I have contacted a customer service agent at blizzard's World of Warcraft's billing department trying to convince them to start accepting bitcoins as an alternate method of payment for people who have no credit card and are not entirely interested in going out to buy time cards. The agent I talked to didn't seem to know about bitcoins, so I'm not sure if blizzard may have already been considering or not. He told me that he would bring it up when he talks to his boss, who will have to talk to his boss, etc etc. I think I am going to try to contact someone a little bit higher up so that I can get more info on whether or not they've heard about/considered this payment option.

Just imagine if blizzard actually goes through with this.. I wouldn't be surprised if bitcoins userbase doubles or triples.

I just wrote to the german amazon, if they already accept Bitcoins and what they answered was nice in my opinion.

They said something in the sense of: We are not accepting Bitcoins now, but we are keeping an eye on new currencys. And the person that answered me sent a copy of my request to the right department of amazon.

I guess if people ask often enough, they will really consider it. But please be carefull to not appear as spammers Wink

Also i wrote to some other companys where i was thinking about purchasing goods. Thats something we all can do.
If you want to buy something, then ask first if they already accept Bitcoins.
When enough people have asked, the shops will consider it, since it might give them more customers.

Keep on the good work Wink

I just go my yubikey from mtgox. It's awesome.

I wanted to use it with online password store lastpass.com, but they want USD 12 / year to become premium member.

I suggested they should accept bitcoin payments. Would be a nice fit, since they're already heavily into crypto and they could really grab up some security-aware bitcoiners with yubikeys.

Not expecting any bounty.

Success!  I have successfully convinced www.abugames.com to accept Bitcoin.  The logo is posted directly below their other payment option logos for credit card and paypal.  Prices on the site are still listed in USD, but bitcoin is now a payment option during the checkout process.  When selected, a new order total is computed in BTC.  At the end of the ordering process, the customer is presented with a unique payment address that corresponds with each order ID.

My bitcoin address for the reward is: 1AgZgDq77Ahux1K7LdoYUJdYXT8fQanwn4

Thank you to all those who have sponsored this challenge.  Is this reward offer available more than once per applicant?  (I might know of a few more stores who would go for it.)

I will also post in another thread some tips that might help others who are working to convince more shops.
And now we wait until Abugames becomes a Bitcoin exchange... Smiley

Is there no early adopter willing to spend some bitcoins for cheap bitcoin lobbyists?

100btc for 100 shops to accept bitcoin is a good ratio i think.

That's pretty impressive, ABU Games are a big company in terms of MtG players!

I'm staying with what I already posted... we need billing companies that do the credit card/ wire payments for paysites (like porn etc) to accept btc. It would multiply the number of people using btc since noone wants that shit on their credit card bill.

hmm, so i havent had a reply yet from all the companies, is this common?

edit: i've received an e-mail from shopto saying that they might consider it. the e-mail got stuck in my junk box so i didnt see it right away
also, ive sent an inquiry to the game lord of ultima, part of EA, don't think a huge company like that would accept them on a large scale right away, but who knows what happens if a smaller part of them accepts them...

I would like to participate in this reward offer.  I will convince ABUgames (www.abugames.com) to start accepting Bitcoin as one of their accepted payment methods.  Their site has a Google PR of 4.  They sell Magic the Gathering trading cards, board games, and other gaming accessories.  MtG cards were one of the first products sold online in the early days of the web, so it seems fitting that it would be among the first products sold for bitcoin.

Please add my name to the spreadsheet.  My bitcoin address is: 1AgZgDq77Ahux1K7LdoYUJdYXT8fQanwn4

Whether I succeed or fail, I will announce it either way.

Does it count if a website accepts BTC as a donation even if they do not sell anything?  For example, if I convince my son's Boy Scout Troop to accept BTC if someone want to donate to them.
