For bitcoin to be profitable in a ecommerce world it needs to be at a constant exchange rate.

Say amazon sell a laptop for 250.

Your send them 0.2828 BTC. Now 1 hour later BTC price drops $100, now amazon is losing money because they will only get 150 for that 0.2828 BTC. The same can go the other way, price rises and they make a bigger profit.

I agree, we could do this if we have enough people.

It would really help the bitcoin community grow.

If the big companies do not accept it right away, we  old try to contact companies that are big on national level (in a relatively small country) but not so big on international or intercontinental level. Such as a big supermarket chain in Germany or Japan or some other country.

If we have at least 1 native German speaker for example, he can write a letter in German about bitcoin, and we can just all send that letter to the company, it doesn't really matter if we don't speak German as long as we can trust the native speaker makes a good pitch in his home language.

Oooo yes that's good

Companies that are looking to break into the international market possibly

Here are some B2B companies that do international trade and might be ready for it after hearing China's news but seeing the coin stay strong

Go here and put "Payment Issue" then "Other Payment Issue"
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html?ie=UTF8&skip=true

If enough people say "WHY CAN'T I SPEND MY COINS!" Amazon will start to think... "Well... Why can't they?"

Great idea.

I think companies will only accept Bitcoin if their payment gateways give them the tools (or the software and sometimes hardware) to do so.

So you would be quicker to target the companies that make the tools. Check out Shopify: http://www.shopify.co.uk/blog/10446157-shopify-merchants-can-now-accept-bitcoin#axzz2myrHqukh
There are 10's of thousands of retailers on Shopify. They can now accept Bitcoin. Targeting one company rather than a thousand can be much more effective.

Maybe we could find a list of Payment Gateways and eCommerce software companies?

Just keep sharing links everyone share links and everyone use the links that are shared

I know it doesn't seem like it but a single email can make a big difference if an idea is presented with eloquence

I propose we band together to form a loose knit organization based here in this thread and what we will do is send emails to different companies to ask them to start accepting bitcoin. If we can get to be 100-1000 strong then we can really start changing things.

Just like when moms come together about things and write letters but we aren't asking anyone to drop a product, we are asking them to start earning more money. And if people on Bitcointalk won't do this... Who will?
