Just got my masternode set up so please scratch me off the list.

I'm still wanting to get at least a 50% stake on the community masternode service though. That thread has been really silent lately so i hope all is well.

With regards to this setup and possible Teamviewer use to help you get started, the following is from a PM to someone with Batch 1 Full Node reservations:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/29ci8b/if_im_helping_someone_else_setup_a_masternode/

"That pretty much is the idiot's guide to setting up cold wallets. I may have glossed over some simple things a computer user should likely know, but that's it in a nutshell.

The problems I'm having are completely related to it being an RC2 Hot Wallet setup that didn't install correctly. Going forward: this problem does not affect RC3 Cold Wallet setups, which is now the norm.

One possible way of going forward: Teamviewer access to your PC just for helping to set up the wallet. When it comes time to enter your encryption PW, just disconnect me, as all you need is one more simple command after that to activate your cold wallet and node payouts. If you were to allow me to help you get to this point, the RC3 Cold Wallet method keeps the funds on your PC, so you see that the stake deposits show up as a self-payment of 0 DRK because no funds were moved (just reserved). You'd be watching me configure only your PC's node settings the whole time.

This is the only way I can help someone that's not willing to take the steps from the procedure I wrote up (which I need to pay out 3 DRK as bounties just to have gotten to this point). As long as you can follow the parts that are steps for setting up a single cold wallet using a Windows PC, it's relatively easy for the client/owner of the cold wallet to start up the node payouts:

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/drk-guide-rc3-masternode-windows-local-linux-remote-vultr.1367/

If you can get one working...then it's a simple step from there to understand how to do 2 or more nodes thanks to the community banding together to share info.

I apologize that I haven't been able to contact full node owners yet. We ran into complications with our first node's stake being stuck in limbo with an RC2 hot wallet setup, our first node. This problem isn't an issue with RC3 cold wallet setups, but its consumed a lot of my node operations/setup time in the last few days trying to figure out what went wrong.

Fortunately, if you only have a node or two, this cold wallet process I worked out should work well for you. My procedure would makes sure you backup copies of your wallet.dat *and* the associated darkcoin.conf file for it, so you can pull up a node as needed and control some key operations if you had to restore the files you back up both locally and on USB media (and/or alt.).

GOOD NEWS FOR FULL NODE OWNERS! The largest bloc of Batch 1 Full Node reservations have been moved back to late July so that it can be worked on in-person, together.

That means if you're in Batch 1 Full Node reservations I should be able to get to your full node in a timeframe of "days" instead of "weeks." I need to work on the Partial Node spreadsheets first, but I should be able to start getting to the first Batch 1 Full Node reservations tomorrow. Smiley

For your patience, you basically let the Partial Node owners be the guinea pigs who worked out all the bugs before you risked your DRK in a newfangled cold wallet storage procedure. As for things that slowed me down: the multiple wallets for multiple node issue was a big stumbling block that wasn't proceduralized very well there, that required offering bounties tothe community to try to get answers.

If you're wondering: the cold wallet storage method works great! Unlike RC2, in RC3, it doesn't risk your 1000DRK sent to some external address and you control the encryption password and hold access to the wallet.dat file itself. "Payments" to the zeroth address to register as a masternode operated by a cold wallet stay internal; they show up as a self-payment and the local DRK total you started with remains the same.

will i get into batch 1 now that roede94105 is out? i was the first person on batch 2. i think i saw that's how it worked on the other thread.  pretty please Grin

any eta on batch 1?

Sorry, Batch 1 is pretty large so it doesn't really make a difference. Batch 2 of full nodes are right behind those, however.

I'll be doing a Batch 2 of full nodes before we do Batch 4 of partial nodes.

==

For those getting ready to have me prep and launch a Masternode for you, here is the procedure I worked out which assumes you save a local wallet.dat for each associated wallet on your hard drive, and then backup a copy elsewhere such as to a USB drive.

Just be careful when you save and don't overwrite a wallet.dat file meant for another node, or you're going to be very unhappy. It's probably best to name your local folder something like c:\darkcoin1 with wallet.dat within this folder, c:\darkcoin2\ with associated wallet.dat in it, so you can keep track of multiple cold wallets if you have multiple nodes, and you don't easily overwrite a wallet.dat file you shouldn't have. Then back up this wallet.dat using the same type of folder structure to a USB drive or other backup media, to give you redundancy in case your wallet.dat file becomes corrupted.

(Source for procedure below) http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/294j3e/hi_how_can_i_have_multiple_wallets_for/
http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/29ci8b/if_im_helping_someone_else_setup_a_masternode/

Spending 3 DRK in tips to get to a point where I can write a procedure. This process keeps the 1000DRK under control but presumes that you do some work yourself and that you won't accidentally write over the wallet.dat file(s) you'll need.

If this sounds too complicated, I suppose you could send me 1000DRK chunks (or more) to do everything for you, to shield the non-techies from doing work that could overwrite the wrong file.

If you're sending me 1000DRK or more to prep cold wallet(s) and full node(s) for you, I suppose I should be willing to trust you with my IRL ID, and if you'd like I can send you a LinkedIn PM if you'd like to verify that I really am a Network Engineer at a Research Lab with tech skill endorsements from colleagues and dozens of LinkedIn contacts in the R&D, IT, Civil Engineering, and Aerospace industries.

The Post Mortem is they're estimating a 2-3 week delay in Node Payments:

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/6-20-rc3-post-mortem.1463/

Evan also has programming reinforcements so that should help as well.

Taking a break this evening as our date for node payments has been pushed back. I'll catch up on PMs tomorrow if you sent me a PM. Thanks.

Hey! Payments are now open! Any ETA for the setups?  Grin

EDIT: I am sorry, but I already setup my MN, you can withdraw me from the list.

Thanks and good luck!

No need to be sorry. Congrats and thanks for letting me know.

Thank you for your patience.

Batch 1 is underway for full nodes but it is a large batch, so I still don't have an ETA.

Batch 1 for partial nodes (community owned) is complete but I have a bit more troubleshooting to do with partial node #1 which was unfortunately set up with the RC 2 hot wallet method, which is currently giving me issues.

The steps for handling multiple cold wallets on one PC are still being worked out, and it's more of a workaround then a proper solution. Here's a couple of threads discussing this.

http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/294j3e/hi_how_can_i_have_multiple_wallets_for/

In preparation for full node owners, I expanded on this to discuss how someone with several nodes could provide me the info we need to get your full node started:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/29ci8b/if_im_helping_someone_else_setup_a_masternode/

My method presumes that you'll save and backup a local configuration file first on your hard drive, and *then* on a USB drive so you're protected against one of the wallet.dat files going corrupt, and losing access to both your 1000DRK and your ability to generate DRK from that masternode.

Looks like we're seeing forking in the network and payments are still disabled:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7421501

I thought the network wasn't behaving correctly due to behavior I was seeing and I was correct, unfortunately. I'm unsure it was related but I was literally 99.9% finished with our first 4 community nodes last night (entered the very last command) when the setup process completely stalled on this critical last step for nodes 2-4.

We're all in wait and see mode, at the moment. I did pre-fund 40 servers last night for a month in preparation of those that had 1-2 full nodes to set up.

wait and see then! I'm patient :p

Hey DZ, R2A from reddit,

Am I on that list for batch 1? (I REALLY hope so Smiley )

Also, I don't know if it's related to the infos you need but chaeplin just posted this :

" guide added. Making a wallet for Masternode setup using dumpprivkey and importprivkey.
https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/making-a-wallet-for-masternode-setup-using-dumpprivkey-and-importprivkey.1426/"

Good night sir (time to sleep in France) !

Yes, you are. Smiley

You're in Batch 1 but Batch 1 is large. If you can prep your wallet file as per the instructions that'll help when I get to your place in the Q.

Thanks for the info and good night!

Great! Alright I'll prep my file! Smiley

EDIT: Encrypted wallet.dat file with 1000 Darkcoins ready!

I'll wait for my time on the list now  Smiley

EDIT 2 : this might help https://darkcointalk.org/threads/drk-guide-rc3-masternode-windows-local-linux-remote-vultr.1367/

Will do DRKsi, thanks for the heads up.

Getting contacted over multiple channels but this the primary sub forum to centralize discussion about full and partial MNs I've been contacted to set up for others.
