Unfortunately, that man who fall for that old trick "double your bitcoin", can not take back what he sent to the scammer. And the fact that he believe the one he transacted with was Elon Musk. We can't blame people who are being attracted to the easy money.

Hope this one will serve as a lesson for everyone, Elon and other popular business tycon names will never do such act of giving out doubling money. If they wanted to give out money, they will give it out without compromised.

We know how Elon Musk can influence a lot of people by simply making a tweet, that is how the richest person in the world can do, he can manipulate the market by mentioning bitcoin or any altcoin just like what happened when he put on his bio the hashtag bitcoin and recently when he also mentions about the dogecoin. So because of that a lot of scammers and hackers got interested on him in a way that they have created a fake account to gain money to a lot of people and those unfortunate people could be a victim for those scam using the profile of Elon Musk. So always make sure that you are sure before putting some money.

When you say "he is associated with some scam", it sounds so wrong. Feels like you are implying that it's his fault lol. Anyway, this isn't something new. I still don't get it, how come people fall for this kind of scams? Don't they read the news or do any diggings before sending their money? I mean if I were to invest some huge amount of money, I would start googling and look for information.
If they are this stupid thinking that they will get quick money from Elon, then they sadly deserve to get scammed. At least it will teach them a lesson!

Sometimes exposure will eradicate such petty scams, greed will definitely lure a lot of newbies into the hands of these wicked scammers. Imagine someone promising to double your Bitcoins in 30 minutes isn't this enough indicator to alert you it is an obvious scam? The max supply of bitcoin is fixed how on earth will such a person be able to manufacture ×2 of your bitcoin within a timeframe of 30 minutes? I hope a lot of people learn through this thread.

Sometimes when people see a great promise for a major benefit/profit-their minds stop working.
Even I fell a victim into a BTC scam last year.I've lost only 100USD worth of BTC,so I was lucky I guess.
I just wanted to test the service offered by the scammer with a small amount of BTC and I got scammed.
I was expecting to be scammed, but I still got surprised, when I was scammed. Grin
I get why people are falling for this "double your Bitcoins" scam, even though the scam doesn't make any sense from a logical perspective.

They are using it a hundred times because they know that Elon Musk is also a good and effective tool to lure people.

Elon Musk is a useful famous personality that they commonly use because of how he engaged with cryptocurrency investment and controlling the market just like what he did in Dogecoin.

Newbie investors are easily fooled when they see a popular or successful personality to promote a certain coin or to do wrong things in the market thinking that they will also become rich by that. Which really makes me sad as there are still scammers who are taking advantage of innocent/beginner investors.

These scams cater to the populace that does not fact check and does not read between the lines. That's why it works. People may argue about how stupid it is and how it's not going to fool the average person but you have to realize that the people getting scammed by these people, for the lack of a better term, are dumbasses. Don't mean to put insult to injury but that's just how I see it, this is just like the Nigerian Prince email scam if you'd think, yet as we all know people are still getting scammed by it.

...
sorry for his loss...
we need more education and more frequent warnings so that beginners can find out about the dangers that lurk them. What I'm worried about is that there will be more and more scammers like this in the future when Bitcoin is getting more and more popular and valuable. the scammers will not give up and will keep on trying until the victims continue to fall.

This is too cheap and only the greedy will fall into this type of crap. Why should you want to double your money in just 30 minutes and you believed that absolutely, when it is too good to be trust, probably it is

It is really scary to see that those people can easily disguise themselves as celebrities etc. and trick people like this. It is actually not a thing that can't be understood easily but still it is a big threat for many people. And also there are many kinds of fraud activities happening these days. I hope someday we will be able to decrease the rate of these bad events to a very low level.

It may be that they have used the name Elon Musk but such scams are nothing new, often such offers come in the mail, many offers come in spam emails that will be offering to 2x or 3x return within 5/10 minutes if you deposit. It's true that greedy people are falling into this trap. But rather than greedy people, newcomers are more likely to fall into these traps. Newcomers don't have a good idea about Bitcoin so they think this may be the main purpose of Bitcoin to doubling their money. Maybe we can't prevent these But to protect the newcomers from Ponzi/doubling offer/scam project/fake pump signal, we can create public awareness, warn the people around us about these things.

The man deposited on fake address to double his Bitcoins in 30 minutes time frame without even realising that it is clear scam. Why would Musk announce such a giveaway? People just got eroded away with the greed and ends up loosing all their money. We need to first recheck everything before doing such stupid acts and act wisely.
The bolded one is really attractive and that is obviously a scam trick that many had become a victim. This person really wanted easy money. I don't know if he does the research first or he just jumps on it without a single knowledge about what he is doing. And he can't blame Elon Musk for this but just himself. It is really hurt and disappointed but to consider this as a lesson to learn. Scammers could easly trick people who have a greedy soul and hungry for money.

It is unlikely that Elon is involved in some fraudulent scheme. It's completely different.
He is not involved in these fraudulent activities mate, I just wonder why scammers keep using his name to scam innocent people, the scam trick is kinda old but somehow people are still falling for this shit, I wonder what people think before sending bitcoin to scammer hoping to get x2 immediately makes any sense, they don't ask themselves how will someone give them x2 immediately after sending their bitcoin, it's high time people stop being too greedy and want to rich quick through crypto.

I was not surprised to knowing that the name Elon Musk was used by scammers to attract the attention of his victims, and it has proven to be
effective fraud in the crypto world by using the names of popular people to commit fraud. Lots of victims are attracted by being promised that
by making a deposit their money will be doubled, even though this method is not new. It has often been used by scammers, but there are always
new victims. Knowing this fact, I am actually quite concerned, because there are still many people who believe in fraudulent methods like this.
We should indeed have to be more vigilant with all the offers that come to us, let alone the promise of getting money the easy way.

Musk has been in limelight from past year from gaining huge wealth and becoming richest person on the planet with net worth of $200 billion surpassing Jeff Bezos. This happened due to instant rise in Tesla share prices and Elon became socially active on crypto related tweets promoting Dogecoin to insane pumps and adding Bitcoin in his bio.But on the other hand he is associated with some scams also not done by him but by hackers in his name like vanity address scam I mentioned here Vanity address scam to the latest ones.

New scam which has been done in his name is A Germany man lost Bitcoins worth 4 crores by depositing them on fake deposit address mentioned on Musk twiiter which was done by hacker.

When it comes to this then the chances for Musk Twitter and other accounts could really be the sweetest target or spot for hackers for them to hack on and
take advantage of it while the entire community is really eyeing on him when it regards to his current involvement and the popularity that he gets.
A huge user base as we say which is the perfect recipe for hackers to make out money that big with just simply publishing out some too good to be true offers
then viola, those greedy bastards would really easily fallen off into the trap until they do realize when its  already too late.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
Yes true, I heard about this funny joke that Elon Musk offers free Bitcoins !! Unfortunately, some people do not use their minds, why would Elon Musk distribute Bitcoin for free ?? !! Even if he was the richest man in the world but he definitely will not throw bitcoin in the way !!! This is nonsense and people should be more careful about this type of fraud.
These scammers are good at using the names of famous people to inflict victims. They have done so many times using the name of Satoshi before and have defrauded a lot of people.
Well, once greedy people will always be greed.
Scammers are always looking to find ways to fool people --I don't know that is innocent or just a naive one. They don't think that why Elon Musk doing this if this he really is. Doubling money is always an effective way of fooling people and every time there are victims, they will perhaps laugh and says, an idiot will always be a loser. However, this had a double victim, Elon Musk and the poor mindset of people that fall into the trap.

It is really unbelievable to see that still many people fall for these very obvious tricks. Really, how could you expect Elon Musk to offer you doubling the crypto you have if you send the amount to him? It is really strange.  Grin  And I'm afraid it doesn't look like there will be no people left believing this kind of things.

I read the article in BBC and immediately recalled Einstein's words about stupidity:

Two Things Are Infinite: the Universe and Human Stupidity

I don't know how people having $500k+ in assets fall for this sh**t. How they even made that money if they are so stupid and naïve that they will get x10 from the air?!
