In a period like this when the year is coming to an end and now the crypto market is increasing drastically lot of people think so much of how they can make quick money and some may decide to invest in shitcoins just to make profit in this bull market which it can lead into the wrong investment. People needs to be very careful in their investment decisions at this time because if they are too desperate because of the bull market to invest now without proper thinking they may end up putting themselves in problems that they will end up regretting.
This is the time scammers will come up with their fake give away and to lure people to invest in shitcoins, people needs to be more vigilant not to fall prey to this things.

Nice tips of alarm blowing. The Bitcoin market is actually bullish which has also triggered to the increase of values of some Altcoins too but then, we should be more concious because periods of the market increases like this attracts lot of scammers where they would lure enthusiasts trickily just to steal their funds.

We have also approaching to a Christmas festive when thefts would be roaming about in search of anyone loos guiding their valuable safeties so they can steal it.

The aid of Bitcoin enthusiasts who must have been much excited with the increments of their profits with their holding on Bitcoin at this bull season is much a loophole getting our funds and lives to security risks because the thefts are also within our Societies on disguise thriving on how to identify potential victims to victimize.

Our manner of exposure such as discussion in the public or to some untrusted people in both online and offline can actually make anyone vulnerable to this victim so, let carefulness always be our watchword.

  • Don't because of show-off go for second-hand devices, especially when you know you will be having your coins on that devices.
By saying second hand devices, you mean! Getting a mobile phone or laptop directly from someone? Or getting foreign-used gadgets from a direct dealer? Let's take the December show off aside.

I want to know the implications of getting a used device, because aside from my Android device, the iOS I use is UK used, which I have been using for over a year now without any single issue with it in terms of security. In fact, I even seem to trust it more than my Android device since what I use it for is limited.

I know about clipboard viruses, etc., but can a device that is cleanly wiped be infected by a phishing link or whatever kind of malware that can steal users data without the owner's consent?

Investing on alt coin because of FOMO might turns out to be a terrible idea and it's good that you mentioned it ... so many altcoins already pumped to their limit maybe but most people will still FOMO, buy at their high and then it drops and they panic sell in loss even though some might not recover at all... it's just better to invest on the right coin even  though Bitcoin is very volatile it's still a recommendation for investment so far you're not trying to trade it  Smiley.
And for the security  investors can try to use cold storage as its the safest means you can ever get to store your coins. HW(Hardware wallet  is a close alternate as well.

Bitcoin is on the rise, cryptocurrency market is bullish, many are happy and excited speaking about wins but I want to remind you not to be swayed by all these wins, thereby sharing yours in public and then people having eyes on you.
Remember, our economy is on a downhill, things are hard, December is already here and this means the rate of robbery and crimes as a whole, will increase, be highly cautious.

I don't really need to speak much about others like not your key, not your coin, since we ought to be familiar with this already, but here are some others:
  • Don't because of show-off go for second-hand devices, especially when you know you will be having your coins on that devices.
  • Don't because of FOMO invest in any altcoins and also be cautious in the amount you invest now, don't go all out on cryptocurrency,  remember it's volatile.
  • Never ignore security measures for coins and stay safe.

Nice point mate, the way things dey go person got to really delay cautious. Crime rate has increased too , just because of the hardship of this our country, the painful part be say money wey person surfer work for dem go still carry from the person and something dem go even land some punches on the person face .

Just as op talk , nor let body too sweet you say you go dey post your win . Especially those of una wey dey into trading because market dey green now every stew for una side ( Those wey long while those wey short (sorry oh ) ) .  If you continue they might put eye for your body nah so dem tey go run one guy any win e go post am even if nah huge amount of money e go still post am , just days after day rubbed him

So be careful to avoid stories that touches the heart.

Though another thing to watch out for, is the number of years for security on that device, I won't recommend anyone in getting a device that doesn't offer security update anymore especially when they plan on having their coin on that device, this is including IOS devices, attackers might be able to find exploit device and such a person may become a victim of it.

Also or because of need for a device with high specification, one will go for a brand that is not common or popular and having little to no trust, there are tendency  the device will be lacking security updates or the security features of such device can be easily exploited by attackers and also the device specifications might also fail to do well even against a lower specification of some top or popular devices. https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/how-to-avoid-threats-from-budget-android-devices/49565/
