which ones?

I only know about storj.io (decentralized cloud storage). Is this one of them.?

Thanks

P.S. If you never heard of storj, just take a look at it. Looks promising

No, there were two Facebook clones. Storj is just a data storage container (like DropBox and the like). I'll see if I can dig them up again. I'm not sure if either has made much progress since mid-2014 since I haven't seen them talked about, though.

oh, ok. thanks

bit.social could be used to set up a decentralised social network, based on the blockchain. The chain would contain social transactions, pointers to where your personal data and media is stored(from dropbox, weblog to your personal home claoud/nas) And who you want to share it with.

There's actually two decentralized social networks I've heard of. I'm not sure their names off the top of my head. though. I think if it were going to be used for that purpose, he should try to find those other projects and just link up with them in some way.

Okay, then on that note, expo.money could be used to help showcase various coin expos. There are a LOT of meetings, expos and such for Bitcoin and cryptos in general. It could be a way of keeping up with what's going on, when it'll be, and where. Maybe even a map. Basically, the go-to place for meetups of different types.

If i tell you that i was thinking exactly the same (well, not just for cryptos, though, but for money shows in general) would you believe me?

I mean all the big exhibitions have the "expo" on their title, so i thought it would be a good idea for a future project.  Smiley

My first thought was general money expos, but you asked on a crypto-related forum so I moved towards cryptos. I really don't think of any other use if you're trying to use the domain as part of a brand.

Ok, so i got 3 new domains today because i liked the idea of getting them, but now, i have no idea what to do with them. So i want some opinions / ideas on how to use them. Any domain experts around?

Feel free to express yourself  Cheesy

1) xbt.money

2) expo.money

3) bit.social

(didn't know where to post this, so if it's in an appropriate thread, please free to move it)

Put them up for sale, you can never know if someone could use it and would like it very much. You can earn some good amount of money from that.

xbt.money can be usefull, like the news on bitcoin in global business

expo.money - don't really have an idea or an opinion

bit.social can be used for a blog showing the impact on todays society

I've wrote these while I was reading the addresses, so I don't know really.

1) xbt.money - I simply do not like that name and I find it really not that useful, maybe you could establish faucet under this domain.

2) expo.money - again a little limited domain, but word expo is not that bad...

3) bit.social - definietly the best domain that you have, it can be used for various projects even not bitcoin and cryptorelated stuff 'bit social' is a nice world play after all

So you already know domain name doesn't impact anything. In that case, what are you trying to brainstorm? I don't see what you're looking to get from it if that wasn't it. None of those domains are likely to have any value going into the future, and those main domains are unlikely to ever catch on.

Just a few comments and maybe some fresh ideas. By having an open dialogue and exchanging thoughts with people of the BTC community, of different age, aspect and perspectives. That's all.

I like bit.social as the name sounds brandable. Maybe you can come up with something similar like a facebook concept. Get a script and run it on the site. The hardest part would be on getting traffic because you will need to have a good reason for people wanting to visit and then going back there. Something like setting up a meeting place for bitcoiners around a local area and then pay in bitcoins for active participation.

localbitcoins.com has built up a good name for themselves by providing for an online marketplace where people can buy and seel bitcoins with other bitcoiners.
bit.social could perhaps be a site to organize bitcoin meetups? It could also be a site that provided info about bitcoin and social media. Perhaps how to tip on social media etc..

sounds interesting...

Dude, don't buy up domain names if you don't need them. Some guy or gal may have a business that could use a domain name that you've bought and while you're slowing down their productive activities, they're being slowed down by your greedy hobby.

You're the equivalent of pop ads...don't do it. Don't waste domain names. It's a really shitty move. You're a squatter.

 Shocked

3 letter domains are always worth a lot, any 3 letter in .com domains will fetch thousands if not millions of dollars. Its not a bad idea to snap them up now and wait a couple years until they are worth more, time will make them worth more when all the names are taken.

sounds good, too, but not really interested in selling them. I just want to make something on them.

Thanks guys

People put far too much emphasis on domain names, when they aren't as important as the brand behind it. You could rank #1 for "bitcoin bank" using the domain http://imafloppydonkey.com if you wanted. All you have to do is build the brand around it.

Your question, therefore, leads to showing you don't quite understand how search engines and ranking work, nor how to market. I'd highly suggest you learn more about these before delving in.

 Huh

You are so wrong my friend...

I know well how the search engines work. If you read my first post, i am asking for some brain storming here, just for the fun (or not) of it. I appreciate your opinion, but i am not looking / asking for marketing lessons. I will probably have some spare time (between projects) and i am thinking of doing something special using one of these 3 domains.

By the way, web design, SEO & social media strategy is my main job occupation  Wink

Lol. If you bought domain names back in 1993 you would be a millonaire now and not complaining about it.
It's called speculating.

You might want to get some hosting to serve some simple pages linking to any other sites you may have. If your plan is to sell the domains maybe leave a message on the homepage. Either way, may as well use them. Link them between eachother for starters.
