Okay since i am starting mining datacoins and i read everything on this forum i have to say that this coin is actually a very nice idea.

Now what i have to note is that the main developer doesnt look like the most talkative guy. Although if he really wants his coin to succeed its probably a nice move since in the future police or politicians may target him. And that makes him want to be anonymous which i suppose makes it difficult to post everyday... Thats my assumption.

The other things is that this coin has a very negative image toward the others. And what i mean is that the main page with 33 pages starts with code and not with that information sheet. This is too negative because people who want to  invest or even use it but dont know many things about how coins work etc will just ignore.

Also this information sheet  hasnt been updated for like 3 weeks? Why? Especially after the big boom of altcoin prices and influx of people?

My proposal is:

1) Lock the other thread and make this one the main one. Of course put somewhere the link of the other thread on the start of this one
2) Put asap! a picture of the coin and maybe one or two graphs here like coin by years etc
3) Delete from this thread the pool link since it seems to be a scam. Maybe people try this and they stop caring about the coin with that pool
4) Really make a pool! Its almost a month out without a pool. I tried to solo but nah...And i know you try to make one but make it faster Tongue
5) Put here some links of other datacoin threads like the one about which books to upload for first data or the bounties thread
6) Update the forum link
7) Make the irc clickable
8 ) Although i know the price is big and the fee also big we need a new giveaway thread. Maybe one where people have to put a signature or an image on their profile. But make this after we have an updated information sheet.
9) Put krypte.net on this information sheet maybe with a superfast picture of how to upload and download something small on the blockchain.
10)On this sheet we also need twitter link, facebook page.
11) Translations? I think there is a chinese (or not) but i dont know of anything else? For sure we need a German, a Spanish, an Indian and an Arabic one.
12) Thats for now Tongue Ah the link for asking cryptsy

I am thinking of translating today or tomorrow on Greek and German. I am also thinking of making the facebook page right now on Greek and German.

What is Datacoin?
Datacoin is intended to be reliable censorship-free data storage and a currency to pay for this storage. Money transfer isn't the first purpose of Datacoin.

Data is stored in the blockchain "forever" (as long as blockchain exists) and can be retrieved with tx hash as an identifier. I consider this as a platform to be used by applications (and not directly by users): torrent trackers, encrypted messaging services etc.. I don't consider blockchain as a place to store heavy data like video files: this should be too expensive. Instead I propose to store in Datacoin torrent files, certificates, possibly some HTML pages and other kinds of metainformation.

Specs
2.000.000.000 coins will be emitted.

Block reward gradually goes down as difficulty rises (no halving) as in Primecoin. But finally it is a bit different from Primecoin: tx fee is high (0.05 DTC per 1Kb) => fully loaded block (1024Kb) gives ~50DTC in plus to block reward. This is expected in future.

Block target is 1 minute.

Max block size is 1Mb.
Max tx size is 128Kb.
