'Sigh' it seems people will always behave foolish even when the reality is glaring right in front of them, how easy is it for some people to throw money around to people on the Internet, no wonder scammers are not trying too hard when we have the likes of him everywhere, I hope he learnt something from this and others who are potential victim should learn also Undecided

Who is responsible for such giveaway scams? We are the one who is responsible for these kinds of scams because of our greedy behavior. If you take a deep look at the scam accusation board then you will discover many giveaway scams. So these methods become very old. But it's quite surprising that people still want to double their money within minutes, unfortunately. I have seen many posts on Twitter about double money, but I never click there. This means we have to use our common sense to save our money. No one could save us if we do not help ourselves.

Indeed one would expect that a person that holds 10 BTCs would be rather more savvy than to fall for something that’s been going on for quite some time under one guise or another. Nevertheless, how on earth can this be part of any plot to evade taxes?

If anyone want’s to play detective with the TXs and addresses involved, I posted them previously here:

The case of a scammer who uses the name of a famous person to give an asset multiplication giveaway is not the first time. scammer traps like this often occur and are carried out on Twitter, medium articles or on a live stream. I don't know how many times a fake giveaway like this can trap someone and why do some still believe it without doing research first.
elons musk or other famous personalities would not giveaway this way, although famous people should still be on their guard.

Nothing lasts forever
I can't even believe someone would deposit such a huge amount of cryptocurrencies just like that.
Who would give double the amount of cryptocurrencies in just 30 minutes for doing nothing? Isn't it an obvious scam.
He could have simply tested it by a depositing a small amount first but even that wasn't necessary for such obvious scams.
To be honest, he didn't deserve to hold those coins or may be the news is just fake.

The man deposited on fake address to double his Bitcoins in 30 minutes time frame without even realising that it is clear scam. Why would Musk announce such a giveaway? People just got eroded away with the greed and ends up loosing all their money. We need to first recheck everything before doing such stupid acts and act wisely.

The 'Bitcoin Doubling Scam' strikes again but now its more upgraded since they are using an influencers name to fish in more people. Its true that Elon's name is really powerful when it comes to the world of Financial Technologies but we need to stop being gullible with the fact that we need to know that there is no "FREE" money. Everything that we are gaining within the Cryptocurrency Industry is done with work and it takes time to earn.

Its good that you have alerted most users here within the forum and I hope that nobody gets scammed by this anymore.

It is funny how people still fall for obvious dubious schemes. I do not blame the hackers for using Elon Musk's profile as the bait since they are also looking for means to scam more people and people will only go for what seems trustworthy. They only use Elon Musk's popularity as an opportunity to prey on unsuspecting victims. I blame the man who was driven by his greed to get his doubled in a few hours. No legitimate sites or person would ever promise you that.
Well, it is good he has learnt his lessons howbeit the hard way. It is only necessary we become conscious of this so as not to fall victim. It is important that we learn from the mistakes of others so we don't make them ourselves

Elon Musk is not a scammer. Twitter is his personal space and he can write anything on this twitter profile / bio. He never wrote in this profile to buy bitcoin and dogecoin. If people start buying dogecoin after seeing his tweets, then its people mistake who do not think before investing and blindly invest in a shit coin like dogecoin.
Its not him actually, during that time big names and verified twitter accounts on twitter got hacked including him. So probably a hacker took advantage of twitter influencers account and made a lot of money out of their tweets. Unfortunately still there are a lot of innocent people fall to hackers prey, people really need to educate themselves.

Elon Musk name once again used to fool people by hackers!
No, it will be used again and again, infinity and beyond Grin
even google adsense on youtube can promote a scam like this nowadays.

In the first place, I thought this kind of scam is not working anymore. but I was wrong.
it still works, but why that those who own that big amount of BTC can be scammed in this cheap way.

domain provider should limit some of the domain name usages. it should be double-checked first before it's online.
in this case, can I sue the domain name provider?

I don't see any reason why Elon Musk should be drag into this, the scam have taken place for a while now sometimes in February or so and actions have been taken against the scammer. But I still blame the victim for his ignorance because Elon musk have a verified Twitter account and an unverified Twitter account in his name should contact you,  one should know it potential scam about to happen.  I am sure Elon musk is not even aware of this whole scam issues.

The thing is, the account was not unverified.  Grin  The scammers look like they were prepared really well and waited for some people to take the bait. And unfortunately it happened. But I think still one should think that why a prominent person would offer such thing.

Actually the account used by the scammer was also a verified one:
Quote
In some cases, like the one that tricked Sebastian, the criminals use stolen accounts of prominent people to ensure they have the blue 'verified' tick to make the account seem more trustworthy.

It means verified logo from Twitter means nothing. Twitter verifies too many people and these people just sell their accounts to scammers, so they can pretend to be famous personalities like Elon Musk, giving more credibility to the scam attempt. To say the truth I wasn't aware about that tectic until I read these news above and understood what was behind the verified logo account used by the scammer.

I expect this scenario will come and finally, scammers did the best shot and succeed in his 1 million dollar trick.

I'm just Kinda disappointed how this person could give easily his trust to a person who knows online. I'm not sure if he is aware of this scam trick, in fact, this thing is very known to everyone.

I understand that because the scammer uses the name Elon Musk for their benefits but I don't wonder also how he never do any actions to validate if that person is real Elon or not. Anyway, that ignorance will always bring us no good.

This happened, almost like a blatant robbery.  it lost the pride and reputation of the people involved, even using bitcoin as a tool.  A century hoax.  Elon Musk's appeal this year is still rising and the heat is huge.  Whenever, limit trust and use reason to test and shape any situation.  Double the number of bitcoins?  greed has come out of generosity that obscures reason.

Two things.
1. Why would a celebrity do such giveaway like this? And if it is a giveaway, why need to send or even deposit BTC? That single word of sending something is surely a scam. That's why I don't trust these giveaways of any forms anyway.
2. Elon Musk, really? This is why I don't let myself being celebrity driven hodler. No matter what celebrities claims at to crypto news, I don't usually take their word in its face value.

This whole story seems fishy. Anyone with 10 btc right now is aware of various scams and hacked or fake accounts and is not sending that much to obvious scams. I smell tax evasion or some sort of money laundering happening in here.

Ever since Elon Musk got involved in crypto, loads of events have unfolded, scammers have decided to deploy their skills in graphic designs to modify most of Musk's comments and also deployed formts that are claimed to have come from Musk towards doubling on their investments. All should be careful of these scammers as they are out to make more off those who are genuinely making money but ignorant of their devices.

Musk has been in limelight from past year from gaining huge wealth and becoming richest person on the planet with net worth of $200 billion surpassing Jeff Bezos. This happened due to instant rise in Tesla share prices and Elon became socially active on crypto related tweets promoting Dogecoin to insane pumps and adding Bitcoin in his bio.But on the other hand he is associated with some scams also not done by him but by hackers in his name like vanity address scam I mentioned here Vanity address scam to the latest ones.

New scam which has been done in his name is A Germany man lost Bitcoins worth 4 crores by depositing them on fake deposit address mentioned on Musk twiiter which was done by hacker.

There is nothing weird here. Elon is famous and scammers use his name to fool people. Fraudsters looking for every chance to fool others. Everyone should think twice before sending their coins to other accounts.

Sometimes when people see a great promise for a major benefit/profit-their minds stop working.
Even I fell a victim into a BTC scam last year.I've lost only 100USD worth of BTC,so I was lucky I guess.
I just wanted to test the service offered by the scammer with a small amount of BTC and I got scammed.
I was expecting to be scammed, but I still got surprised, when I was scammed. Grin
I get why people are falling for this "double your Bitcoins" scam, even though the scam doesn't make any sense from a logical perspective.
Greed actually lured you even when you knew it was scam you still tested the dept of the River with both of your feet. You'd be happy it was only $100 worth of BTC the scam cost you. We just have to be be careful and stay safe to avoid such scams around.

When you say "he is associated with some scam", it sounds so wrong. Feels like you are implying that it's his fault lol. Anyway, this isn't something new. I still don't get it, how come people fall for this kind of scams? Don't they read the news or do any diggings before sending their money? I mean if I were to invest some huge amount of money, I would start googling and look for information.
If they are this stupid thinking that they will get quick money from Elon, then they sadly deserve to get scammed. At least it will teach them a lesson!
I agree, being as stupid as to think that a famous person like Elon who doesn't even know you personally is going to give you a lot of money when you send him the required money then they probably deserve the scam. The reason that people fall for this in my opinion is that a lot of people do not exercise their critical thinking and common sense which should be cultivated during the formative years of childhood and it should be completely operational by the age of reason but given that there are still people that fall for this is evident that there isn't a lot of people that has the necessary critical thinking skills and common sense.
