if it accepts transactions from the LN
does that mean that any coin with LN support can be used for the payment?

State channels are actually great advertisement for stores, now that I think about it. Knowing that you have a direct channel open with merchant X you're more likely to order from there.
This could help with adoption.

but you dont have a channel open with domino's store X in town X..
you have a channel open with a buffer hub that takes the DDos strain off of FOLD servers and your indirectly paying FOLD.

the FOLD indirectly pays domino's

domino's has no clue the end order is even related to bitcoin.
domino's has no clue what LN is

all domino's would see is a pizza order, customers address and a paid with dollars

(dont get me wrong, i pay many things using my bitcoin, which in some cases goes through intermediaries. but i personally dont gimmickery around over promoting the merchants that provide me with goods as 'bitcoin accepting businesses' when they dont. however the businesses that do directly receive my bitcoin. and know of it, i do highlight and promote as bitcoin accepting businesses)

domino' does not accept bitcoin or LN

a middleman service called Fold does
true title should be. users can buy pizza via...

Regardless it’s still another small step to our goal of widespread, mainstream adoption. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
We are moving slowly but surely and this kind of development is still a good chance for the market to grow more. This is a long process, and a small action like this will make big impact in some businesses. Dominos pizza is good and it can really attract more customers becuase of this adoption and system improvements.

And here is a lonk mentioning the same. Fold is an app which handles
the ordrrs for dominos > https://bitcoinist.com/lightning-pizza-lets-you-order-dominos-with-bitcoin-for-less-than-1-cent/

A new consumer app enabling anyone in the US to order pizza using
Bitcoin via the Lightning Network launched last week.

Either way its a positive move forward, it will help to get people used to
spending bitcoin.

A nice treat at the end of the week after earning bitcoin!

I really doubt they're accepting bitcoin via LN directly. The website/service used, LN.PIZZA is a mediator. Pretty much just like how you use purse.io to purchase items on Amazon using bitcoin, but Amazon doesn't accept bitcoin directly.

Don't get me wrong though, this is still good news. Having the option to do so regardless if they accept it directly is a good thing.

Somehow "LN.PIZZA" doesn't produce the same sort of hype that a publicly traded Fortune 1000 company does. Tongue

Personally, I'd rather see Dominos go out of business than see anyone paying for that crap. Awful, awful stuff. Get some real pizza!

It's good they integrated bitcoin payment but... but it can't help them boost selling of their junk, apologize if anyone likes it but to my mind it's prices are huge compared to what you get to eat + that 5% sale is nonsense, at least where I live, very often they have 50% off on highest size pizza.
As I see btc payment comes from their partner, so will this continue for long? How soon will this news spread to their international stores?

what is more then likely is the middleman(fold) has reserves and bought alot of dominos giftcards at discount. and its fold that accepts LN and then pays dominos using giftcard. meaning fold uses the "50% off highest size" and has a further 5-10% off due to giftcard deals so is only really paying 40% of the price and then charging 95% to customers.

real funny thing is. due to the delivery time and cooking delay. there is no actual need for "instant payment"

the real niche LN would see is gambling sites and arbitraging between exchanges. .. you know, services where you find people using every day and needing to move funds in seconds... not a once a week treat that takes 30-60mins delivery

but hey, overhyping and playing around with how involved companies are. and faking big names involvement seem to be the foolish game of gimmickery that gets played out. which doesnt wash with many people and actually makes smart people less inclined to get involved

if only people stuck with the real events and not overhype/twist how involved a company is, including being upfront about flaws. then more people would see the benefits and atleast know the risks/issues to be well informed.

This is a nice move concerning the acceptance of bitcoin in stores but it will be encouraging if this means of payment can also be opened to citizen in other countries.

Yes. Usually it is a third party who accepts the payments in crypto then transfers them into their countries currency to them
You always see it handled this way.

Not sure it's been mentioned before but...
https://twitter.com/ln_pizza/status/1095751406420615168

Interface is simple but still :
https://ln.pizza/
It's great, of course, that it's possible to buy famous pizza with Bitcoin, but is it really Domino's accepting crypto? I cannot see any official info about it, so it looks to me more like there is this LN company where you can spend bitcoins on Domino's pizza, but the Domino's probably receives the payment in fiat. It doesn't even say otherwise anywhere apart from the names of the articles. So is it really Domino's (even though it doesn't look like it) or are we talking about a mediator that accepts btc and via which you can get Domino's pizza?

I still highly doubt if the news is legit or not. I will only believe it if the news is directly from Dominos themselves.
The website also doesn't look genuine to me. I definitely think it is just to spread a FUD in the market.
So I would suggest you to stop spreading this FUD and do a research yourself before posting such posts. Try to post a proof next time and a link to it.

I will be checking up at the closest store to me, I figure that demand for bitcoin as a means of payment drives merchants and stores to accept it as there is already a community waiting to use it.
This is a welcome development, hopefully we have more companies accepting bitcoin. This is also a plus for lightening network.

These types of services should be expand over the globe because it can give new meaning to Bitcoin as a currency and to make it more popular among citizens. Today there are many trading platforms for bitcoin that allows to trade as a digital asset but not as a currency and due to that except for the crypto community others won't see much use of Bitcoin and that is why proper adoption is necessary to use it as a payment method like the Dominos scenario
