SIM porting is definitely a thing, even though more common in some countries than others
it's always better to opt for google authenticator or a hardware device for 2FA authentication, like yubikey or even trezor.
Not many people know about that risk. I did not know about that in the past too but the topics I shared are helpful for me to learn about this.

Searching to get websites, social media accounts with search engines is risky as well as searching for applications in app stores especially in Google Play. Google search and Google Play are bad to restrict phishing sites and fake applications in their search results.

The one you shared is a good warning and example by using search engine.

Anyway since the Halloween promotion has been ended few days ago, I wonder is there any users in this forum win at least one of the contest before?

Previously there was roycilik share his winning, he received $150 and I think it was a reward of one of the Halloween contest. I believe he participated in most of the Halloween contest, lets wait for him to share how many contest he participated in and how many rewards he received.

There's a new promotion by Duelbits about $70,000 November Cashdays and it will spread to top 350 of the most wagered in some games listed on this page [1] I think it's an interesting promotion and we at least need to be top 350 to eligible for the prize which is we have a high chance.

Basically players had higher chance in the Halloween promotion because there were more paid places and some promos were not about wagering. The new contest is about wagering so anyone should have decent starting balance to compete with other players. There are many whales in duelbits, so dont hope too much if you are just a small player.

For the money, greedy and mal-intentioned people will do everything just to take advantage of the unsuspecting victims.  So no matter how tedious it is as long as these scammers and hackers saw the potential for huge monetary gain, they will do it.
Greed is the factor in most of the scam cases where they find most of the victims and people think they can get easy free money without even understanding there is always a hidden cost associated with these which can cause them potential damge of funds but still fall for them.So always stay away from them.

For 2FA on casino or exchange, don't choose SMS code because you might not get the code if the company has problems to send messages to local citizens. With SMS code, there is sim port attack risk too.

Still, when it comes to security it is better to have more options to secure your account like 2fa, email Otp, and SMS Otp.  Almost everything now adays can be attacked and hacked if we are not careful with the links we clicked.

Using unique and strong password is one of best prevention for your account from hacks, compromise and money steal.

It is good until your system is compromised with key loggers and password sniffers.  So better be knowledgeable of recent hacks and malware and avoid clicking links sent by unknown people.

clicking on these links is something dangerous
Yes, but I know what I'm doing.

Hi Duelbits, I just want to bring up something to you when I've tried to search for your Twitter account through Google. This ad has appeared and it seems a different domain extension.
~

This ad clearly has nothing to do with the official Duelbits or Stake site. As far as I know, Google allows to advertise gambling sites, but there are a lot of restrictions on countries, and it is only allowed to those advertisers who have passed the appropriate certification. You can see from your screenshots that the advertiser uses a pre-landing page, and I'm more than sure that this is done to bypass the restrictions of Google Ads. So it looks more like a phishing site, or someone is just trying to promote its referral link this way. In any case, I would advise you to be extremely careful before clicking on suspicious links because your curiosity might be the reason that your crypto and data can one day be stolen due to phishing.
Don't worry, I'm careful and that's why I'm just reaching it out to duelbits that there's someone that uses their name wrongly. I've made other threads about these phishing links to make everyone aware of it.

This should not be a big deal. Obviously these guys are doing Google CPA for the keyword "VISIT DUELBIT" or only "DUELBIT".
It seems they are a review website and spending their money to get affiliate signup and receive commission.

Edit: After looking closely to everything on the site, I am sure they are only promoting Stake.
But the thing is, they're using Duelbits name wrongly and they're promoting other websites and those domains are also different. It could be harmful for someone who knows Duelbits but searches it on through google and may land into this false advertised website.

It seems like a referral/affiliate page because upon checking below there are also some other casinos too. So again, keeping up with my curiosity, I clicked "VISIT DUELBIT" and the spelling is lacking of "s" for the correct one.
Google always shows the sponsored site at the top of the search result. Seems like duelbits.cc is an referrals making website. Perhaps, the website owner has done some mistakes on the backlink of 'VISIT DUELBIT' and 'VISIT DUELBITS' word. As a result it is forwarding everyone to the mirror site of Stake. Duelbits team has nothing to do to stop them.
Yeah, they're always like that and have never filtered these websites that seems suspicious and harmful. They might have do nothing to stop them but they can make everyone aware of them.

Thats really psych man! People are crazy to scam others by investing lot of money and efforts on the scams.

I can't imagine the efforts those guys might have taken for:
1. Purchasing the domain
2. Hosting plans for the redirected website
3. Creating Google Adsense
4. Paying huge sum of money for running those HIGH CPC Google Ads!

I am literally thinking one thing right now; why deceive someone with so much hard work if they can actually create something of their own like a blog, youtube channel, or something else and go through above STEPS 1- 5 and earn themselves respects?

Thanks for sharing the info, hope Duelbits will take action soon.
Yeah, that's it. I've shared it because no one would have that type of effort and will use others casinos name if he's too good and don't have any intention at all. If it's just something all about affiliate marketing, he should do better and would just redirect to the correct websites + his referral link but that's not what it shows.

This is what I'm thinking too for not my making secondary security on my casino account. No one will hack or have an interest on your account if you are not sharing any info about it that will make them interested on it. 99% of those hacked account are most of the time user sharing there balance, win and other proof that they have huge money worthy of being scam.

I'm using not a very steong password but I never experienced being hacked because I don't click random link and never share any info about my account. Be discreet is the number protection to all our account.

They aren't promoting Stake only. The second casino link redirecting to the correct site.
There were three casinos advertised on that homepage and for me all of them had stake as their landing page :-P

There's no need to be upset
a good reminder is to always use 2FA on your main email account and unique passwords (a password manager is a good idea too)
better safe than sorry when it comes to online security and hygiene.

interesting point about the login with google being possible even if you first registered with email + pw
I didn't know that
My duelbits account is also the one connected with the google account and I know the risk obviously. Luckily I did not use the email as my main email, I used to have different email for different online accounts. This can be also a suggestion for others which we should minimize the usage of 1 email for several accounts to avoid lose all accounts once our email is compromised/hacked. Anyway, maybe it will be good if there is an option for duelbits players who use their gmail as their login, an option to convert gmail login into normal account.
I understand that some people prefer comfort over safety and that’s fine, if you trust yourself and you wouldn't make a mistake than it's fine and you can keep on using that, but that’s only if you really trust that everything will go well.

I personally do not trust myself that much and because of that I have decided not to go with google account instead, I am someone who keeps having different accounts anyway, and changed it so many times, maybe not recently but did it in the past, so I do not feel comfortable my account to be tied to it. This is a personal preference thing and I do not feel like there is any right or wrong here, it all depends on the person who uses whatever they want.

Well, I wish we could see a good pool in Duelbits, and that it could be a good prize, of course it's just an idea, but bets can be made in many ways, by groups, by goals, by scoring champion, goalkeeper champion, many ways the world cup can also be used for this casino one thing we are used to is that Duelbits always has good ideas to keep us hooked here of course it is just an idea. I guess the Duelbits team will already have something well prepared for us. , maybe in secret they will leave us everything they can give us, I am very curious, and this is one of my favorite casinos, Duelbits has great growth and we may see better things every time.

maybe organize a sports betting tournament at the time of the world cup, it would be something like: whoever managed to hit the most number of games including guessing who would be the world cup champion would win the prize, second place would be the person who managed to hit the the highest number of winning teams and the third place would be the person with the third highest number of winning teams, of course the casino would have to place a minimum value to bet on each game and that it would not be worth multiple bets, with that it would be something much more fun in this world cup, I don't know if this has already been thought of by the casino, but if it hasn't, then I hope they consider this idea

Most people use google authentication for 2FA purpose but sometimes problem is they installed it on the Mobile devices and have account login on the same device but if it's misplaced it won't be of much security privilege because they will have the code also so always make sure to follow the norms but they are good way to protect your account.

Maybe for that KYC is important to retrieve your account if your device where you stored your KYC lose that's why somehow this one is important security measure to avoid losing your account as well the balance putted in it. But also what most important there is to make sure that you will not lose your device and safekeep it on your home only and don't bring it outside to avoid any unfortunate things to happen since this is important to you.

Agreed on this. KYC will bind the ownership of the account to ID connected on it. KYC is a very good safety precaution on claiming account assuming the casino will properly stored it on safe place. The only reason why many people hate KYC is due to the fact that many casino has data leakage. But most the user probably dodging KYC are those hiding something such as laundering and other illegal things.

If only a casino can guarantee all user that they will protect user data privacy. I believe this will not a big issue even in crypto casino.

I also did KYC at the casino where I play, in this case stake.com, I believe that the advantage of KYC is to avoid that the casino one day accuses you of having too many accounts, I also don't use VPN, I don't like it and I think this is against TOS of the casinos so we have to respect the TOS of the casinos. the biggest problem about this KYC issue besides that you already mentioned is in the fact that when a casino is new it's hard to trust this new casino and do KYC in that casino, I think it has to be fairer, the casino owner doesn't must be anonymous and with that people felt more secure in KYC at the casino

After clicking this showed for a few seconds:

And after it loads, it redirected me to a stake page but it's not a .com but a .games - stake.games

I'm not sure if this is a legit mirror site for stake but the whole thing about it is that using your domain name with a different extension.

That's why it's better to just activate 2FA through Authy or Google Auth or if there are other trustworthy authenticators. But those two are the most common and known.
Authy and Google Authenticator are most 2FA applications used by people because many platforms include those applications in their Security page. People can use them but if they want to have a better application, I recommend Aegis.

Aegis Authenticator, a decent alternative to Google Authenticator and Authy.

It is an open-source 2FA application and if you love open-source, it is the 2FA app for you.
Yeah, I remember Aegis that it's also a known authenticator app for those that are looking for another option aside from Authy and Google Auth.

I have no issues having my 2FA authenticator saved and installed on my mobile device. It's where I started and I still kept my authenticator alive and being used until now. But if you don't prefer it better to install it on your PC then. Well anyway, these security matters are helpful for those Duelbits players that haven't activated it yet or don't know how to.
