Hey guys theres a news article stating that ebay might be accepting Bitcoin and other cryptos, if this happens then I believe itll be a game changer for the crypto world. Not sure how credible the article is , has anyone else heard anything similar. Also there was mention of an announcement on march 10 to confirm this. If positive,  We could see a new high even in these times uncertainty .

Well, it is certain that EBay as well as other online stores wil definitely start accepting bitcoin and cryptocurrency payments along the line, but when all this will come to fruition is what we don't know yet, there was a day sometime Last week I saw an image online where companies already accepting bitcoin payment and those that will soon start accepting bitcoin were listed and eBay was actually among the companies that will start accepting bitcoin payment soon.
So, yeah, I believe you, it's just a matter of time, bitcoin has already proven it can't be stopped, so in no time, online stores will have no choice but to include it in  their means of payment if they really want to continue making sales.

Despite the fact that's it's a rumor, it would extremely complicated to integrate Bitcoin payments on such platform. How would payments be processed, from buyer to seller? How would eBay handle the fees and the payments as well? On top of that, will sellers have to integrate Bitcoin compatibility in accepting payments, or would eBay have an algorithm to deliver the money to the final recipient, in fiat? If so, that would result in a large amount of money lost in fees.

It was a old news and Ebay accepted the bitcoin as their. But due to lack of knowledge spread among the users. The bitcoin was less used in the Ebay. While the traders want to use the bitcoin. They need to pay of two different tax. One for the withrew and other for the import of bitcoin to the ebay wallet.Instead of paying two fee in the ebay. We pay them on fiat and safe some money. At the final, we can use that remaining money to inverse on crypto.
Wasn't aware that eBay actually tried to integrate Bitcoin in 2014, and 2021 respectively, along with NFT trading. I'm into cryptocurrencies, and it's the first time I've been hearing about this, after being active on the scene since 2012-13. Certainly, it wasn't that widespread, but I'm now reading that it may try to integrate several cryptocurrency means of payment.

Personally, it does sound complicated, not sure if I'd use it, but I do hope it gets through, it will severely assist Bitcoin and digital assets in general.

Man, this news is rumoring through the internet from last year. But unfortunately, till now, I have not seen any noticeable changes on the payment gateway of eBay.
Actually, they may still be doing research about adopting Bitcoin.

In fact, when a rumor is spread, it is true at least a little bit.

You may remember, PayPal decided to accept Bitcoin with long rumors and uncertainty. I always welcome these giant companies to accept Bitcoin. Maybe they don't have enough developers to research Bitcoin yet, maybe they will adopt Bitcoin very soon and we will be able to buy the necessary things using Bitcoin on platforms like eBay, Amazon.

ebay will not accept bitcoin as a payment method, they already have Fiat and even with fiat they have problems at the time of dispute to return the money, with bitcoin this problem will increase a lot and I very much doubt that ebay wanted to have headaches in this time. That's why I don't believe they will add bitcoin anytime soon. if they were to add bitcoin so soon? they would have already done it when paypal also accepts bitcoin, but see that paypal accepted bitcoin but ebay distanced itself from bitcoin

As long there is no legit source link, it’s impossible for us to believe about it unless if it’s really coming from them and not just a third party or being relayed to a “middleman” source.

When you say “might”, it means “possible” but not sure. We do hope that they do, but there are no promises or guarantees.
As for some spokesman from eBay said:

“The growth of alternative currencies like bitcoin have the potential to be disruptive technologies but they are all still in the early stages of development. We’re closely following this area and look forward to seeing how it develops.”

They are still on observation mode just like anything else. This is mainly talking about regulation issues and others.

That's true, I don't think they will accept crypto soonly because what I have read that they start to learn and observe crypto. They never said to accept but just collect more information about crypto. This is really different when OP they might accept Bitcoin and the possibility of what He wrote is low. I can equalize this news like what Amazon did before, they open job vacancy for the position which has many requirements and one of them is "Understand about crypto, but until now They haven't accept crypto yet.

It seems the speculated announcement that we were all waiting on yesterday never happened (unless I'm just out of the loop and the news wasn't rubbed in my face).  While this may show that people jumped a gun a bit on these rumors, I don't think they're completely out of the realm of possibility.  Likely eBay probably saw some feedback about how they'd implement it and learned some things that may have put a delay on their efforts to integrate Bitcoin into their payment network.  I'm sure they don't want to put advertising and coding dollars to waste by implementing something that won't be appreciated by the Bitcoin community, so hopefully the delay in any official announcement, if you want to call it a delay, is to address concerns the community has risen about how they will implement it.  At least that's what we can hope.

It would be really nice to use Bitcoin as an online payment. But people's ignorance about Bitcoin has made this process very complicated.
Most online platforms do not accept Bitcoin only because of the volatility of Bitcoin, sometimes Bitcoin is not accepted as an online payment due to brokerage problems.

I think Giant e-commerce sites may feel interested to accept crypto payments if bitcoin adoption increases further.

Don't give too much hope on it. The PayPal adoption is actually a surprising one although many have discussed that many years ago because they really are a direct competition with bitcoin.
Whilst for ebay, they have no direct competition on bitcoin and it's just going to be another payment method accepted by them if ever they're going to start adopting it.

Correct, PayPal and Bitcoin both are P2P payment system and both PayPal see bitcoin a real challenger. E-Bay game is different, as of today ebay has very strict policy on virtual currency

ebay
What a policy since last year, maybe this is all due to the scams that have revolved on their platform selling bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I think this step and policy is understandable and they're just protecting their users from any possible that might abuse their platform and bitcoin.

Further there is no confirmation from ebay that they are ready to accept bitcoin though EBay Teases 'Digital Wallet' in Investor Presentation as Crypto Rumors Swirl
Let's just wait until they are the ones to unveil what they are about to launch soon.

I agree. Besides, it's not like it is a service that the majority of this industry needs badly. If anything, it's a type of service that crypto users would only use for convenience and not for needs.
Yes, it's different from the other payment methods that really sees a threat to bitcoin. As for ebay, it's just another service where we can spend our bitcoins if we want to.

It's already multiple times I heard Ebay want to accept Bitcoin, but the fact there's no real move to realizing that. Last year they did allow NFT trade [1] on their platform without create any rumor or hype, they didn't made any official announcement. I feel they're not brave to take a risk of accepting Bitcoin as alternative, maybe they want to let another big marketplace accept it first e.g. amazon.

[1] https://cointelegraph.com/news/online-marketplace-ebay-now-allows-nft-sales

eBay is just "stalling" by making people believe it's going to accept Bitcoin in order to attract as much money into it. I don't think eBay will ever accept Bitcoin as payment method simply because the risk is too high to bear. Not only Bitcoin's price volatility could affect eBay's profit margin, but there would also be regulatory concerns that eBay would need to face in the long run. Regulators will "stab" eBay in the back if it decides to adopt Bitcoin as payment method (with the excuse that it can be used for tax evasion). That's why eBay and other prominent companies have been too skeptical in opening their arms to Bitcoin.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if eBay accepts Bitcoin or not, since you can still buy eBay gift cards and even virtual VISA cards with Bitcoin through third-parties (eg: eGifter, Bitrefill). Things would've been different if there was no service where you can use your Bitcoin for eBay purchases. Just my thoughts Grin

So that's how it is. Well at least now I know. It would be nice though if they'd put out better detailed announcements so as to not mislead people. Specially when lots of people recycles just about any news and adds flase things as they please to rake in some good traffic. Although it's just right that people should do their due diligence in researching about things that pique their interests, not everyone has the spare time for such news or won't even try to make time since it ain't that needed by the majority. Besides, they owe it to the crowd to be more detailed so to make it easier to hook people to use their services.

Actually, this good news has-been spreading since the last year about eBay searching for specific ways of payment with crypto.
But in the last February, we additionally heard also about this good news. Will it really is realized?
I also read about this:
Quote
eBay Could Soon Permit Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Altcoin Payments
.
So, it may be only for certain cryptocurrencies. However, although it is only for several cryptos, it will become very good progress if we know that a big worldwide merchant can exactly accept crypto as payment.
But once more, this is still a plan and still not happen, so everythingmay change again due to the tme flows.

We really do not need any further endorsement from anyone to be a game changer. This was huge when they would have accepted 7 years back when we are in the starting phase but right now there is not a kid in the financial sector that is not aware of the cryptocurrency market. So i would not bother nor many here would bother whether they add or not Cheesy.

Let's just take it as is and what their stand right now. Don't take it too serious as of the moment when analysts and experts are telling Ebay "might" accept bitcoin.
Always take it with a grain of salt when there are news like this. You believe it or not but just always go along with the neutral of those news eve though they're likely positive and boosting.
If there is a smoke then surely there is a fire, remember that when PayPal starts this sounds>? people also deny that fact years ago but look what happened ?

Never forget that Big companies now are trying to adopt bitcoin so Never doubt that this will happen lol.

Lets just put up some example on businesses or companies in the past that had considered on applying bitcoin as a payment option Ex. STEAM.. This might not be a ecommerce
but rather one of the biggest gaming company which they had decided on putting or adopting bitcoin as a payment option and later on  they had removed it because they couldnt
just deal with the fees plus the volatility on which i wont be surprised if these companies would actually do the same but it would be depending on the actual
benefit that it gives.

The ebay CEO sees that bitcoin already has a large number of users and even the impact is very large compared to fiat now imo, so it's an opportunity for them to be able to make a profit. although nowadays there are many online buying/selling sites that adopt crypto payments but ebay is one of the largest online buying/selling sites in the world with a very large daily active users, this will bring adoption closer.
