Anyone know a NMC wallet that works online with Elgius ?

Thanks

I just use Namecoin-QT. I do not trust leaving any quantity of anything at BTC-e or any other exchange unless I'm actively trading.

+1 on NQT

+123 on the bold text. This is good practice and this will prevent a lot of headaches for newbs/amateurs. Never have funds/coins out of your hands unless actively needing to trade/move/purchase/sell etc.

I agree with this sentiment completely.  Never leave anything that you're not willing to lose on an exchange.

However, I will note that Cryptsy has a nice auto-sell feature.  As soon as coins are transferred into your Cryptsy deposit address, they are traded out for BTC, and the BTC is held.  Assuming that your NMC amounts are small (as they are for most individual miners), you may feel comfortable leaving those BTC in Cryptsy for a day or two at a time.  I have found it helpful to auto-xfer my NMC to Cryptsy and use it to invest/trade small amounts (like .01 BTC) in other altcoins that catch my interest.  Of course, I generally withdraw those altcoins ASAP to a wallet under my control.  Not that they are worth much, but it is fun to dip your hand into many pools and to get a sense of the flavor of the various altcoins.  E.g. I found it interesting to reserve a name with Namecoin, and to set up Proof of Stake with Peercoin.

What about those blocks marked as "Unknown" taking up 23% of the hashing power? Are they really unknown or is that a blockchain.info bug?

Probably very large miners solo mining or using a private pool.

Do these stats look right for luck?

I downloaded the block stats from the API into a table, calculated the "ideal" block solve time for each one based on the difficulty and pool hash at the time, then summed that up for each quantity and divided it by the sum of what really happened.

I looked at mr. math wizard's charts, but I don't understand it, and I don't see plain luck there to compare with. Smiley

Thanks,

M

I just use Namecoin-QT. I do not trust leaving any quantity of anything at BTC-e or any other exchange unless I'm actively trading. I don't like using the exchanges as wallets. This attitude of mine predates the troubles at Mt. Gox, but that just strengthened the view. I've also had instances where BTC-e in particular stopped all BTC withdraws for a few days, and other instances where they take an absurd amount of time to make the transfer. They have a high transfer fee, and it is't because they put it towards your transfer. It's another way they charge you. I assume the use the lowest possible tx fee possible, apart from sending it with no fee at all. I'm sure your NMC would be relatively safe. I'm just giving you my opinion, since you are asking about it. At least you can encrypt QT. it's just password encryption, but it's something. With BTC-e, you can add 2-factor authorization for the site, but you have not control as to what they might be doing with it on the other side. I trade there, but can't say that I have a lot of trust. I never transfer fiat to them, and only trade with small quantities of BTC unless they flake out. Oddly enough, they're one of the more 'trusted' exchanges.

Cmon no one has found a block in 2 hours?!?

Not that they've released to the public yet. Wink

Haha

I think blockchain.info is still messed up. Ghash.io just reported two blocks but don't see on blockchain.info

Yup. That's it. https://blockexplorer.com/

I guess on the bright side, we can look forward to a big lump NMC payout soon. Its not much compared to the BTC payouts, but its a nice little bonus.

IHi,

Looks like I am loosing hash rate with low difficulty shares.
Is it possible to set the workers minimum difficulty?

thanks,

You can request for a given minimum difficulty with a command-line option in cgminer and bfgminer. If I remember well, wizkid once said that the pool honors those request. (But may request higher difficulty shares if you send more than 30 shares per minutes)

BTC-e works.

NMC payouts have temporarily been suspended until wk can go back and fully fix/rectify any issues last I heard, though.

If you want to let organofcorti do the work for you, he has a weekly report such as this one:

http://organofcorti.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/march-16th-2014-weekly-hashrate.html

If you go down to Figure 5, you can see his plot of recent Eligius luck.

Bookmarked.  Thanks!

Maybe someone "in the know" can update the help page?  I did read the info there, more than once, before I started posting in this thread.  The information doesn't always make sense (to me atleast), and googling can sometimes lead to contradictory information.

I'd be down with that.  I ..uhhh.. volunteer as tribute?  If anyone at Eligius needs help writing documentation or even just keeping it updated, I'm available.

Shoot me a PM or respond here if that's more prudent.  I'll take no offense if my offer is declined, either.

Oddly enough I'm able to change it from user options. So now it says:

Note: Your minimum payout was customized to 0.01048576 BTC under 'My Eligius'.

This doesn't correspond to what you said. Just confusing I guess. Anyways, doesn't really matter too much. I've always been paid by the pool Smiley

It's a configurable option in case that isn't apparent by now.

I think 0.01048576 is the absolute minimum.  It used to be lower, but wz or wz/Luke-Jr raised it a bit.

Here's an idea: Instead of trying to get rich quick, get a job.

Well that's a much less subtle way to say what I was thinking when I just posted.   Cheesy

I've spent much of my life savings and credit to get seriously into mining.

That's truly a scary factoid, if true.  I wish you the best.  I question the soundness of the judgment that undertook such an endeavor - even back in January.

But regardless, I wish you the best and all the luck in the world.

I didn't count in current block, very unlucky one, and there were two very lucky blocks: 2114,00% and 1240,20%.
From 2014-mar-16 13:46:29
To    2014-mar-17 13:19:57
28 blocks found
00:50:29 average time
That 50:29 is better than average, but nowhere near 300%. Are you sure you're not just averaging the luck % numbers? You can't do that.
Ah, I did just that.
After reading all that replies, I now know I can not do that.
I was suspicious on 300%, because 50:29 was better than average, but not 300%.

just the timestamps for the first block and the last block, and the number of blocks in between.
Thanks for that.

So I looked at my NMC deposit address, and the last deposit I got from Eligius was on 2014-03-08. Is this the same as everyone else?

Mine is similar at 2014-03-09.
WK has already said he is working on this and we will get a big payment once he is done.
No worries here.
