, the name needs to WORTHY OF REPRESENTING THIS AMAZING COIN)

Originality/understood by all languages/straight to the point/easy to pronounce/no hidden meanings/a referral  to a physical thing/Catchy sounding helps

Ripple for example = Instant mental picture of a ripple, the ripple effect comes to mind, ripples turn into waves, every language has their way of saying ripple.
Dash for  example  = Instant mental picture (someone dashing a dash of lime etc) A mad Dash for the coin.every language has their way of saying dash.

Definitely don't like CAPITAL. we are not trying to come up with another word for money/currency etc.
People understand that cryptocurrencies are a form of currency/money/capital or whatever people want to call it (spondula's even)
where DOGED is different from almost all other cryptocurrencies is in the Secure Anonymous Network.
This coin is all about maintaining peoples privacy in regards to how much currency they have, or where they like to keep their currency.
Not even BITCOIN is as private as people had hoped it would be, they can actually be traced easily. Unlike this little gem of course. Cool

What about HASH guys? it sounds awesome its a strong name also it links to cash and computers.
It also is now colloquially as a # symbol. This can masquerade as the trade moniker. Awesome name. HASHcash. It rhymes! It needs "cash" on the end so people don't think you're trying to sell them cannabis.

Taken. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash

I like the name Hash as well. Btw hashcash isnt a cryptocurrency and Hash also has never been taken. Try adding it later to the voting list Dev!
