Interesting that a person applying for the CEO position of Twitter is asking for payment in Bitcoin. That is how strong bitcoin has become over the years. More adoption yet to come and we may see even the majority workforce in USA getting paid in bitcoin.
Honestly I saw this on the twitter itself but this was more like a Joke made by Snowden on the Twitter post by Elon Musk. I don't think there is any genuineness connected with this. Also as far as I know Twitter's head office is in USA, so unless Elon is planning to shift it somewhere in Russia, possibility of this looks really grim to me for sure. Also not sure how would the American Employees of the company be happy about such a thing.

I was supportive of Snowden for a while because I really don't think whistleblowers should be prosecuted, given the importance of the things they make public. That being said, there are a couple of things to note in his particular case. One is that allegedly the majority of stuff he disclosed was not about mass surveillance and stuff like that, but about US military techniques and capabilities, which does pose a serious threat to national security. Another very major thing is that he not only fled to Russia but became a Russian citizen in 2022, in the middle of the war, and swore allegiance to that country. For me, as a Ukrainian, that's something I cannot accept. So whether he supports Bitcoin or not and regardless of how good or bad of a Twitter CEO he could be, I'm happy he won't be.

I'm not even sure if it would be possible for whoever owns Twitter to hire someone like Snowden who I do believe is still exiled, and a wanted criminal. Whether you agree with the reasoning or not for his wanted arrest, that basically makes him unemployable by anyone within these countries that want him arrested.

Elon would basically have to give him the company, as far as my understanding goes. Although, as for the original post I don't really find this surprising that someone like Snowden would want to be paid in Bitcoin. I think it's quite obvious he's been using cryptocurrency for a long time, and was probably one of the early adopters. Snowden is all about privacy, and security. He uses Qubes OS, and various other software level security practices, probably only uses a certain brand of computer, and treats his privacy like its gold Bitcoin.

Also, the news sources it's coming from isn't exactly reputable. I haven't clicked to go read it, so if there's further links in there to a source, it'd be great if someone could link it. I don't use Twitter, so maybe Snowden tweeted something like this directly?

This would never happen. He's got too much dirt on him and has made many enemies that you rather die than see him become Twitter's CEO. Besides Elon wouldn't fancy the idea of paying anyone in Bitcoin because he is a doge coin supporter. Grin
I think that the news can be read in more than one way, although it is difficult to read what is behind its lines :
- Even if Musk agreed, he would enter into a procedural adventure, as Snowden is wanted by the US authorities.
This will be considered the end of the glory of Twitter because the Americans will continue to accuse Russia of controlling its internal affairs.
- Snowden's inclusion of Bitcoin as a means of payment cannot be innocent, because why didn't he ask for Dodge instead, given that Musk is a big supporter of it.
- Snowden may be looking for media attention again so as not to lose sight of the limelight, and he is making this suggestion as a joke and not a real show.

Aside from Edward, we have another contender on the line ~ Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg wants to be CEO of Twitter

Nah, that's a bloody joke. If he became the CEO then Twitter would be rapped into bankruptcy because he has no prior leadership experience Smiley
Yeah, a joke that's been startled by most Twitter users that have responded to Elon's poll survey.

Elon's category for the next CEO he said as someone who's "foolish enough". Well then, we don't know what's on his mind and if this is going to be the standard that he really wants.

But yeah, this is certainly a joke and he's not a CEO material if it's Twitter.

I do not think it is about the dirt or the history anyone may have, I believe it is mostly about the political consequences of that person's actions. Snowden sin was to face and challenge the people in power, their bosses, there are politicians who have gone through scandals and still hold their positions.

Also, keeping in mind how the FUD has evolved against the PoW coins, I would not be surprised if Musk already discarded Dogecoin as his favorite. I assume he already made some money off the doge hype.

I know if Twitter will be on the person like Edward, we might see some good privacy matters and there could be balance in everything as that what Elon wants.

But even if Elon just announced that he wants someone to replace him as CEO, I think before even making that poll and decision, he's already made a choice of it.

In comparison to Elon, Snowden being in charge of Twitter would be a nightmare for many people in positions of power and holding security clearances in the USA government. For example, the are many people there who believe Social media owned by political adversaries is a threat to the national security (Tiktok is an usual case or this discussion).
Political adversary?? Man do you really think of him like that?

He exposed worldwide government surveillance by leaking a few classified papers and this is what he gets from the internet? Government harassment is more than enough for him. I'm sure you guys wouldn't like a new world order, so why this?

Snowden becoming Twitter CEO is perfect. The company is private, so no earnings calls and stuff like that (IIRC), and prior to Elon's buyout, Twitter was a national security nightmare - without Snowden.
The lack of vetting was the cause of Snowden being hated. Maybe you know this or maybe you are not aware but while unearthing the bribery and corruption of the people in power, he was also responsible for people who are spies in other nations. What do you think happens to Russian guy leaking information to US government? Or what happens when someone goes into protection program to hide from mafia gets their new ID public?

I have to say wikileaks had many things, but the biggest problem came from the fact that Snowden didn't vetted and considered who he would hurt by providing these leaks. 100% supportive if some congressman got payment from an oil company and then voted for more pollution, but when you hurt innocent people it becomes a trouble.

I don't, but it would be an easy narrative to push by the media to discredit Twitter.
We should not forget that Snowden is not only viewed as a hero in the eyes of many, but also as a traitor in the United States. If he took over Twitter, the people who is already against Elon and what he is doing would not have much problem to use the fact Edward is in Russia (as citizen now) to further fearmonger against Twitter and the Russian influence on American politics.

I believe it would make sense if it happened.

I am not sure if Edward is worthy of this position or not, I am only thinking about the future of twitter and whether I still get follow quick news in the future or not?

Plus, if they start paying this guy in Bitcoin then damn, let him be CEO and hope that Elon keeps buying bitcoins to pay his fat pocket salary each month. At least that will help us as hodler. We will know exactly how everyone else will be reacting to this kind of adoption. Let us hope that other billionaires follow the same trend and slowly it injects the whole damn thing everywhere in the world.

That being said, imagine if Edward is CEO and he enforces the tip button which was thought long ago by Elon. DOGE would be seeing some good days in the future. Though we learnt our lesson about the DOGE, then also there are millions of followers and hodlers, so anything can happen with the event tha tis described in the OP.

The only correct/hones thing in this shitshow is Elon's answer there:
The question is not finding a CEO, the question is finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive
That's the perfect answer. Twitter is a government tool used for many "operations" and it needs a CEO that has a leash in the hands of NSA who is also cooperating with other 3 letter agencies. That way they can keep this tool alive. Someone like Snowden who has already ran away and leaked NSA secrets is not a possible choice because that would kill the platform! Wink

I'm waiting for Elon to come up with another tweet concerning the poll that he has made. It seems that he'll kick himself out of the CEO position and having that said, Snowden applies for it showing his interest in the position. I doubt that Elon will just actually give him that position since he's no longer a US citizen. Just a few months ago Snowden was granted by the Russian government his citizenship there. So, there could be some conflicts with it along with personal interest.
He won't. It was sort of a pun on Snowden behalf since he knows twitter is a US based company and he is a fugitive of the US government thus can not own or operate anything within it's borders.
Addition to this Elon wouldn't be able to pay him in bitcoin since he probably will end up selling his holdings due to his other companies stocks had been suffering since his takeover of the platform. Some have speculated it has taken all his time away from the operating of his other companies.

Why do I have the feeling that this is fake news/clickbait? I'm not going to visit this link, because I haven't seen this moneywreckers.com website before.
You probably know that Snowden will get arrested immediately after he enters the USA.
The idea of Edward Snowden becoming a CEO of Twitter while he is still in Russia seems like a joke to me.
Assuming that Snowden really wants to get paid via Bitcoin? So what? Bitcoin is transparent(unless he is going to use a trusted BTC mixer).
A guy like Edward Snowden would be more interested in privacy coins like Monero. I don't believe that the information is legit. Maybe the news are fake or maybe Snowden is joking.

I find a bit unlikely Elon will step down this quick - he might find some trick to get out of this dilemma he created for himself - and I also find it highly unlikely to make Twitter CEO people like Snowden or Snoop Dogg or others who would propose themselves as CEO.
The results of the poll conducted by Elon Musk surprised me personally, because I thought that with Elon Musk success in acquiring Twitter of course the influence would be even greater, but after the poll was conducted, it turned out that many people wanted Elon Musk to leave his post, even though the results of the poll would not actually materialize, but I think the results of this poll could be a sign that Elon Musk is not really liked by Twitter residents, but if Elon Musk really resigns then of course Snowden is not the right criterion to become the next CEO of Twitter, I personally might prefer the old CEO to return to that position.

To be honest, I am not surprised that he already wants to step down as twitter CEO as he is known for losing interest in something fast (Bitcoin, Doge etc) so this would be just business as usual for him. He will soon find new toy anyway.

I've read that Elon asked in a poll if he should step down as CEO and the answer was yes. Let's see what he does, but the people have spoken.
He is of course not stepping down because of the poll results, as he obviously decided that before, and this was just something for the audience.

How can someone say that it’s already a thing? From what I see is that it’s a tweet that suggests that he wants to become the CEO of Twitter but not applying to it. It’s like saying, yeah, if it only pays in bitcoin, but no other motivating thing or words were given, so I don’t think this should be taken seriously.
