the charges on ebay do seem quite high - sales taxes on things that have already had their sale taxes paid.

I was just thinking the same thing.  The only way it would be successful is if there's a way to protect us from scammers.

Feedback on ebay works well although it puts honest new traders at a disadvantage and doesn't help with cracked accounts.

Escrow would work but means trusting a third party which we should avoid if possible.

How about tying selling accounts to a bitcoin address? It would be perfect security except where the cracker has the wallet.dat of the seller. This would break the anonymous nature of bitcoin a little but I think that's ok for a public action site.

Also don't put 'bay' anywhere in the name. Ebay might just sue.

Anybody know of or heard of any BTC friendly ebay type sites? If not are any in the making? I think this would highly benefit the growth of our beloved bitcoin. Thoughts? Im zero down to trade over a forum with people I dont know without a maybe MtGox type site being the intermediate of the sales. Id attempt to make one but Im pretty sure anything I make would last about .01 seconds against any hacking efforts.
