I would actually still be very careful using electron cash. I saw one guy importing his private keys into electron cash and as soon the keys got imported the coins were send to addresses that weren't his. Electrum stated that the version isn't 100% stable yet so be cautious.

was the electron cash software legit or was it malware that behaved in such a way? I think I had the same problem, but my electron cash was downloaded from the correct site. so why did the BTC go to an unknown address?

I haven't used Electron yet but i doubt it to be bug free. One of my friend coins were lost too as they were send to unknown address. Can someone tell his successful experience with electron cash ?

I have accidentaly install the Electron Cash wallet on the same computer where I have my bitcoin wallet Electrum.
Do I need to worry about my funds because I did not give my wallet private key for redeem my BCC on the same computer?

Can I use Electrum again if I make a new wallet or is it still infected with the malware from the Electron Cash wallet? or do you recommend to use another wallet because I like using Electrum.

Also I was not able to get my funds from the BCC after the fork and I followed all those steps.

Please need some help.

Do you know how the registration situation with Hitbtc is? Because I would have to registrate, but if it takes weeks like Bitstamp, Kraken, etc I'm gonna use Bittrex to solve this problem quickly.

PS: I would send the BCH to Electron Cash, and of course I would never use again the Electrum wallet I have right now, do you suggest to remove Electrum before using Electron Cash or simply doesn't matter since it's empty?
I guess it is too late now but Hitbtc have no requirement i registered with them and sold some BCC and withdraw without any problem . about Bittrex I sent to them with recommendation fess and I got my BCC after more than 24 hours .
Thanks anyway, I appreciate your help!  Wink

I had an electrum wallet with a small amount of money like 0.2 BTC on one of my computers and have tried launching electron without installing it. Just downloaded an executable  and it launched a wallet within seconds. I was asked to point to a wallet file, so I chose my old electrum and boom, all my bcc was visible and ready for transfer.
I sent my BCC to an exchange 3 days ago and my BTC is still on my old electrum, with the wallet working fine, so no files were damaged or anything. I don't recommend it if you have a lot of coins, but IMO installing electron on the same system with electrum and pointing it to electrum wallet files is relatively safe and works fine.

Yesterday I sent the BCH to Bittrex through Exodus, it's taking ages to receive them, it's been 12 hours until now and I only got 6/20 confirmations  Cry

In another transaction I had a Shapeshift transaction when BCH was ~$500 for 50% of my coins and it was cancelled and the BCH refunded to me  Tongue
Redoing this now using Electron since I think Shapeshift is throwing up BCH after some time and I am at 6 confirmations.  Maybe Monday morning  Grin

What do you expect? BCC is the inferior version of Bitcoin not supported by a majority of the miners. Furthermore, we are still in the midst of this 'revolution.
And each revolution has its transition period, instead of 6 confirmations we need 20/30.  Wait until August 10 to see the final lock down this scaling upgrade.
Using your coins now - even dumping BCH is not 100% safe, and if you are paranoid like me you will understand.

Just got them on Kraken, I feel better now, I was actually worried  Tongue

I wrote to Exodus asking more info about their way to get the Bitcoin Cash and, as usual, they answered me very quickly, I really like those guys and their wallet.

My question:
Will the Exodus BTC private keys be 100% safe? I mean, after sending the BCH to a Cash wallet there is no way the wallet could get access to the Exodus BTC private keys?

Exodus answer:
If you are using the one-click method in Exodus your private keys are not at risk because you are only sending  a transaction and there will be no access to your private keys.

So I guess I'm gonna try this way, but where could I send the BCH? Is there an exchange that allows deposits? Bitstamp no, Kraken not yet, what about Bittrex? Because I have accounts on these exchanges only (well, plus Poloniex...).
Glad that you solved your problem . A lot of exchanges allowing BCC deposit the one i tried and working is ( Bittrex , Hitbtc ) . Bittrex require 20 confirmation took me almost full day to get my coins . Hitbtc require 2 confirmations got my coins fast . Just check the prices and decide which is better for you .

At the moment just to avoid any problem I'm moving all the BTC to Kraken, I checked various times the address and it's correct, I see my Kraken address in both Electrum and Blockchain.info, so they should arrive.
I don't know how long it'll take, I sent them like 10-15 minutes ago and Electrum still reports "unconfirmed", shouldn't I see the clock at this point? Or it takes ore than 10 minutes to display the clock?
That is totally depends on the fee you paid if you paid the recommended fee it should arrive in 5 block or less . give it 30 min it should get its first confirmation by then .

I have also installed Electrum and Electron Cash on the same machine and nothing bad happened (I have made a backup of my Bitcoin keys before, obviously).

What Electron Cash did, however, was to copy the files of my Electrum data directory and storing them in its own data directory (on Linux, Electrum is on ~/.electrum and Electron Cash on ~/.electron-cash). That's the reason why it asks the passwords of your original Electrum wallet.

The best choice is to move one of both coin incarnations (BTC or BCC) into a fresh wallet out of Electrum/on (create it with File -> New/Restore). As long as you have your seed and/or your keys, in theory nothing bad can happen because of the replay protection.

I separated my BTC and BCC with this method without problems.

(I am not an expert. So if you are totally new to Bitcoin maybe better keep on the safe side and install Electron Cash in a virtual machine or something like that.)

DEAL WITH CAUTION

Before installing your electron cash, I would recommend importing your private keys or just moving it so electron cash doesn't mess you up. Some wallets for Bitcoin cash may delete files related to bitcoin and you may lose all your Bitcoin, so that's why I would recommend using an online wallet to store your Bitcoin when setting up electron wallet, or even better using a hardware wallet for added protection.

Electrum themselves said that their wallet is still unstable, so I would just hold off installing electron wallet just right now until the dev team of electrum dust out some bugs and everything gets fixed.

So guys, since at the moment I'm storing my BTC in Electrum, and on the same computer I've installed Electron Cash as well, what do you suggest to do? To send them back to Exodus (or in an exchange) in order to avoid any possible problem between Electrum and Electron Cash?

If you want to get that route win Exodus, I suggest you only try a small portion of your bitcoin stash and see how it goes. Don't try to put your bitcoin is one transaction. If the small bitcoin was successful split with BCH/BCC then I think Exodus will be your option. I'm not sure about Electron Cash, take note that Electrum didn't endorsed it based on their website. And as the website says, used two different computers. The likely hood of you losing your btc is high if you used one pc. Goodluck.

I had installed Electron Cash and nothing bad didn't happened. But, for unknown reasons, I wasn't able to send BCH from Electron wallet. Then I decided to install Coinomi app on my android phone, imported private keys there and I have only good experience with this wallet.
Unfortunately I have only one computer...

And what do you think about this post on Exodus website: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/how-do-i-claim-bitcoin-cash

Especially this:

Is it actually safe to do as they say or the private keys could be jeopardized in some way?
Why do you think it's unsafe? I only recomend to leave empty BTC wallet before claiming BCH. It's for basic safet of your Bitcoins.
