It is interesting how history keeps repeating itself, when Messi was at is peak and he was considered to be the best player around the world he had to deal with the fact that if he was not at the top of his game, it was almost impossible for his national team to win against the other great teams.
It's totally unfair for Messi when people complained about his contribution for Argentina, requested him to win World Cup for Argentina. He contributed a lot for Argentina but people did not recognize it and put unnecessary big pressure on him. After Messi won Copa America with Argentina, pressure on him was still very big.
Now, all pressure on Messi from Argentina disappeared and people should enjoy every match of Messi from now. He might retire anytime he want but his football deserves to be fairly enjoyed and recognized. People should not attack Messi now and when he announces his retirement, they come back to request him to continue playing.
And now Mbappe went through exactly the same thing, he had to do everything to stage such an impressive comeback, and yet it was not enough, as even if Messi is no longer the best player around the world now he had a better supporting cast, and this allowed him to finally get the win he has been looking for so long.
Mbappe is talented but is lucky too. He has chance to play in France when they have a very golden squad. Since Euro 2016, France have one of best squads in their history and they have a good coach too. Didier Deschamps brought more stability for France than Domenech in the past. He got good respect from players and that is helpful for France in general.
