I just installed the latest version 2.7.14 on OSX over the old version. When opening electrum it tells me that my trezor wallet contains multiple accounts, it should not. I don't know why it is telling me that ...
I don't know how to proceed. I might find an older version and install it before opening the latest version to make sure nothing important is lost.

I can also absolutely not lose my transaction history from the old version for example or names I have given to addresses... I guess my old version was something like 2.6.x ..  is there a risk that I will lose anything whatsoever?

Solved: After backing up the wallet, I answered to split the wallet. It created two new wallet files  wallet.0 and wallet.1. I answered not to delete the old wallet file, as a result the question to split the wallet came up every time I opened electrum so I moved the old wallet out of the folder.
All functionality is available as far as I can see. Initially the "Addresses" tab was gone but it can be brought back easily from the menu. Trezor was recognized.

we removed the logic that handles several accounts in the same wallet file and gui window.
accounts are now handled in separate files.
it also improves user privacy.

2.6.4
Is Still possible to use it? for how long?

You should be able to use it just fine until it's no longer supported or an update that makes it obsolete/problematic comes out. Probably won't happen anytime soon, if ever.

But i never used that address once.  I used this other one at least 50 times etc.  No issue with me using the one i always use right?

don't fixate too much on addresses. think of them as disposable entry points into your wallet. you use an address once and then you never use it again. that doesn't mean that you can't use it again. it's just that it is bad for your privacy because all transactions are public. so best not to reuse addresses.

Yes. Though it's not recommended to use one address too much (privacy concern, mostly).

okay so curious on this.  Do most of you use the receiving address that is shown on electrum on the receive tab?

Or you use the other ones?  So that means based on what i described, i have 35 different bitcoin addresses that i can give others if i want to receive bitcoin right?

They are the same thing. You'll find the address shown on the receive tab on the address tab also.

I tried to install v 2.7.9 on Linux Mint 18 and it did not work. This is the output I got:

You are using pip version 8.1.1, however version 8.1.2 is available.
You should consider upgrading via the 'pip install --upgrade pip' command.

Any idea on how to fix it?

edit: never mind. It worked by "Installation from Python sources"

So how many bitcoin receiving addresses do i have then?  So i have 35 different bitcoin receiving addresses?

You have an unlimited number of addresses. These are just the ones that have been generated to date. More will be generated once you start using addresses.

How do we set custom fees in the new electrum version?
The slider bar doesn't lend itself to selection of fees at the satoshi level.
I usually adjust the fees so that there are no dust outputs.

Tools > Preferences > Uncheck "Use dynamic fee" (under the fees tab).

i did this and it does show the addresses now.

It shows 20 addresses for receiving tab but all of them show 0.

For the change option... theres about 15 addresses and one of them is the one i used the most and it shows the amount of times i used it.

So how many bitcoin receiving addresses do i have then?  So i have 35 different bitcoin receiving addresses?

The one that shows on the receive tab is the first bitcoin address on the Receiving on the addresses tab.

My receive page looks like this

Receiving Address:  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Description:

Requested amount        BTC

Request Expires      1 day

There is only one receiving address.  Unless there is something in the settings i have to change?

press ctrl+a to bring the addresses tab into view. you will see all your receiving addresses there.

It does show the transactions on the history.  I meant on the receive tab... i use to have a few addresses.  It showed how many times i used each address etc.  For example, there is one bitcoin address i used so many times compared to others.  So do i still have this address or not?

When i go to wallet, addresses, it just shows the receive page.

Shows my receiving address which is just 1 address.

So that means i only have 1 receiving bitcoin address now?  Thus my old bitcoin address that i used so many times with electrum 2.6.4... i dont have it anymore?

You should still have all your addresses from before.
Addresses page (tab) and receive page are two completely different thing. Can you post a screenshot of this "receive page" you mentioned?

i reinstalled electrum on new computer.  I then put in the 12 word phrase and bitcoin restored.  My issue though is there is no transaction history at all for my previous addresses.

Are you saying that the wallet doesn't show any transaction but have balance (you said bitcoin restored)?

Quote
For example i know there were a few addresses i used but i used 1 main address to receive.  However when i look at receive... there is only 1 address that is shown?  What about the option where it shows address, change etc?  I know the bitcoin address i have shown for my receive isn't the main one i used.

So the address that shows as receiving address is my bitcoin receiving address.

Why do i see requested amount and request expires in 1 day?  Can someone explain this?  So if someone send me bitcoin, i give them this receiving address.  But i leave everything else empty right?  However, what does request expires mean?  Should i stay at 1 day or put never?  For example if i request a bitcoin payout from a site, and put my receiving address, let say i don't know the exact amount of bitcoin i receive, then obviously this doesn't get filled out right?  I'm very confused what this request expire mean?   I assume it doesn't mean you are requesting bitcoin from a specific address right?  Like paypal where you bill someone for something?  That would clearly make no sense?

So i only have 1 bitcoin receiving address now with electrum 2.7.8?  How do i generate a new address?  Or just stick with this one?  How do i get the old bitcoin address i used before many times or i cannot do this?

Go to Wallet > Addresses. It will show your addresses tab which shows your other addresses.
The expire date is useful for giving time limit for a payment and nothing else. Just pick "Never" if you don't want it. But if you don't know the exact amount you'll be receiving just leave everything empty or give them the address (if you don't need the QR).
It doesn't mean you are requesting bitcoin from a specific address like paypal and yes, that would clearly make no sense.

For sending bitcoin, i assume everything is still the same?  I have transaction fee per kb is set at 0.0005 btc/kb.  Don't change this right?  So this should come out to 6-8 cents a transfer when sending?  But if you leave it at 0, then it takes very long for transaction to confirm and thus never do this and leave it at 0.0005?

Leaving it alone would be fine for now. But setting it to dynamic fee (from Tools > Preference > Use dynamic fee) and moving the slider a little to the right side would be better if you don't know much about transaction fees.
