I actually prefer LoL, the gameplay and the customization. HoN and Dota have no customization 
I have no idea about HoN, but Dota has tons of customization! You can mix and match various cosmetic items on all of your heroes.But its just cosmetic items, LoL would have runes to customize the hero.

DOTA 2 is more North American, in my opinion.

Yes, I know that skills level up in DotA, but there is no item stat that you can BUY to increase the damage of those spells. You just buy power to increase your attacks. Dota spells (compared to ones used in league) are more "utility" as in they provide some use but not as much dmg.

HoN is by far the least popular, but LoL and Dota are at a near tie in English speaking countries, with Dota recently gaining a small advantage.
However, in a worldwide scheme LoL dominates.
The reason I want to do Dota 2 tournaments is solely because it's my personal favorite. However, I love LoL as well.
