These days are not easy to earn merit since only selected merit source can have a good amount of merit that can distribute to all people here on the forum. If you are newbie focus on helping and contributing to the forum if you always help and share helpful posts here on the forum you will receive some merits from merit sources.
I'm not getting much merit but I earn them by just giving a helpful post and I get most of them in the local section if you are living in a different country much better to stay there and share something that can help other users in your local section. In that way, you can earn some merit to other users as their "thank you".

Be a goof person and try to help others as far when its possible and you can.
Try to contribute good and helpful posts to the forum and follow the rules and at some stage i guess there will be coming Merits to you .
But dont expect Merits for a post , sometimes you get them and sometimes not even you have written a good post .
Dont be sad if you dont get Merit for a post you think its worth one .
And you can look at some links that posted earlier and hope you will find your way.

I'm surprised OP has sent a Merit to a member here, but is clueless on how he got them.

You should know by now on how to earn merits. You've about 5 merits already and you're asking on how to earn merits. Anyway you should keep applying those methods of yours of earning merits, than posting unreasonable stuffs like this

I don't know why people don't use the search function. Why people forgot that there is a search function available in this forum. If people make sure appropriate usage of search function then repeated post will not increase.

Don't think about it, just post like you normally would post. You can never guess which posts will earn merit and which won't. I think if you try too hard other users can see that it's a forced insincere post so your chances to get merit become lower.

Whatever you did to earn five merits, replicate or improve it. Thinking less of merits would be beneficial also.

Asking this kind of useless question is really not going to help you in fact some of the users will put you in ignore list. If you really into contributing in the forum and can produce good contents then merit will follow.Build up a good character for yourself here and focus on giving more than taking.
