I find this sport interesting, but it is hard to watch it. It is hard to understand rules. Once I've found on some Russian media, that American football is in Guinness record book as a sport with most complicated rules. We are most used to two teams compete against each other, but in AF there is defence and attack teams, they switch during games, hard to count score, awful, for me.
However, it is getting more and more popular, people saw it, and with the introduction of social media it became a bigger deal which helped teams to be formed. There are now clubs and even European competitions for it, the local ones are not that much big of a deal but there are some 10k+ viewership for each game in my nation.
If it is like you say, then it is great. Before VHS movies (for example last boy scout) flooder territory of post soviet land, I bet only few know that American Football exist. Most common sport on postsoviet land was soccer, as you need only a ball and that is it. Kids dont even know that egg shaped balls exist. I even thought all the time, that besides United States, no one plays American Football. People prefer rugby more.
I would love to know more about American Football rules, because there are lot of nice odds. But without a tutor, it is hard to study it just by watching youtube or reading.
