Hodling is beneficial for a time that Bitcoin becomes a major world currency. It may take a long while, or it might happen by default when fiat destroys itself.

I mean, if a loaf of bread costs 1 bitcoin today, but it costs 1 satoshi 10 years from now, 1 bitcoin sounds like a great investment to me. I'll hodl at least some.

holding bitcoin doesnt really help btc as a currency because transactions arent taking place (which is what the main point of btc is ).
but it does help keep the value of bitcoin fairly high as the supply is reduced in the market.
