Anyone heard from Barntech?  I still haven't received my GB1 order and he's not responding to my PM's.  Heard he was on vacation, but it's been weeks now...

Thanks,

I am finding that 52:2:950 is as far as I can push mine before it starts giving ASIC error messages.

 DRB 0: E8 37 max37.4  | 23.06G/21.28Gh/s | A:3938 R:48 HW:76 WU:297.2

Is that 37C temp ok? It was down at 32C on standard clocks. I don't really know where on the board that temp is being measured.

as long as you have say two fans on the heat sink you should be ok, trying pointing a fan on the other side of the board, mine was running at 53:2:950 at 35C (in a room at35C) with 3% HW....but right power supply fan not working so no mining  Cry
I measured the temp on various components on the component side with an infrared thermometer.  The hottest component was the linear regulator (52.6 C) and about 40C on the Atmel micro-controller.  This is with a 12 cm fan blowing directly on the component side.  I suggest cooling both the heatsink side and the component side.  Maybe this is why I can consistently overclock this board.  In any case, failure rates of electronic components are exponentially related to temperature, therefore leaving them to cook a 'max specified temp' is a recipe for a short life span  (one probably wants to let these live while they can mine efficiently).

Cheers

Yep, you should be fine up to 40C

I'm trying 53:2:950 right now

Your board may need 950mV to get rid of most of those HW errors. You could also try int:53:2:850. I get lower a higher hash rate and lower HW errors (virtually none) on my boards with 54:2:850 than I do at default settings (40:1:850). Smiley

And definitely get another fan cooling the line regulator heatsink as well as those teeny little heatsinks, especially if you want to use 950mV.

I *am* using 950mV.  I said so twice already. :-)

I tried int:53:2:850 earlier, the error rate was higher.

I'm using a large floor fan blowing over the whole board.  Pretty sure it is cooling the whole board pretty well.   Without a temperature sensor gun, is there a way to tell if components are getting hot and causing the HW errors?
I'm getting a HW error rate of about 3% at int:53:2:950.  The board is cooled by 3 12cm fans - 1 at the heatsink side, 1 at the component side and one from the side with the airflow along the heatsink fins.  The reported temp is around 32C.  The long term avg hash rate is about 22.4 GH/sec WU 314/m.  It does take the board a while to achieve steady state in hashing, take into account the pool applying var diff.  I'm running the drillbit CGMiner 3.8.5 on win7/64.  The board f/w is at the latest 'test firmware'.

I'm trying 53:2:950 right now actually.  I have fans on the heatsink side (the big silver one with no components) only right now.  I didn't think 35c was too hot.

What concerns me is the high HW rate though.  Over 10% seems more than most people are reporting.

I'm also getting HW errors over 10% even when using a shielded alternative USB cable.   For example, my latest run (int:52:2:950) has been going on for 70 minutes and the CGMiner reports:
Code:
DRB 0:  E8 34 max 34.8  | 22.60G/19.87Gh/s | A:18954 R:24 HW:2233 WU:277.4/m

Those hashrate seems good you can also try 53:2:950, us cgwatcher to monitor. you must have fan(s) on the heatsink and also a fan on the other side also helps

I got my repaired board back on this past Sat and have finally been mining with it for the first time.   (I was away both in early Dec and Xmas, so shipping times screwed me around.  Angry)

I've been using CGMiner 3.9.0, built myself on Ubuntu 13.04, and experimenting with settings.  I've noticed that the board really seems to take awhile to hit peak processing speeds.   I mean like 15 minutes before the 5s avg reported hash rate gets over 20GH/s.   Is this normal?  Is anyone else seeing it?

Do I just have a poorly hashing board or is it possibly related to the repairs?  Milkbottlec reported having to resolder things a second time to get an acceptable hash rate, so perhaps things still aren't quite 100% there?

Well its 6 januari and i am still waiting for news when my 8 x drillbit boards will be repaired.

Difficulty went up again and i have not mined a single bit yet.

bronan, where are you located/who did you send your boards to for repair?

never mind, I see milkbottlec is doing your repairs & stated he would be gone on holiday for a short time. Hopefully you get them soon, holidays being in the middle of the week have really screwed shipping up for me, I know it probably has done the same for others as well.

I think Barntech went on vacation for the holidays.  I'm hoping to hear back from him soon.

I haven't seen any posts from Barntech here since before Xmas, anyone know what's happening with more product? A few weeks ago it was suggested that a ASICminer gen 2 based boards may be being produced but I can't find any details either here or on the Drillbit forums.

Anyone know what's happening?

I think Barntech mentioned getting those Avalon chips out with boards sometime in January.
I think there will be an announcement as the difficulty keeps going up, so of course the sooner the better.

I feel lucky that my 8board has not had so far issue in starting at 950.  Since the last f/w update and using the drillbit cgminer 3.8.5 it has been working continuously without any 'glitches'.  It has not crashed and no longer has 'hiccups' when the USB KVM is switched.  Most of the time it is set to INT:53:2:950.  The board is surrounded by 3 12cm fans, all blowing air into it.  Running on Win7/64. The latest snapshot after about 20 hours (PC was restarted due to updates).

Got them running now, been on for 16 hours and counting. Also had a play with the layout and window size. Got it setup with dark grey text and border lines for minimal distraction, as I've got a little 16" monitor next to my main rig, for keeping an eye on it when I'm on my PC. Smiley

mmm a screen saver  that displays the hashrate and bits moving around on screen sounds good
