Oh, and count me out for the LN testing. I'm curious to see what Amazon announces first (tomorrow, hopefully).
What Amazon announcement are you referring to?

Also, payment received. Thanks.

Week 12 payment received, that makes 3-months in this campaign already. Time absolutely flies, that's crazy. Anyways, thanks for the on-time payment DarkStar_ and ChipMixer. Is this lightning thing dead in the water for now, at least until limits have increased?

How did your alts drop to -1? Shocked We're all still here.

It's because I've been absent.

I'm back, bizznatches! Well, at least for today and tomorrow, which I'm taking a full day off for myself. @DarkStar_ please feel free to adjust your alt count properly due to my return.

Not sure if you noticed or care, but there are a couple of boxes on the spreadsheet on the Merit stats tab that are not formatting properly and throwing off the calculations. Thought I'd bring it up, because I like to peak at the merit stats.

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
If anyone knows of an SPV client that will do this, I'll be first to get my payment on the Lightning Network.

LND[1] is supposed to be a light client.
Electrum[2] is also working on adding LN features...

[1] https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd (https://github.com/lightninglabs/neutrino)
[2] https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/tree/lightning

I heard about the electrum discussions that were going on on github (I assume the lightning part doesn't function yet).

Is LND just for Linux?

I'm a little late to join the LN discussion, but I'd defenately be interested in this... I've been experimenting on the testnet for a while now, so I might as well take the leap to to the main net
NO! I'm going to be first Smiley

No you won't, I'll beat you to it Cheesy
But seriously, in my opinion LN will be for small recurring payments, or "pocket change". I don't need a full node for that, why would I care about verifying my own transactions if it's only small amounts?
Setting up a full node on dedicated hardware seems overkill to buy a coffee.

Yup, definitely won't be required as it's not an easy thing to set up at the moment, and like LoyceV mentioned, it's still highly experimental.

Just wanted to gauge interest mostly. With the current limits though, it wouldn't be very practical.

Edit: for those interested about lightning and want more info https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7pwna9/lightning_network_megathread/

As far as I can tell, you also currently need the bitcoin database (I have about 2 weeks left according to my bitcoin core Sad ).

I'd like to participate too, testing the LN is interesting for me. I don't mind risking one payment (if it's not too high Smiley )

Currently, channels are limited to 0.16777216 BTC and individual transactions can be no more than 0.04194304 BTC
Thanks for correcting me Smiley

Will it be sort of enforced or would it be optional?
LN is experimental and you risk losing your funds. If I'm allowed to speak for DarkStar_, I dare to state it won't be enforced.

Anyone want to get paid via Lightning Network?   Tongue Cheesy
Sure,I'd like to learn about it,both theoretically and practically. So first let me begin with understanding its concepts.
I'm being (semi) serious. Still doing research and figuring out how to set up an LN node right now, but it would be possible Soon™

I'd join in on the testing of this. I can't really find good information about it, but it seems interesting from what I have been able to find. Want to PM me some information on it?
I wouldn't  mind getting some good info on LN too.. May I hop in as an unwanted, reckless scum? Undecided

1. As far as I know, a LN channel is still limited to a maximum of 0.04ish Bitcoin

Currently, channels are limited to 0.16777216 BTC and individual transactions can be no more than 0.04194304 BTC, so it wouldn't be particularly practical. Although I'm not sure how those limits are enforced or if it is possible to override them on a node.

I see 2 practical problems:
1. As far as I know, a LN channel is still limited to a maximum of 0.04ish Bitcoin TheQuin under here is more accurate
2. Even if this is increased, LN is only efficient if you make many transactions on the same channel, which means ChipMixer has to deposit an amount for many weeks ahead

For testing purposes on the other hand, it would be very cool to get it working! I've wanted to set it up ever since it became available, but haven't found the time yet.
